OK Granny, do you really think it's OK for your 6 year old grandchild to go to the bathroom with an adult male dressed like a woman?

That sums up the very odd radical right wing perfectly. They want 'smaller government' yet they constantly pass laws to make it bigger and more intrusive. They hate budget shortfalls yet they approve of giving the uber rich tax cuts during a time of astronomical spending on phony wars of choice and then complain when the budget crashes. There simply is no way to understand the illogical and often contradictory radical righties.

In this installment of conservative logic, I have to be a bit arch and point out a quote from today's edition at the mother ship:

"This is all collateral damage for electing other than a Caucasian male as POTUS. In our PC society today, we feel somehow obligated to let other than a white, male President run amok, letting them do whatever they want, even if it destroys our country. We “can’t” impeach him, and if Hillary is elected as the first woman POTUS, we “can’t” impeach her, either."

------
That's right folks, do the PC thing an elect anyone but a white male and the next thing you know gays are getting married and transgenders are forcibly occupying our public rest rooms.

I think tacit in that beauty of a quote is that a neofascist like Drumpf or Cruz wouldn't stand for these shenanigans.
Laugh or cry?

Anonymous, I'd be more afraid of my 6-year old grandson going to the bathroom with a priest. Or an ex-Speaker of the House.

I don't know of any instance where a child was accosted by a transgender person, but thousands and thousands of children were sexually abused or raped by men of God. Did you lose your mind over having children anywhere near a priest?

Your fears are wildly misplaced. A real and present danger to children would be from religious men, not transgender people.

Shaw Kenawe said...

BlueBull, read Anonymous @12:01 comment. Anon is losing his/her mind over a non-issue. I wonder if Anon petitioned his/her representative to keep priests away from children. I wonder if these Anonymous hysterics were running around to blogs warning people to keep their sons and daughters away from priests. Far more priests actually were a real and present danger to children than transgender people. Again, this shows their inability to think logically.

Spokespeople from the Transgender Law Center, the Human Rights Campaign and the American Civil Liberties Union told Mic that no statistical evidence of violence exists to warrant this legislation. Vincent Villano, the director of communications for the National Center for Transgender Equality, told Mic in an email that there isn't any firm data to corroborate these lawmakers' claims, and that NCTE has "not heard of a single instance of a transgender person harassing a non-transgender person in a public restroom. Those who claim otherwise have no evidence that this is true and use this notion to prey on the public's stereotypes and fears about transgender people."

The Advocate noted the same glaring fact last month regarding Texas' bathroom legislation: "There has never been a verifiable reported instance of a trans person harassing a cisgender person, nor have there been any confirmed reports of male predators 'pretending' to be transgender to gain access to women's spaces and commit crimes against them."

Alachua County Crisis Center victims advocate Ashley Flattery told the Miami Herald, "This kind of idea that somebody is going to be assaulted in the bathroom by someone, and claim they have the right to be there because they are trans, is imaginary."
SOURCE

Imaginary is correct, just like their imaginary claims that President Obama destroyed the country, is a secret Muslim, and has legions of people from the Muslim Brotherhood infiltrating the US government. And here they go again making claims with no evidence.

I believe we have a post of the month winner.

anonymous, transgender access to public rest rooms has been the law for over a decade, I believe, in Cambridge and reports of assault by transgenders in that period - zero.

The are other municipalities where the law has been in force for a while - nothing.

It is simply a non issue.

Ducky found this on a far right blog:

"This is all collateral damage for electing other than a Caucasian male as POTUS. In our PC society today, we feel somehow obligated to let other than a white, male President run amok, letting them do whatever they want, even if it destroys our country. We “can’t” impeach him, and if Hillary is elected as the first woman POTUS, we “can’t” impeach her, either."

These people give not one shred of evidence that proves Mr. Obama "destroyed" our country. What would they hope to impeach Mr. Obama for? Being a center-right Democrat? Being African-American?

The main problem with these unfortunate people is that they talk only to themselves, allow only their fellow travelers to comment (and sadly, they actually post blast emails they get from their conservative uncles and aunts -- without checking for veracity, of course), and so they deprive each other of any outside information that may seep into their simplistic minds to refute their absurd claims. They live in a bubble, talk bubble talk to themselves, and are extremely smug about it.

They're to be pitied, but also a good dose of ridicule would probably help them out of their self-induced political comas.

