but this story in the Washington Post prompted this blogpost.
Limbaugh was never, ever in his life the mensch that Alex Trebek was.
I couldn't help make the comparison between the two men: One, Limbaugh, made his career by vilifying, degrading, and defaming people he disagreed with and was a major contributor in the coarsening of American life.
The other, Trebek, for 35 years hosted one of the most popular quiz shows on television with his charm, graciousness, and humanity. And with his death, made less fortunate people's lives better by giving away his considerable wardrobe to homeless men and men leaving prison, needing the right clothes to find a job.
No honest person would ever use the words "charm," "graciousness," or "humanity," to describe Limbaugh, and why would they?
Limbaugh made his fortune and fame by attacking and tearing down anyone or anything he and his fans disagreed with:
Limbaugh mocked a 12-year old child, Chelsea Clinton, comparing her to a dog, on his radio program. Who the hell admires a creep who attacks a child and makes fun of her looks?
Limbaugh also mocked Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's disease.
Limbaugh made fun of AIDS victims, blowing whistles and honking horns while reading off the names of the dead from AIDS.
Humane? No. IMO, there's more humanity in a hyena than there was in Limbaugh.
Here are some of Limbaugh's most famous racist and cruel statements. (Remember, his fans admire this wretchedness in a human being -- they must be just like him.):

Don't celebrate Rush Limbaugh's death.
Mourn his life
AND YOU PEOPLE ARE PREACHING ABOUT “UNITY “!
You’re Crazy

Ema Nymton will gleefully celebrate Trash Limbaughski's passing. He has left nothing worth having.
Again, it is wished for him everything that which he wished for others.

Limbaugh was slime. He was what mold looks down on. He made misery appear playful and fun. He was vile enough to give Satan pause about bringing him to Hell for fear he'd bring down the property values. And I don't feel at all bad about being glad he's dead and gone.
Sam Patterson
Working toward the goal of unity doesn't mean lowering oneself to admire a despicable human being.

