But Donald J. Trump will be remembered in American history as being the only POTUS who was impeached twice.
Trump was acquitted not on the evidence, but on the politics.
We all know what he did. We saw his betrayal with our own eyes, heard his seditious words with our own ears.
Trump incited his mobs through his Big Lie, the lie that the 2020 election was stolen. Even when he lost 60+ court cases challenging the outcome; even when his own AG said there was no fraud; even when his own cyber chief said this was the most secure election in history.
The twice impeached Donald Trump still told his mobs and his cultists that he won -- by a lot.
That is the Big Lie that triggered his insurrectionists to raid, ravage, ransack, and even kill in the US Capitol building. As the electoral votes were being certified, Donald Trump's savage, blood-thirsty insurrectionists went looking for his vice president to "hang Pence," and searched the Capitol for Nancy to, as one of his thugs put it, "tear her to pieces."
All of that is fact; all of that happened.
And yet, the cowardly, anti-democracy Republican Senators (except for seven brave patriots) told the American people and the world that this was okay with them. That inciting armed mobs -- mobs that killed a Capitol policeman, that maimed Capitol officers, and that caused the deaths of others -- that is okay with them. And they voted to acquit ex-president Donald J. Trump because they're loyal to a tyrant, a liar, a cheat, and a fraud, not to America and her Constitution, her laws. They're cowards -- everyone of them who voted for acquittal.
History will, in the end, have the final say about Donald J. Trump, and history will show his treachery, his disloyalty to America and his Oath of Office, and finally to the American people.
Donald J. Trump's legacy will end in ignominy, which he will so richly deserve.
BREAKING:
McConnell voted to acquit, but now, he says Trump had a "disgraceful dereliction of duty." "There's no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day."

Sadly, I think we all knew that the ever disgusting Republiscumbag party would ignore the attack on our nation by Trump and his army of scum. I'm just surprised that 7 of them actually sided with America for a change. The rest of them can live with how badly history will be to them.
Now, onto state charges!! :)
Sad.
The Majority of the Senate found Donald J. Trump GUILTY by a vote of 57 to 43 in a bi-partisan canvassing.
Not enough by the rules that required 2/3 of the attending Senators to find him guilty, but a record, none the less, to have that large a bi-partisan MAJORITY vote GUILTY. Trump’s Legacy.
The Republicans that voted Not Guilty are complicit, and most won’t recover from their Treachery.
Bluebullamerica, Mike, LeeSenator McConnell delivered a scathing attack of Donald Trump, holding him directly responsible for insurrection, cop killing, and sedition. His “No” vote on narrow procedural grounds does not remove the political indictment the Republican Leader delivered against Mr. Trump.
"We have a criminal justice system in this country. We have civil litigation. And former presidents are not immune from being accountable by either one" -
@LeaderMcConnell
. I hope Trump spends years and years in criminal and civil courts.
The next step is to do what McConnell said, take this man through the criminal process. Put him in jail.
I just watched the post press conference. Pelosi slammed McConnell, but there was no mention that the House prosecutors will be filing charges with the Justice dept. against Trump. We should not just leave it at this vote. We should not give up on prosecuting Trump.
By 43 of the most corrupt, dishonest, un-American POS in the senate. All of them need to be defested in their next election and sent home for good. They deserve nothing but disdain and disrepect. Each and every one of the miserable gutless and spineless POS.

I take heart in this:
Once impeachment is over, the threat to Trump shifts to real courtrooms.
This is essentially what McConnell stated in his surprising attack on trump post-verdict in the Senate.
Trump will face criminal and civil law suits. I read that Officer Sicknick's family is considering suing him for his death.
Right Jerry. That IS exactly what should be done. Since the 43 gutless spineless Q-Trumpbublicans of the Q-GOP shirked their responsibility and oaths of office it is time to man the big guns and put the miserable orange POS through total hell that lands the bastard in a federal penitentiary. Preferably until his death. He deserves NOTHING less.
Yes, I liken this to OJ Simpson. He may have been acquitted in the criminal case but was found guilty and lost BIG TIME in the civil case. Bring on all the civil suits, not to mention all the investigations into his nefarious tax dealings.

We will not forget, but we will long remember what 43 un-American gutless and spineless fascists chose to do today. They WILL pay the price of their traitorous behaviour this day. Nothing but disdain and disrespect should await them.

History will remember the GOP gave the WIN to the Proud Boys for murdering police and waging war on America's government. Thumbs up.
Guaranteed: Tis insurrection is not over. It is now behavior that is licensed, certified and normalized by the Republican Party.

History will remember all politicians as psychopathic controllers of very primitive humans.
