General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."
Botox nan showed her class last night which is third. The speech was a tribute to a robust economy, low unemployment, honoring a black scholar, a black airman and his great grandson but that doesn't matter because she hates trump and showed it. It was interesting to see her talk to herself, laugh at her own jokes and fix her dentures. Even you should be ashamed to have her as your speaker because she is a total embarrassment to the country and your party. Her actions probably got trump a lot of votes, that and the DNC trying to rig another nomination.
BTW, skud, you are dishonest, as usual. How many times have you come here to castigate Trump for calling Speaker Pelosi "drunk" "nervous" etc. She's 2nd in line to the presidency and all he ever does is call people who are his intellectual and moral betters names.
You've never said a g-d word about that. No. I'm not ashamed of Speaker Pelosi doing what she did. She was too kind, IMO.
Trump is a liar, cheat, and fraud. And you and your Goopers own that miserable immoral pig.
“He shredded the truth, so I shredded his speech,” Pelosi reportedly said. “What we heard last night was a disgrace.”
Heather Caygle, one of the Politico journalists who reported on the meeting, tweeted that Pelosi claimed she had not planned the defiant act.
“I didn’t go in there to tear up the speech, and I didn’t even care that he didn’t shake my hand, in fact, who cares?” the Democratic leader said.
Pelosi reportedly told her fellow Democrats that as she was speed-reading through Trump’s speech during the address, she realized the President was “selling a bill of goods like a snake oil salesman,” and so she “started to stack my papers in a way that were tear-able.”
Cue the House speaker ripping the document on live television.
The stunning gesture left her feeling “liberated,” according Politico’s sources.
Since then, Trump has furiously retweeted nearly two dozen posts decrying the episode.
And don't forget that tRump, when handing copies of his largely fake speech to the veep and speaker, refused to shake Speaker Pelosi's hand when she offered it. A definitely intended DISRESPECTFUL snub on national tee-vee. I know you're likely perfectly A okay with that skud. But for me the Speaker was way to polite and respectful to Dotard. I would have given tRump the big middle one and dared him to do anything about it.
tRump is lower than the lowest SCUM on earth. And this nation of 48% cons and evangelicals (approximately) elected the jacka*s and many (the majority of that demographics) continue to support the little "man". America is INDEED losing its soul.
Remember when the rabid right wingers lost their sh*t when someone in the impeachment inquiry used 12 year old Barron Trump's name to make a point?
Here's Limbaugh making fun of a presidential daughter.
“Socks is the White House cat,” Rush intoned nearly two decades ago, “but did you know there is also a White House dog?” And then he held up a picture of 13-year-old Chelsea Clinton.
Think skud will be upset? Nah. His Mr. Swell Guy, tRump, is a pig, but he's skud's pig.
Dave, none of what you described above happened in a vacuum.
Remember, Trump will be acquitted by weak and cowardly Republican Senators who, following Trump's orders, would not call witnesses or evidence in the impeachment trial. How can Trump be acquitted if there was no trial. A trial has witnesses and evidence Trunp's impeachment trial has absolutely no precedent in American history of impeachment trials for presidents and others. The cowardly Republican senators can acquit, but Trump will NEVER be exonerated.
Can you understand how upset 70% of the American people who wanted witnesses and evidence are?
The weakling Republicans who've said Trump has learned his lesson and will not dare try to cheat again are beyond naive. Trump already tried to cheat to win TWICE. Trump has no morals or scruples about anything, so he WILL try to cheat -- and he will succeed -- to get re-elected.
Yes, people are angry and behaving badly, but it's really, really unreasonable to expect people to just roll over and allow the Republicans and Trump to trample on and destroy centuries of American law and presidential norms. That's not just my opinion, but the opinions of constitutional scholars and historians.
There's no BOTHSIDERISM here. We're seeing an immoral and mendacious authoritarian bully, supported by a minority political party, take America into the gutter and fundamentally change our democratic republic.
When adjusted for inflation "real" wages have risen 0.6% under Trump vs. 1.1% under Obama, according to former Treasury official Steve Rattner.
Our best economy ever? Growth under Trump is 2.5% (For Clinton it was 3.9% and under Carter it was 3.3%) HERE ARE COMPARISONS. Trump lied. Again. Does he count on his followers to just believe him and not verify?
Doesn't he have people to research what he spews in the SOTU? Either he deliberately lied about his administration's numbers or he has incompetent people working for him. I think it's a combination of both.
The only thing that would have made it better, if Nancy would have had a large sign with the words "You Lie" on it and held it up every time the POStus made a claim.
A P.E. reader sent this to me in an email. It was found on a right wing blog, and it's the ramblings of a very confused and morally adrift person:
"I have said here that I believe Trump is not totally innocent I also believe presidents have done FAR FAR worse than this forever. I also believe it was a good thing to do."
This person believes that Trump is not "totally innocent," which has to mean he's guilty of something, something wrong. Other presidents, this person says, have done worse. Therefore, this person believes the wrong thing Trump did was a GOOD thing to do.
How's that for logic?
I wonder. Does this person teach young people that it's okay to steal a chocolate bar from the local candy store since people have stolen bigger and more expensive things, plus it's okay and a good thing to do if that young person really wants that chocolate and has no money?
