Remember how the howling banshees on the right brayed about President Obama and his golf? Remember how Lord Dampnut criticized and mocked President Obama about how much time he spent golfing?
We remember.
But now President Happy Hands (h/t Ducky's Here) has spent more time and tax payer money on his golfing weekends (17 times) at his private resort (and charged the tax payers for it), than President Obama did, and not one little complaint by the biggest loudmouths on the right who whined and pouted about the Black Guy on the golf course.
And Lord Dampnut took off for the luxurious resort just after his magnificent display of Trumpian might where he dropped a bunch of Tomahawk missiles on an airfield in Syria, which was then in operation with Syrian jets taking off from it the next day.
That'll show Assad what a tough guy BLOTUS is!

All of this just lays bare a philosophy that was more "Not Obama" than any coherent collection of ideas, policies and thought.
The lack of intellectual consistency, heck, in many cases, the lack of intellect, is stunning. I've seen comments from the extremists saying they care not one whit what DJT does. They are happy and content in the Gorsuch nomination and the fact that he is not Barack Obama. I've even seen comments from some of them saying they are okay with unconstitutional decisions and actions from him, Because he is not Obama.
His golfing is the least of our worries.
And don't forget that he's probably billing the treasury for housing Secret Service details at Mar-a-Lago and Melania can't bear to live anyplace as gauche as the White House so we've got him billing the treasury for details at Trump Tower.

Dave, it's pretty safe to say that the current GOP lost their minds when Barack Obama won the presidency -- with an actual majority, unlike Trump. None of the the things that the GOP lost their minds over: golfing, vacations, M.E. entanglements, you name it, none of that meant diddley squat to them, because they've accepted it all from Trump. Their hypocrisy is nauseating. The current GOP are a group of thugs, liars, and political hack loonies with no moral agency.

This kind of argument was actually pretty common back in the run-up to the Iraq War. These wingnuts really love to see themselves as heroes Greater than the Greatest Generation.(I don't even want to think about Trump along those lines.)
Chris Hayes wrote a great piece called "The Good War on Terror" about this early in his career. They are dying for a Big War, although very few of them want to fight it themselves. They just want to (cheer) lead it and take credit for saving the world. That's why they have tried to turn "radical Islamic terrorism" into an existential threat greater than Hitler.
Spicer marinated in that nonsense for the past 15 years. He just blurted it out without thinking to make it seem that his boss's hands are uniquely yuge for taking on such a uniquely evil enemy. And it's ridiculous.
