"And they lost."
Josh Marshall, Talking Points Memo:
"On Obamacare, the Republican party has bet big on failure for four years. Now the results are in. And they lost. Big time. Of course, substance policy success and political outcomes aren't the same thing. And just as importantly they do not always run on the same time scale. So it is entirely possible. I would say it is likely that the GOP will still derive benefits this November from the core of voters who are extremely upset about Obamacare, extremely motivated to vote and also happen to be the same people who routinely turn out in disproportionate numbers in mid-term elections. But on the core of the policy, which I think there is good reason to believe will align with political outcomes in the future, the results are in.
And they lost."

It ain't over until the fat lady sings. It is going to be years before the impact on our economy is realized. It may go either way, south or north.
One thing we can be certain of today, it will remain political and the rhetoric will continue to flow with proponents and detractors putting their own spin on ObamaCare.
At this point what does it matter? To crib Benghazi Hillary.
It isn't "spin" to claim that, as far as enrollment numbers go, the A.C.A. has worked.
The right wing wanted the A.C.A. to fail and when it didn't, the right continued to hold useless votes to repeal it.
Reasonable people know that something had to be done about our health care system. When Mr. Obama embraced a Republican idea, the right went bonkers. And the right never came up with a workable alternative. All the right had, and still has, is NO! NO! NO! and obstruction.
IMO the right appears to be anti-health care for America. They've never presented another alternative.
We certainly could not go on as we had. So the right wanted repeal and not replacement.
Just more failure.
Counting babies and and family members and everyone that has a bounced check as an effort vote is wrong and fluffs the numbers. Also counting the ones that lost insurance is counting people twice. Democrats are getting caught in mass across USA IN some of the worst cases in history of corruption. MSNBC and SOROS minions are leading citizens of the USA that were illegal aliens just 30 days ago around by the nose, they are the only ones that listen anymore and even they have to be paid because they know Democrats are wrong. If your feeling hopeless and lost, fire a Democrat to ease the pain in 2014 election
Democrats are leaving their party in mass to disassociate themselves from the Lies and Corruption. Progressive Liberal Democrats cannot stomach the corruption in the Democratic Party. Both side of the fence are so filled with corruption and abuse of power for personal gains, that those with a conscience are choosing to leave a philosophy and legalized crime organization.
You call votes useless, that in of itself says that you have no clue that human beings are smarter than you believe. This blog has pathetic excuses for a bad Idea all over it. If you think jumping on a bad idea and riding it to the ground because a like minded retard said to do it. Your as brain washed as the bad end of neighborhood. Being progressive doesn't mean following stupid ideas just because someone says to. If this group of progressives are not free thinkers who can make a call based on the evidence listening to both sides, your not progressive, your just meat that's caught up in the machine.
Correction, they never presented an alternatize the other side would accept.
I'll acknowledge this. once the badly flawed (UN)ACA became the law of the land republicans should have swallowed the bitter pill and worked with d-crats to improve a seriously flawed law. Having said this it is likely, IMO, that d-crats would have just thumbed their noses at repubs anyway. But we'll never know. Will we?
... and the beat goes on.
So does the national debt, the MIC, and America's love of the absurd.
boy, that Texman, sheesh! those weren't talking points...that was just verbal drool. get a bib!
Yeah. That commenter wasn't interested in a discussion, just repeating GOP talking points.
Obamacare is successful in signing people up for insurance.
Meanwhile, Fox and their followers are "pallin' around" with terrorists.
Anon, your point is exactly what?
Yep, we know their signing up. As for your other BS? Well, call it BS.
They may have lost the battle against Obamacare, but that doesn't stop them from trying to take insurance away from the people who finally got it. What the hell is the matter with these people?
"GOP policy analysts are pretty clear now that Obamacare isn't collapsing, hopes of the politicals notwithstanding. And strategists have started to hint that flat opposition - repeal with no alternative that provides something like the same range of benefits - may no longer be viable from a political standpoint.
Of course, in the Obamacare gotterdammerung bubble, Obamacare is on its last legs and President Obama will soon resign and ask the country for mercy as he's hustled off by federal marshals to stand trial for Obamacare and socialism. Back on planet earth though reality-based opponents see the writing on the wall.
Indeed, the new data goes beyond simply saying that Obamacare is stable or is not headed toward a death spiral. It's better than that. It's working as expected. The rate of uninsured Americans is going down substantially - especially in states that didn't try to sabotage the rollout.
They bet on failure. And they lost the bet."
TPM
Why do cons ( pardon me, I mean to say “The Baggers") always have to take the opposite opinion on all controversial topics?
I lay all of this at the feet of Limpballs, Cruz and Palin!
Didn’t they learn ANYTHING from their failures?
.
"Correction, they never presented an alternatize the other side would accept."
Oh brother ... The Republican'T Party never presented an alternative the other side would accept?!? The ACA was a Republican Party idea that was totally acceptable to the GOP, until that ... in the "White" House showed that he was willing to back it.
Has one forgotten the Republican'T Party swore a blood oath to _NEVER_ give President Obama any opportunity for any governing success even if it meant the people of USA suffered?
"I'll acknowledge this. once the badly flawed (UN)ACA became the law of the land republicans should have swallowed the bitter pill and worked with d-crats to improve a seriously flawed law."
One still seems to be unable to admit that one lost the battles and the war, doesn't one? ACA, is no more 'badly/seriously flawed' than any other major government social benefit program.
One bet against the people of USA ... and _LOST_. But hey, keep deluding oneself, that one has not been cheering for USA's failure all along.
As for the impact on USA economy? Simply ask the international insurance corporations how much more profitable it is for them to have a well-regulated monopolized market-place?

Yada, Yada, Yada Ema. But thanks for your vote for the tyranny of the majority.
PS: Have a happy egg day
.
Vicious in victory; reprehensible in defeat!
"... the tyranny of the majority."
Is this the new Republican'T jingoism?
______________~
Thanks for the comic relief.

Jingoism Ema is certainly not limited to the republicans, conservatives, or libertarians as you have aptly proven many times.
BTFW Ema, I an not a republican, Tea Party or otherwise. I, unlike you, refuse to march to the tune and cadence of any political party. It is liberating and refreshing. You should try it sometime Ema.
. RN..oh, come on, Les..'the tyranny of the majority.'...is really a oxymoron. I have read enough of your comments to know that you are one of the few folks I have come across on the pages, conservative, that truly does practice conscientious thought process. AND is willing to engage in practical discourse to take this country forward. And...it seems like that is the over riding purpose of Shaw's blog. America runs on the Democratic principle, not
Democratic Pary, of majority rule, that also mandates input from the minority.
oh, and by the by...hope you had a great Easter and mucho chocolate~ see you on the pages.
cordially...jimm