That's what the confused and morally adrift person just admitted about herself.
This is a perfect example of a Trump supporter. Confused and morally adrift. If they have morals at all.
They will justify anything this corrupt, lying cheating Trump does or says.
Anonymous @12:47, Like everything he touches, Trump cheapened and degraded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by awarding it to Rush Limbaugh.
Doctor T, you know what's funny? Reading the pearl clutchers aghast over what Speaker Pelosi did. Never heard a word of horror when their hero bragged about grabbing women's genitals, or when he mocked a POW, or ridiculed a disabled journalist, or called anyone he dislikes stupid childish names. Those who are upset with what Speaker Pelosi did are moral hypocrites, and should be shunned and ignored.
RN Trump can dish it out, but like all cowardly bullies, he can't take it. And Speaker Pelosi knows how to dish it to him. What a crybaby he is.
Ray, you don't have to remind me about what a scumbucket Limbaugh has been all his life. It's all preserved on the internet. Like Trump, he's a bully and always went after the weak and the vulnerable. He's just degraded the P.M.o. H. Who the hell would want it awarded to them after that horrid man got it?
Possumlady, Speaker Pelosi certainly knows how to burn Trump's large greasy ass. He's been on a Tweeting tirade all day over this. He can dish it out, but can't take it.
Shaw... you know me. I get it, no vacuum. The GOP started the final downward spiral in the House with the "you lie" comment yelled from the GOP side during the Obama SOTU. Trump of course spouted many, at best dubious claims, during his speech. None more questionable in my opinion than "The state of our union is strong."
It's not.
Pure and simple. If the GOP would have just done what Mitt Romney did today and had their members vote guilty, even under the 2/3 needed for removal, we could have chastened the president. But the GOP, with at least another half dozen members who have admitted the House proved their case, that Trump was/is guilty, could not bring themselves to even do that.
As Sen Joe Manchin proposed... fine, you don't like impeachment and removal, let's sit down and draw up a motion of censure. But that was a no too.
It's hard to get someone to do something that will end their job. I get that. But a great many of these people have nice nest eggs and retirement accounts. They should be, and we expect better.
From all of them, but most especially, the party of the president.
Because it is always the party of the president that has the greatest obligation, again, in my opinion, to work hardest to avoid even the appearance of total partisanship. That's why Presidents Clinton and Obama worked so hard, to no avail, to get GOP votes on their signature issues. The 90's economic tax increases and Obamacare.
I'm not sure any of you guys have seen Mitt Romney's speech. You should. All of you. While many can, and do differ from Mr. Romney's faith, myself included, we should never question his devotion to that faith, or to America.
Today Mitt Romney was what has been in short change here in America. he was a statesman. Pure and simple. He took the evidence presented by the House and like many others in his party, agreed with them, that the Democrat members of the House had, in Senator Alexander's words, "proved their case". President Trump was guilty.
And then he did what he believed you should do if you believe something... you act on it.
I disagreed with Mitt Romney's politics when he ran for president in 2008 and 2012. But I always respected his character.
Today Senator Romney showed why.
Too bad others in the Senate did not have the courage of their convictions and guts to follow through on them.
Dave, Ditto on everything you wrote. But the current GOP is not a political party anymore, it's a gang that is frightened of a corrupt and vindictive gang leader who cheated to get elected in 2016 and was caught cheating again in 2019. Trump is dishonest to his core and there's no reason to believe he'll change.
Remember that Mitt was the candidate who not only lost an election but also a debate to BHO. He was not prepared and couldn't even stand up for himself when the moderator called him a out for looking smarter than the swell guy.
If you listened to the hearing you will realize that their was no evidence that their was a crime committed and that the democrats rushed this through. I may be just a hayseed carrying my guns and bible but even I followed the hearing and when was said.
"BTW, it's interesting to note that the senators who voted for guilty represent 18 MILLION more Americans than the senators who voted to acquit." It is still amazing how much the left despises the middle class from middle America. That cost you one election and could cost you two. I was for impeachment because Pence would have an easier time thrashing the leftist field than trump who I am still not convinced can win.

tRump cheapened the Presidential Medal of Honor by awarding it to the misogynist, racist, dirtbag Limbaugh.
Remember this: Limbaugh made fun of Michael J. Tox's Parkinson's disease and Ruth Bader Ginsberg's cancer.
Limbaugh deserves noting but contempt for his past behavior.
I salute Speaker Pelosi. And so do millions and millions of patriotic Americans.
Trump lied and made a bunch of cheap shots. Nancy did the only honorable thing with his lying speech, she tore it up.

My takeaways...
Trump has a lot to crow about regarding the economy. And he did.
He's not a good public speaker when he's scripted.
He was petulant not to shake the Speaker's hand.
Speaker Pelosi was petulant to tear up the speech in such a public matter.
The people who shouted at Trump deserved to be escorted out.
The members of Congress who walked out should be ashamed.
Not a single one of these people would have felt the behavior they exhibited honorable if it had happened to their party.
The only word I can muster for the entire thing is disgusting.

Pelosi really, really burns tRump's tiny balls! She's got bigger ones than him!
