It's as if the innovators are all passing on... leaving us with those that will only reinterpret their greatness...

At a variety of levels...

I purchased Brubeck's vinyl albums when I was in university at his alma mater, U of the Pacific. My wife attended their conservatory of music, the same one Dave did. The University has named buildings after him on campus.

One of his live albums, "Jazz at the College of the Pacific" was reviewed as some of the best of Brubeck on record.

What a musician!

Brubeck produced some the highest-quality jazz during a time of renaissance for the genre. Some cool is timeless, and Brubeck's cool more than makes the grade.

A great artist who left a great recorded legacy, and lived a great long life. He worked through his eighties and maybe even beyond.

It doesn't get any better than that.

Hope he's in a better place. Even in death he was fortunate. Considering what looks to be ahead of us, he couldn't have picked a better time to check out.

BRAVO, Dave!