I agree with a fellow from my home state:
"I defer to no one in my detestation of Mr. Limbaugh’s rancid views. I deplore his exploitation of the worst and most malignant underside of the American character. That he profited by this daily dispensing of poisonous bile not only by a staggering financial remuneration, but also by being bestowed the Presidential Medal of Freedom, is sickening.
But Rush Limbaugh prospered only because a huge number of Americans agreed enthusiastically with everything he said. The bigot might be dead, but bigotry is alive and thriving in America." --David English
I think we all wonder why people are drawn to bullies like Limbaugh and Trump. Your teenage brain was having a normal reaction. Your parents, not so much. I was in my 30s when Rush Limbaugh came on the scene. I distinctly remember my father going from being your average college educated Republican to being openly racist and sexist. Limbaugh's book appeared not only on my parent's coffee table, but also my older brother's.
At family gatherings, political discussions were to be avoided at all costs because now my father and brother had Rush's example to behave like complete pigs. They insulted, attacked, name-called, and bullied. I stopped visiting and avoided my family for many years. I returned to help my mother when my father developed dementia and had to be put in a home. He recognized me and no memory of why I hadn't been around. He didn't remember Rush Limbaugh.
There's a direct line from Limbaugh to Trump. Limbaugh gave men permission to be abusive and cruel. He coarsened our political discourse and led us into this era of alt-right extremism. I'm glad Limbaugh lived long enough to see voters reject Donald Trump. Now I'm glad he's gone.
Hey Sam Patterson! Remember when Rush Limbaugh said "Kurt Cobain was, ladies and gentleman, a worthless shred of human debris" the day after Kurt died?
I do.
PS. Remember when Limbaugh made his housekeeper score drugs for his habit? I do.
He was a worthless p.o.s. I don't want to hear any more of his sicko fans talk about "unity" when Limbaugh mocked the deaths of so many other people.
And he also was dead wrong on COVID:
Rush Limbaugh’s lies and conspiracy theories about COVID:
“The coronavirus is the common cold, folks"
“The coronavirus is an effort to get Trump”
“You can't believe the virus numbers”
“They’re using the mask as a symbol of fear"
As I said. A p.o.s.! Good riddance!
Last February 24, 2020 Limbaugh said on his radio show, “Now, I want to tell you the truth about the coronavirus … I’m dead right on this. The coronavirus is the common cold, folks.”
Dead right, indeed.
As of today, 2.5 million people worldwide have died from COVID-19 and almost a half million Americans.
Like Trump, Limbaugh didn't know what the hell he was talking about.
And while the Trumpies on the rabid right wing blogs get their knickers all in a twist about us meanie lefties remarks about Limpball's death, remember this:
In the hours immediately following Senator Ted Kennedy's death, Breitbart called Kennedy a "villain", a "duplicitous bastard", a "prick" and "a special pile of human excrement," adding, "Sorry, he destroyed lives.
They have very short memeories and are so quick to play the victim role!
Also, remember the guy they loved as president mocking POW John McCain, "I like people who don't get captured." Rush Limbaugh mocked Eric Garner's death, Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's disease, Ruth Bader Ginsburg's cancer diagnosis, Kurt Cobain, people who died of AIDS, feminists, Civil Rights activists, and Native Americans. That's his legacy.
So people like Sam Patterson can stfu about what's being said about Limbaugh.
The people hatefully celebrating Rush's death and trashing his life are just demonstrating the emptiness of their own lives. Rush lived an exceptional life of making fun of the sick and dying.
Rush Limbaugh Arrested on Prescription Drug Charges
April 28, 2006
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 29 (AP) Â Rush Limbaugh was arrested today on prescription drug charges, with his lawyer saying he has reached a deal with prosecutors that will eventually see the charges dismissed if he continues treatment for drug addiction.
The subject of a three-year investigation by prosecutors, Mr. Limbaugh turned himself in to authorities on a warrant charging him with fraud to conceal information to obtain prescriptions, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Jail.
The 55-year-old conservative radio commentator came into the jail about 4 p.m. with his lawyer, Roy Black, and left an hour later after he was photographed and fingerprinted and he posted $3,000 bail, Ms. Barbera said.
Remember what he said about Kurt Cobain? Limbaugh was a druggie. A rich druggie. He never gave any sympathy to anyne else with a drug addiction. He got away with his addiction because he was rich, but LIMBAUGH WAS A DRUG ADDICT just like the ones you see on the streets. But he was a rich druggie.

What Trash Limbaughski did to USA:
1. Made opponents into true enemies
2. Revived overt and dog whistle racism
3. Stifled attempts to revive the Fairness Doctrine
4. Implimented Roger Ailes formula for right-wing broadcast success
5. Offered ignorance as "common sense" thinking
He was a resident of the gutter and his influence has past. Forget him ...

Rush, WAS a wonderful, intelligent, Patriotic, American, who lovey his country, and who only who the best for America.
Shaw, the Rush fans are in a rage because liberals aren't lying about what a great guy Lush Rimbow was. They think our lives are pathetic because we saw him as the howling hate-monger that he was.
Wrap a flag around a p.o.s. and the Trumpers call him "patriotic."
I listened to significant numbers of Limbaugh's shows for a while in 2004 and then to a lot of shows in 2020. I will just say this. It's clear a lot of people commenting on Limbaugh, and how others should talk about him, have never listened to his show for any period of time.
There wasn't any pearl clutching from the righties when this happened:
Andrew Breitbart, a Washington Times columnist who oversaw Breitbart.com and BigHollywood.com, tapped into the anti-Kennedy vein in the hours after the senator’s death was announced, posting a series of Twitter messages in which he called Kennedy a “villain,” a “duplicitous bastard” and a “prick.”
“I’m more than willing to go off decorum to ensure THIS MAN is not beatified,” Breitbart wrote. “Sorry, he destroyed lives. And he knew it.”
But we all know as been reported here many times that the Righties are hypocrites. They want respect for their dead, but give none to anyone else's.
Thank you all for your comments. I've deleted many from Limbaugh admirers because all they were about is how awful it is to say bad things about dead people.
Rush Limbaugh made a career out of saying bad, rotten things about people living and dead.
So I and millions and millions more like me apologize for nothing!
