VOTE

(Miami Herald editorial page)

 PM CARPENTER:

" Although a sharp stake thrust into the Donald's dark heart is tonight's pragmatic objective, I very much want to see him writhe in agony — just as he has done to this nation for 17 ungodly months.

I want Trumpian tantrums, I want no concessions as he melts into his watery grave, I want all the characteristic imbecilities that this reptilian horror of human indecency has inflicted on the republic for far too long.

In brief, I want Trump to be Trump to the conclusive end: prepubescent, vile, mean-spirited, noxious, mendacious, sleazy, stupid and stubborn.

I want it all on display to what I trust is a horrified nation. The more, tonight, that Trump is Trump, the less we'll suffer him tomorrow. Such is my hope."

Such is the hope of all true patriots.

Trump thugs:

"Notwithstanding the overall success of early voting, the peril of obstruction, intimidation and even violence at the polls remains, thanks mainly to Donald Trump’s explicit rhetoric and barely veiled messaging to his supporters. In repeatedly urging his partisans to intervene at polling places to thwart a “rigged” outcome, the Republican presidential nominee has invited confrontation and the possibility of chaos. By instructing nearly all-white crowds to scrutinize voting in “certain areas,” he has encouraged racial rancor."

TRUMP: "Two things get me the most,” Trump said, after discussing the state of manufacturing in North Carolina. “Two numbers I don’t— It just doesn’t make sense. Twenty-two suicides a day for our veterans, it doesn’t make sense. And here’s another one: America has lost 70,000 factories since China entered the World Trade Organization.”

“Those are the two numbers that just don’t seem to be real,” he said. “Sad numbers. Sad numbers..."

I predict that if/when Trump loses, he will either (1) go into full denial mode, or (2) give us the juvenile, vicious tantrum we're expecting. Forever more, he will be remembered as a loser.

Dervish, this comment went into a June post, but I'm putting it here:

Shaw: Keeping quiet and ignoring the TOM troll for six years didn't discourage it, so I tried something else.

Nope. I've had the exact same problem (also for several years) with TOM. The exact same kind of comments. RN is his focus. In the comments he sends me, it is RN and I who have gay sex.

BTW, Luke and Steve (the same account, as you noted here) are also TOM creations.

TOM is not right in the head and everyone is aware of it.

Ahab, the worse thing for Trump is for him to be forever known as a LOSER. It's what he dreads the most. And deserves the most.

i don't know why the democrats are so mad at trump. a more reasonable republican candidate would probably have trounced hillary.

and the republicans should be happy because when hillary wins they can spend 4 years on the offensive trying to impeach her rather than 4 years of daily shuddering about what trump is going to do next.

the universe is unfolding as it should.

Donald was caught on camera peeking at Melania while she filled out her private ballot.

I guess he's not sure she'll vote for him. And why should she, after what we learned during this election cycle. The ultimate revenge of a wife humiliated by a philandering husband --A VOTE FOR HILLARY!

Let's not get too smug... almost every battleground state is within the margin of error on the polls.

While the election may end up being a big win for HRC, trump can still win.

Either way, the real work begins tomorrow.

If the Dems lose, will they stonewall as the GOP has done for years?

If the GOP loses, will they continue their 8 year tantrum and try to handcuff HRC?

Or, will cooler heads prevail from both parties and decide that we're better together, than apart?

The TeaPublican bloggers are allon suicide watch. They're all whining about what meanies the media are -- ignoring the fact that the "enemedia" gave Trump billions of dollars of free air time during the primaries and the general election. It's everyone's fault but their, you see. Everyone's ameanie, Hillary's a crook who gets away with stuff BTW where was all the news about Trump bragging about giving to charities and then stiffing them? and having an affair with some beauty queen while he was married to Melania? About the fact that he LIED about his academic achievements. He did not graduate from Wharton and he wasn't at te top of his class. So thats all Hillary's fault every time Trump opened his mouth and bragged and lied. I have no pity for these pathetic people who put party before their country and risked letting a man-child with no knowledge of anything except running casinos and beauty contests and grabbing womens privates to be president. No pity for them. I hope watching tonights returns is very very painful for these people who almost gave this country to a narcissistic sexual predator and fraud.

Well, it has begun...

Trump is suing Clark County Nevada where a polling location was kept open to allow people already in line to vote.

