A Happy Holiday Happy Story



Yakima, Washington, company's Facebook response goes viral.


A Washington company has a rapidly growing fan base thanks to a Facebook response from the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer. 

Yakima-based Liberty Bottleworks brands their business as"The ONLY American made  metal bottle in the marketplace." When an unhappy customer expressed her frustration on the company's Facebook page, co-founder Ryan Clark decided to respond. The following exchange has since been removed from the company's Facebook page:

Hahahaha! The Pope--Christ's Vicar on Earth--has met Marxists who are "good people?"

Don't tell that to the holier than thous on the rightwing blogs, they'll make a mess all over their keyboards from their cranial explosions.

Not sure what relevancy Marx, the Pope, or rightwing blogs have in common with this post. Perhaps it's just me?

It sounds like a impatient, irate, unreasonable customer who really pissed off the CEO. It reminds me of the time one of my company's customers was verbally abusing our customer service people. To the degree no one wanted to speak with him. As the manager I personally called the gentleman, who gave us thousands ofdallors in business, and told him I personally would handle his problem that day. I thanked him for his business and then told him he was welcome to take his business elsewhere as we would not tolerate him or anyone verbally abusing our dedicated customer service staff.

I then immediately informed the company president. He smiled and said thank you. You were absolutly right telling him he could take his business elsewhere.

He continued to do business with us and there were no further instances reported by our dedicated customer service reps.

If anyone cares to know, I am one who finds 24-7 availability of any commercial enterprise and the news business frankly obscene.

And yes, I would favor reinstating the old "Sunday "Blue Laws."

The exceptions to this rule of availability should be emergency medical services, emergency road service for stranded vehicles, and of course the police and fire departments.

More does not mean better.

Ever since commercial enterprise has been permitted to run amok, society has suffered from frenetic activity and hyper-anxiety.

Maybe the lovely, genteel, restaurants we used to frequent for Sunday dinner after church should have remained an exception, because they provided a memorably life-enhancing experience to the executive class, and always closed on Monday to give their staff some much needed rest.

Incessant loud tub-thumping for money 'round the clock, and lack of respect for "the Sabbath" has created a crass, boorish culture thuggishly in pursuit of cheap, shoddy merchandise.

I'm an ardent Capitalist, but I despise unbridled vulgarity. And while I have to defend to the death Walmart's right to exist, I wouldn't be caught dead shopping in one.

BIG is BAD. That goes for BIG INDUSTRY as well as BIG GOVERNMENT. When those two forces join hands and fortunes -- as they have in latter years -- the PUBLIC becomes their VICTIM and our quality of life steadily diminishes.

MONEY doesn't buy QUALITY. TASTE determines that, and as a people our TASTE, our sense of VALUES, MORAL RESPONSIBILITY and much of our BEHAVIOR has become VILE.

I enjoyed the CEO's response enormously, whether it is genuine or not. If genuine, I only hope the gentleman can survive in the shark-infested wasters of our depraved commercial culture.

Despite all that, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Season and a better, more fulfilling year than 2013 has been.
