General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

When the GOP partisans write and say stuff like this, it shows how deep the support for Trump runs and how difficult even public hearings showing his guilt will be...

"We need to be sensible and think of country first, not party first."

That's what a rabid Trump supporter wrote. As he says elsewhere that any vote against a Republican is a vote against God and America,

Among the 4.5 million words Durant's 11 volume 'Civilization', we run across many
pithy sentences-some of which apply today. Summing the reign of Caligula he wrote-
"Sanity, like government needs checks and balances: no mortal can be omnipotent and sane." Vol 3 'Caesar and Christ' Ch XIII. The emperor, insane with total power, ran amock, supported by a servile Senate. We know all the ominous details, thanks to
Suetonius and Tacitus. Those who don't know history....

"President" Trump on Sunday floated the possibility of staying in office longer than two terms, suggesting in a morning tweet that his supporters might "demand that I stay longer."

BB-Idaho, RN, and Dave Can you imagine the howls that would emanate from the gullets of the people on certain rightwing blogs had President Obama uttered those words? And Obama had much better support nationwide than Trump has had from the day of his inauguration. He and his supporters actually believe the country is with him and that he's got the support of a majority, when in fact he's the most unpopular and disliked president in modern American presidential history. He's the Caligula of modern presidents. And his support is down, down, down in the critical swing states he "won" in 2016.

Wilson is the pride of the liberal media, he's always been an ardent nevertrumper and very few actual conservatives pay any attention to him, he's in the same boat as Will, From and Brooks.

Dave
, I read that ridiculous "Letter to the Editor" by the commenter "Mal" at Geez. He's the same commenter who wrote on her blog when Mr. Obama was POTUS that someone should assassinate him.

Those people are not right in their heads. At all. This Mal character and Geeez ignore the fact that Trump said on video, for the country and the world to hear, that he would commit a felony to get re-elected, and those folks are worried about A.O. Cortez and Bernie Sanders?

As I've said many, many times, people who continue to support trump after what we've heard him say and what we've seen him do have serious, serious problems with reality. They certainly have zero understanding of our Constitution. I do NOT respect them.

The guy "Mal" who advocated the assassination of a U.S. president is telling his local paper that the Democrats are the problem? Oh, Gawd! "What fools these mortals be!"

Shaw... I love how he's been "published" because he got a letter ti the editor in the Trump loving Sheldon Adelson owned Review Journal. It's a reliable rag for the GOP. At least as it relates to national politics.

Wilson is respected by the nonTrumpCultists. IOW, the sane Republicans who've been chased out of the GOP. What's left are dead enders and people who admire a serial adulterer, a malignant liar, and a con man. The thinking Republicans want no part of that garbage.

Les Carpenter said...

You're absolutely spot on Shaw. Truly sane conservative and Republicans want nothing to do with Trump or his (now) cultist GOP.

Any Democrat. and I do mean ANY Democrat, will be at least 100% better than Dotard Donnie has been or ever will be.

Really Shaw, name five actual conservative Republicans who respect Rick Wilson...you have a better chance finding a unicorn.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Les Carpenter (see above your comment), Joe Scarborough, Joe Walsh, David Frum, Bill Crystal. There's more.

What you're really saying, "Anonymous," is that it angers you to know that THINKING Republicans reject the Malignant Liar-in-Chief. They really do.

Trumpers are only about 30% of the voting public. IOW, a minority. The rest of the country and the world detest Trump with the heat of a thousand suns.

For the record Shaw, I am a fiscal conservative and was a Republican. Until 2007 when I could no longer just look the other way and ignore the hypocrisy and deceit of they party and its conservative evangelical base.

I actually prefer the live and let live philosophy of living. Unfortunately it seems many folks (and governments) are incapable of this.

Trump, and what is now HIS GOP, has destroyed, obliterated whatever resemblance the current party might of had with the party of Lincoln.

Dave Miller said...

Anon... you and others like you are very quick to disavow political folks who are not as extreme as you. You guys call people like John McCain, David Frum, George Will and others RINOs, and claim they are not real Republicans.

We could only wish that we could see such quick disavowal and disgust with White Supremecists, Nazis, folks like David Duke and others of their ilk.

Why do you think your party leader is unable or unwilling to be critical of those folks, yet has no problem slamming his more moderate critics?

Anonymous said...

Now Rev, why are you folks so quick to tell us just who we should "disavowal?" Just because we don't stand on a table and jump up and down while shouting our disapproval of someone doesn't mean we agree with them. But we appreciate your most helpful advice.

Les Carpenter said...

Hey Rusty, how the H have ya been? Since Lisa closed up shop you must be quite bored he ole buddy?

Dave Miller said...

Anon... you forget your history.

That was a huge concept after 9/11, mostly pressed by the GOP, Neocons and conservatives. It was a distillation of GW Bush's doctrine of "if you're not with us, you're against us." It then morphed to the extremists who said adherents to Islam, Muslims if you will, who failed to stand up and publicly condemn the more radical Islamic voices in their religion and the world, must be in agreement.

I'm sure you remember those voices. If not, just take a stroll over to the Mother Ship or AOW to see it in full bloom.

So, when you talk about us libs expected the other side to disavow folks, or be tarred with the stain of agreement, it's because you guys made it a mainstream belief. Or to put it in a way the more extreme members of your group will understand... failure to condemn is agreement.

Anonymous said...

Well Rev, you sure do make a convincing case that conservatives are akin to the devil while liberals sport halos.

Dave Miller said...

Oh anon... there are no halos for liberals and anyone who knows me knows that. It's just that liberals have never pretended to be acting for God or that they are the party of morals and family values.