He's asking that all the votes from that location be set aside to be adjudicated later.

Even though our GOP Sec State saw no problems...

Great Donald... is it going to be like this all day?

The Wall Street Journal -- not the New York Times, not The Washington Post -- said this:

2016’s Big Reveal
Donald Trump is a demagogue. Period. The right’s failure to see it is a disgrace.

Yes. The right's failure is a disgrace and they will regret it for decades to come. All decent, reasonable people know this.

WSJ: "Also revealed: That conservatives who once took umbrage at being called racist or anti-Semitic are now happy to flirt with white nationalism. That a party of self-described strict constructionists sees nothing amiss in Mr. Trump’s call to rewrite the 14th Amendment. That the ability of Mr. Trump and his supporters to hurl insults at their critics is only exceeded by their exquisite sensitivity when they are insulted back. That a reset with Russia is a fiasco when executed by Hillary Clinton but evidence of fresh foreign-policy thinking when proposed by Mr. Trump.

The bill of particulars could fill the rest of the column. It’s normal that elections make fierce partisans of many of us. It’s normal that Mr. Trump would attract the usual right-wing buffoons to his banners. Normal, also, is that many voters may not be troubled by Mr. Trump’s cruder statements when they hear him addressing their deepest economic and social anxieties.

What isn’t normal is the ease with which so many conservative leaders, political and intellectual, have prostrated themselves before Mr. Trump simply because he won. In July, Dan Senor, a senior adviser to Mitt Romney in 2012, tweeted that he had once commiserated with a Midwestern governor about how unacceptable Mr. Trump was as the GOP nominee. That governor? Mike Pence.

As for conservative thought leaders, the book that comes to mind is Julien Benda’s 1927 classic, La Trahison des clercs, “The Treason of the Intellectuals.” Benda railed against a new class of European thinkers who specialized in “the intellectual organization of political hatreds,” the “desire to abase the values of knowledge before the values of action,” and above all “the cult of success,” based on “the teaching that says that when a will is successful that fact alone gives it a moral value, whereas the will which fails is for that reason alone deserving of contempt.”

David,
The polls in NV are still open so how can he sue about keeping them open. Is it the sun or perhaps tequila that is making you somewhat delusional.
You sound like the rabid folks who are saying either side is intimidating voters. This is not 2008 dealing with the black panthers. There is no intimidation of voters from either side.
-H- will win and nothing will change except BJ will become richer and -H- will say how she is for the little guy while having playing to the big banks.
She went from being "flat broke" to a wealth of over 100 million dollars on a government paycheck. Even yellow dogs know better.

This report is from the HuffPost, re: Trump's suing Clark County, Nevada:

NEW YORK ― As voters went to the polls on Tuesday, a judge shot down a legal action that Donald Trump and his campaign filed against Nevada’s Clark County alleging that certain early voting sites were kept open illegally.

Early voting in Nevada saw huge turnouts over the weekend, particularly among Latinos, leading to complaints by one state GOP official that the polls were kept open so “certain groups” had more time to vote.

Under Nevada law, poll workers must keep polling sites open if there are registered voters waiting in line at the time the polls close. But the Trump campaign claimed in state court that the Clark County registrar illegally closed and reopened the polls to make room for latecomers.

The quick-moving legal action was considered at a hearing shortly after it was filed, but the judge assigned to the case was deeply skeptical of what the Trump campaign was seeking to accomplish.

“Is this action, is this petition ... premature?” asked Gloria Sturman, a state judge on the 8th District Court in Nevada.

“We need to preserve evidence, your honor, and the party that has that evidence is Clark County,” said Brian Hardy, the lawyer for the Trump campaign.

Subpoena envy... gotta love that!

Here's the deal... who will the Trumps and their minions believe?

GOP Secs of State? No...

Government? No...

The Press? No...

Reality? No way...

They've set up a system where they can only trust their own ideas, facts and data be damned. How can they be reasonable with an anti fact POV that only believes anecdotes and false facts...

Rusty,

I was looking at the early results on the East Coast. Basically the people who voted mail-in or in early voting opportunities in North Carolina and a couple of other contests. These were the people who were scared shitless that the Trump supporters might shoot them with guns.

Oh well. I guess we can torment him with endless investigations and indictments unless he institutes martial law.

Starting tomorrow, right?

Maybe he can rule from prison?