Pray tell Ms.Shaw, just what does a 45 year old man with five 0' clock shadow dressed as a woman walking in the bathroom occupied by your grand daughter and whipping out his schlong to take a leak have to do with the catholic church scandal? A bit of a stretch, even for you.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dear Gawd, Anonymous, what sort of dreams haunt your nights?

Have you ever interacted with a transgender person? They don't "whip out their schlongs" and wave them at little girls in bathrooms. The transgender women I know are have no desire to show anyone their private parts. And they are certainly impeccably groomed so that no 5 o'clock shadow would ever be present. What do you know about transgender people? But more important, what sort of public bathrooms do you hang out in?

What you described is a plain old pervert, and that pervert is probably a hetero pedophile. There's not a lot we can do about that, except to educate our children on the dangers of hetero men who do such things.

My reference to predator priests is extremely apt in this situation. What evidence do you have of a transgender person flapping his johnson at little girls in bathrooms? I mean besides what you dream of?

There are mountains of evidence to prove that priests are far, far more dangerous to children than any transgender person is.

Ducky... I thought about doing a post refuting every point on that blog...

Seriously, everyone of their issues are the product of aggrieved people intent on being angry because things are not the same as yesteryear.

And most of them are false...

Really... An apology tour is still s Top 10 issue? Especially given it never happened...

We need to remove all signs pointing to gender because it discriminates. Why should women have longer lines than men. Pick the one you want if you cannot use a urinal learn how. Why is it legal for men to go shirtless and women can't. If someone sticks their foot in your stall, step on it unless it is a republican congressman then make it front page news. We need to get rid of these gender laws that discriminate against LGBT and women.

Ducky's here said...

Well Dave, aside from the standards like "destroying our healthcare system, I enjoyed:

Yes sir, Obama initiated the Friday news dump.
Just another example of what we get for electing a non white male.
They tear the fabric of reason, don't they?

Ducky's here said...

Oh my, check this out:

"WASHINGTON — North Carolina lawmakers filed legislation Monday to repeal the state’s extreme anti-LGBT law, which, since its passage last month, has drawn a presidential rebuke and spurred businesses to pull out of the state.

The bill, HB 946, would strike down the new law that, among other things, bars transgender people from using bathrooms that match their gender identity, and prevents local municipalities from passing their own LGBT anti-discrimination ordinances."

Expect other states to follow.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skudrunner: "We need to remove all signs pointing to gender because it discriminates."

No one is proposing that, only unhappy, angry people who can't deal with the fact that transgenders exist and should be able to use the bathroom they identify with. Only people like skud and his fellow travelers are finding a problem with this. It's been a fact for years and years without their even knowing it, but now that this has come to their attention, their fainting couches are groaning under the weight of everyone plopping down on them in horror!

skud: "Why should women have longer lines than men."

I can't count the number of times I've used a "Men's" room in a restaurant with only two bathrooms because the "Men's" room was empty while the "Women's" toilet had 4 women waiting. So I used the little boys' room. Nothing happened! I washed my hands and left!

Skud, take a deep breath. Change is difficult for some people, I know, but take heart! As a son of the south, you know that drinking from the same fountain as "the coloreds" and sitting beside "them" in a restaurant or theater didn't bring on the end of the world as you knew it, did it?

My advice to you? Take a transgender woman or a transgender man to lunch -- you'll have the time of your life!

The only thing you have to fear are your preconceived anxieties you feel you need to hang onto.

"An apology tour is still s Top 10 issue? Especially given it never happened..."

A person would have to be extremely stupid to continue to claim that Mr. Obama went on an apology tour, since every fact-checking organization on the planet finds the claim false. But the people on the right who cling to it do so because they don't know a fact from a fart.

Their continuing to lie about Obama is a religion experience with these people. And the one thing we know about them is that they're devotional people.

Is Tom posting as anon?

Here's a great quote from economist Jared Bernstein on his ongoing disagreements with fellow economist Art Laffer...

"...before I go any further, let me stress that I’ve been good friends with Art — an important and highly influential economist, not to mention a great guy — for decades. We’ve long disagreed, but we’ve done so, including last week, without being disagreeable. I hope the facts eventually move him, but if they don’t — and they haven’t yet — I hope to keep arguing with him for years to come."

What I love is his decision to disagree agreeably, something many of our conservative friends who visit here and elsewhere are either unable to do, or choose not to.

