Good News!

NEW YORK — New York state suspended Rudolph W. Giuliani from practicing law on Thursday, months after the former New York mayor battled to overturn the settled results of the presidential election on behalf of President Donald Trump.

The committee of First Department Appellate Division judges that made the determination said Giuliani is not fit to continue practicing law after he “communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for [Trump] and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump’s failed effort at reelection in 2020.” The panel issued a 33-page opinion on the matter.

Well that's a great start to rounding up the criminal types who kissed up to Trump when he refused to accept his overwhelming defeat at the polls in November and in  how our American democracy works.

Anyone who has anything to do with Don the Con ends up indicted or in jail.

Let's hope the next big news is about the Big Orange Cahuna being indicted!

Here's the ruling:

“We conclude that there is uncontroverted evidence that [Giuliani] communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former president Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump’s failed effort at reelection in 2020,” the judges overseeing the disciplinary proceedings wrote in a 33-page ruling.

“These false statements were made to improperly bolster respondent’s narrative that due to widespread voter fraud, victory in the 2020 United States presidential election was stolen from his client. We conclude that respondent’s conduct immediately threatens the public interest.”

Trump lawyer Roy Cohn... disbarred.

Trump lawyer Michael Cohen... disbarred.

Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani... law license suspended pending a disbarment hearing.

Anyone see a trend here?

One can only hope. But the further away from the crime scene time gets the greater the odds of him beating the system are.

Good points, Dave and Mike.

Dave, normal, law-abiding folks would make an obvious connection between Trump and corruption by looking at who his personal lawyers are and what they've done. But the folks who continue to support Trump are not, IMO, "normal." They're driven to continue supporting Trump out of spite and a refusal to acknowledge corruption when it's right in front of their noses.

Also, the same folks who support corrupt Trump and his corrupt pals love Tucker Carlson:

@Steve Schmidt: "The senior ranking officer of the Armed Forces of the United States of America was called a PIG by @TuckerCarlson on @FoxNews the other night. Fox News and the Murdoch’s are a cancer in this country."

Just imagine if say, Rachel Maddow, had blurted out something like that during the Obama administration! This is just another example in a pile of them that shows the FAUX NOOZ audiences as a major part of why our country is so divided. In any other time in this country, a creep like Carlson would have lost his job a long time ago.

The last Trump rally became a Domestic Terrorist attack on our Capitol, leaving people dead, injured, the building ransacked, our Democracy jeopardized. It was coordinated, funded, and is now being denied and downplayed. Tell me again why there is another Trump rally planned?

On Wednesday night Laura Ingraham called for defunding the US military. Tonight Tucker Carlson called Gen. Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, “a pig” and “stupid.” Is Fox News funded by Putin? Maybe it's the new version of RT?

Our democratic republic is under seige from within. Led by Trump, organized by GOP trumpists, supported by the sheeple of Trumpism. Fully 40% of the country against truth and reality. A recipe for impending disater and loss of our democracy and the republic.

Lest we let Rudy off too easily, we've got to remember a few things.

The 33 page report from a committee of appellate judges who oversee lawyers in New York determined that Giuliani, in defense of his client related to the 2020 elections, knowingly and repeatedly disseminated false information.

In everyday talk, the committee made a preliminary determination that Rudy lied. And lied. And lied.

Specifically, he has said 800, then thousands, then 6000, then 800, then tens of thousands of dead people voted in the 2020 elections. And he has continued to lie about the 2020 elections even after votes have been audited, hand counts administered and recounts done.

in conservative states, with leaders wanting President Trump reelected.

Additionally, as a lawyer, Giuliani must regularly attend ethics classes to keep his law license current. In those classes, as well as in law school, you learn that you cannot lie in defense of your client, that it is not only unethical, it is illegal.

The committee, which will hold a hearing later this year to give Rudy his "day in court" also determined in the report that because so much of the information about the election and recounts was public, that the case against Rudy is so strong that he is unlikely to prevail in his appeal. Thus, they took the step to immediately suspend his license until the hearing that will determine his ethical fitness to continue to practice law in the state of New York.

At the end of the day, as ppl consider Rudy's fate, let's remember that a lawyer is a public servant and held to a higher standard of ethics than say a contractor or food service worker.

The process in which Rudy finds himself these days is the same process that was cheered by conservatives after the Lewinsky scandal that ultimately led to Bill Clinton losing his law license.

It's okay Rudy -- you'll soon enough get to be a 'prison lawyer'. You don't need to pass a bar for that one. If I smack you with a bottle of cheap champagne and yell "bon Voyage" will you float the hell out of here already, Rudy?
