Regarding the polls, only one modern candidate has come back after being down this much, at this point in time. Bush the Elder in the 1988 election against Dukakis.
I won't count Trump out until the election. If the economy gets better, he can still pull this out because a majority of voters prefer him to Biden on economic issues.
