Amazing that it didn't even occur to him beforehand to put the glass of water closer so he wouldn't have to lunge for it like that. An almost Plan Nine-worthy moment.

Amateur.

I wonder what the extreme partisans who are crying about deficit reduction will say about this...

Thanks, Dave. People need to read this.

As Rubio slacks his thirst, here's a typical response to the above link from an obviously malcontented conservative...

"Who cares! How about his spending like a Crazy idiot that is hell bent on ruining the Nation!"

It is striking to see how some will deny any fact that shows President Obama in any positive light.

Can any of our resident conservative commenters explain this phenomenon?

As expected, the only thing relevant about the Rubio speech was drinking some water.

The other minority speaker said nothing that was not said last year and four years ago. He did stress that he will govern with or without congressional approval and to hell with the constitution.

I am waiting for the senate to vote on gun control and see where that takes us. After all every senator taking a stand is the right thing to do. We also need to see how the democrats handle the sequester they wrote and approved. Guess they never thought they would have to enact something they passed, after all it's the fair thing to do.

As usual, skudrunner comes running here making half-baked accusations:

From PolitiFact:

"[We]see the two parties as co-owners of sequestration, especially since Republicans in Congress voted for the law that set up its possibility. In the House, 174 Republicans and 95 Democrats voted for the law, while 66 Republicans and 95 Democrats opposed it. (Final tally: Passed 269-161.) In the Senate, 28 Republicans and 45 Democrats voted for it, while 19 Republicans and 6 Democrats opposed it. (Final tally: Passed 74-26)

"The logic that lays the blame for sequestration at Obama's feet, because he negotiated the BCA with GOP leaders in Congress, could just as easily apply to those other negotiators, or, indeed, any member of Congress who voted for the BCA in August 2011," said Christopher Preble, vice president for defense and foreign policy studies at the libertarian Cato Institute. Preble favors reductions to the defense budget.

Laura Peterson of Taxpayers for Common Sense also noted that sequestration results from a law passed in the usual manner. "I think the fact that Congress passed it means it is not a presidential mandate. It was a law that originated in Congress and was sent to the president’s desk," she said.

Our ruling

Rubio said the defense cuts known that are part of sequestration were Obama’s "idea in the first place."

That doesn’t tell the whole story -- particularly the fact that Obama does not favor these cuts. The White House proposed them as a means of driving the two sides to a compromise over the deficit, not as a real-world spending plan."

skudrunner said...

So he supported the cuts before he was against them. No wonder he wanted swift boat as Sec of State, they think alike. Maybe that is plausible deny-ability in the political circles but just lying layman terms

skudrunner,

Come back when you're coherent. You're not making a whit of sense. You obviously didn't read what PolitiFact published about who's responsible for the sequester.

And FYI, it was the rats on the right who swift-boated Kerry and mocked his service to his country. Leave it to the cons to make up stories about an honorable man who honorably served his country..

To do that to John Kerry was low-down cowardice.

In layman's terms.

Rubio, a up and coming star did quite well with his boiler plate Moment I thought.

Thinking that must give him early front runner status for 2016.

We need more "supply side" fiascoes.

What else did Rubio say?

Is that GOP Kool Aide Rubio's drinkin'?

Your right Duck. Lets raise the minimum wage, put more illegals on the welfare rolls and ban guns in Chicago. Raise taxes on medical devices to lower the cost of healthcare and add to the cost of food by requiring labels on salad bars.

Look how well the diversion tactics of the inept incumbent are working to create good jobs. 1.6 million jobs created in 4 years is not something to brag about, that doesn't keep up with new people entering the job market. Take a look at the supply side President and see how the economy performed.

Thinking the president can create jobs is childish, that's the private sector, unless he is allowed to hire a government workforce and "fix" things.

Dave Miller said...

Skud... a great majority of the drag on net job creation has been the result of lower government spending in the "austerity" climate fostered by the GOP.

A simple look at the reality of the job creation numbers after the first 6 months of the Obama Admin will show that to be true.

You, and the GOP cannot have it both ways, no matter how much you want to.

You cannot chide Obama and the Dems for not cutting gov't spending and then be critical when that spending is reduced because it cuts job growth.

Those, along with the speed at which the deficit is declining are just facts that the GOP refuses to acknowledge.

I am curious to see how the Senate Dems will vote on gun control and the sequester. Leaving aside all the blog bluster, politics will be revealed.

What will be revealed? The far left and far right are minorities. The centrist still control this country.

WoW! WOW WOW WOW!

How do you remain so glaringly ignorant?

Did it escape your notice that federal spending has spiked as a percent of GDP to levels not seen since the end of World War II?

If spending was the key to prosperity we would be living in a golden age along with Greece.

As for Marco Rubio's water, I only wish the press and liberal bloggers had paid as much attention to the murder of our Ambassador in Libya.

Marco hydrated, no one died!

Well, well, well.

Mike's America came all the way to my blog.

I remember you, Mike. I used to post comments at your blog, but stopped when you kept calling me "Commie Shaw," whenever I posted a comment you didn't like.

Do you still call people names when you can't put up a counter argument?

I wouldn't know, because I never visit your blog.