Skud of course, is another animal, preferring a more snarky drive by and see ya later approach...

And my personal favorite...

Promising jobs and not delivering...

Except those millions of jobs created since 2008.

Sheesh!

You are way ahead of your time. As Reagan the great said, take down this wall.
I see the leader is taking the advice of Petraues and McCrystal and sending troops back in. Next he will allow the pipeline. Amazing what he will do when his Mid-East trip tanked.

Say what you want but even the CCF, Clinton Crime Family, or Trump will be better than the current policy of lead from behind.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skud, the post is about transgender issues, keep your opinions about Clinton and Trump for a post about them.

But before I leave I'll remind you that Mr. Obama's approval ratings now are as high as Mr. Reagan's were at this point in his 2nd term. Get that? Obama's popularity is the same now at this point in his presidency as was Mr. Reagan's at the same point in his.

The fact that Obama is as popular as Ronald Reagan destroys the Republican fantasy that America has been ruined by this president, or is no longer great. Republicans are living on a different planet than the rest of us. The Obama failure delusion may be a recipe for victory in a Republican primary within the Fox News bubble, but it could be a path to certain defeat in November.

The numbers don’t lie. President Obama will be an important part of any Democratic victory in 2016.

Amazing, eh?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dave,
"And my personal favorite...

Remember when Boehner became Speaker of the House? He said the first order of business was JOBS! JOBS! JOBS! Then the Republicans delivered OBSTRUCTION! OBSTRUCTION! OBSTRUCTION. Even without the GOP, Obama managed 72 months of private sector job growth.

It is amazing how those people manage to be so blind to simple truths. But they've been wrong on so many issues for so many years, we're not surprised to see them stay in the fact-free gutter on what Mr. Obama has accomplished. It's called "butthurt," I believe.

Obama managed 72 months of private sector job growth .

Since no president manages job growth that statement is giving credit where credit really isn't due.

The best that can be said is business confidence was restored gradually following the 2007-2008 meltdown. Therefore slight improvements were noted. Although one can't help but point out that the official published unemployment rate is not actually a real number. Hasn't been for some time. Even pre Obama.

Infidel753 said...

That Anon 6:16 comment is absolutely revolting and intolerable. Can the conservatives who troll here at least agree on that?

By the way, Erick Erickson (who is not even a liberal, to say the least) stated that he received hundreds of e-mails like that after he canceled Donald Trump's invitation to the RedState Gathering. An indicator of what kind of slime infests the Trumpian sub-domain of Wingnutistan, perhaps.

I've been hesitant to address the trans/bathroom issue because I don't really "get" it -- I've never known a trans person well, and I don't know whether or not a significant number of women feel concerned at the thought of people who are anatomically male having access to women's restrooms. If there are, it shouldn't just be brushed aside. But it's reassuring that there have been no cases of actual abuses (in contrast, as Shaw points out, to the squalid track record of Catholic priests), and that the support for laws like North Carolina's actually seems to come just from the usual suspects who are always out to bash and humiliate anyone who is sexually unconventional in whatever way.

The ultimate example of someone who shouldn't be trusted around children is Anon 6:16. What kind of person chooses such imagery to express disagreement?

anymouse said...

Well, "Anon" certainly is a wonderful spokesperson for the radical right, isn't he? Wow. Sick sick sick person. And they wonder why they are so disliked by most sane Americans....

Btw - "Anonymous" - again if you're going to use the same phrases on more than one blog Rusty - probably no need to hide behind 'Anonymous'. Poor Rusty - such a massive fool hiding behind his keyboard and far too stupid to even understand how pathetic he makes himself.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Infidel753: "I don't know whether or not a significant number of women feel concerned at the thought of people who are anatomically male having access to women's restrooms."

It's a real good bet that many transgender men who identify as women have been using the "Ladies Room" everywhere, and no one was aware that there was a problem. It's only since certain red states decided that it is a problem that it's even come to anyone's attention. I've been in a room full of transgender females (at a luncheon) and I'd challenge anyone coming into the restaurant without knowing this to claim they were men.

big isn't always better: "ince no president manages job growth that statement is giving credit where credit really isn't due."

But the fact is that if the economy (jobs) are in a downward spiral, or gas prices (which the president doesn't control either) go sky high, he gets blamed, doesn't he. In fact, a president gets blamed for anything negative that happens on his watch. So why shouldn't he get some kudos when things go well?
