General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

This is how a MAJORITY of Americans feel:

John Pavlovitz speaks for millions of Americans:

"It’s simply demoralizing sharing a country with people who think Donald Trump is someone worth emulating: to be surrounded by that kind of moral inversion every single day, to be continually encountering such cruelty. It’s a source of profound and sustained grieving to believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and afforded opportunity—and to know how many simply do not share that belief. I don’t hate these people but I am deeply saddened by them.

It isn’t just the reality of the despicable human being who we’ve allowed to ascend to the Presidency that [brings] that sadness, though that would be reason enough for despair. It’s the ugliness we’ve seen in our neighbors as he’s made his way there, and perhaps even worse now following his departure: the doubling down despite all we know about his reckless[ness] and incompetence. It’s the sickness that the America we love has shown itself afflicted with: the weight of every horrible reality about our nation; all our bigotry and discord and hatred set upon our chests, hampering our breath." --John Pavlovitz

Amen Amen and AFrickinMen! Sadly, we're stuck with these mental midgets for awhile longer. Of course, if they continue fighting against the vaccine and against wearing a mask, we won't have to deal with as many of them as we would if they were logical and sane. They have embraced fascism, not just the name but the entire portfolio of evil that entails.

There has ALWAYS beeb mental midgets and there ALWAYS will be. That's the simple truth. But, this IS the first time in our history an entire American political party has gone mental midget and completely lost its moorings to reality.

America is deeply sick.

We have to live in a country where this happens:

"Florida reported 20% of the nation’s new coronavirus cases over the last two weeks even though it makes up just 6.5% of the population.”
These numbers are the result of a scandalous failure of governance that is all too familiar in red states.

Scientists and public health experts have no problem figuring out why Florida, and not some other warm-weather state, is doing so poorly. As the AP reported, “epidemiologists and doctors interviewed blame the spike on the state’s slowing vaccination rate, a decrease in mask-wearing and social distancing and the delta variant.”
(Ironically, conservatives in Florida are cheering on Cuban citizens who have taken to the streets to protest, among other things, the utter inability of the communist regime in that country to provide coronavirus vaccinations.)

"Tennessee has announced it will “halt all adolescent vaccine outreach — not just for coronavirus, but all diseases — amid pressure from Republican state lawmakers,” the Tennessean reported.

While Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) may pretend to be baffled about what’s happening, it’s not rocket science. Anti-vaccination paranoia, MAGA covid-denial (especially rampant in White evangelical communities) and weak state government vaccination programs all contribute to a situation in which red states lag the rest of the country in getting shots in arms. Where vaccination rates lag, infections, hospitalizations and death rates will eventually spike.

The right-wing political environment and media diet are a serious danger to vast swaths of America. They provide a constant stream of vaccine skepticism. One wonders when the residents of these states will look around and begin to wonder why their states are effectively becoming third-world pandemic zones in a country entirely capable of preventing the vast majority of covid-19 deaths. They just might reach the conclusion that the right-wing, anti-science MAGA cult is killing them."

Truly, the GQP has become a death cult, willing to kill its own people just to "own the libs."

The tombstone of every anti-vax Republican who dies of COVID should read.

There is simply no rational explanation for the way so many red state residents are willfully ignoring and or resisting the vaccine, masks, and social distancing.

It is okay if those folks have a death wish for themselves. But it is NOT OKAY to put others at potential risk of serious illness or death.

These folks are sick in the head.

Worst of all — if one cares about children’s lives — Tennessee says it will “halt all adolescent vaccine outreach — not just for coronavirus, but all diseases — amid pressure from Republican state lawmakers,” the

This, friends and neighbors. This tells you everything you will ever need to know about how straight-up, bone-deep crazy the members of the MAGA cult are.

They don't even care if they kill their kids, for the love of God.

We've now had a tragic lesson in how a charismatic (in a negative way) leader, Trump, can bamboozle his cultists to the point where they're willing to gamble their lives and the lives of their children because of their belief in his lies. They're a minority, only 30% of the population, still a large number, but a minority that has fooled itself into believing the rest of the country thinks like them.

Trump keeps bragging about how he got the vaccines out into the public through his Warp Speed program, and his own cultists, instead of honoring him by getting the vaccine that he's so very proud of, they scream about their FREEDUMBS and not being forced to get the vaccine!

None of that is rational; but allegiance to a liar, cheat, fraud and malignant narcissist is rational either, and yet there it is.

Shaw Kenawe said...

CORRECTION: "None of that is rational; but allegiance to a liar, cheat, fraud, and malignant narcissist ISN'T rational either, and yet there it is.

Why we're in so much trouble re: COVID. Here's a typical far right lunkhead:

Seen on the Mother Ship: "Dr Collins, head of NIH is an F’ing IDIOT, too. and a BIG liar."

Dr. Francis Sellers Collins is an American physician-geneticist who discovered the genes associated with a number of diseases and led the Human Genome Project. He is director of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland

So the person who wrote the quote above says Dr. Collins is an idiot and a liar and she's also a large supporter of Donald Trump. Would she even know a genome if it sat on her ignorant face?

This is what's wrong with this country. Half-wits like the person who wrote that

And at 30% of America's voting population in 2020 that would be what, about 46.5% million haf witss?

Look guys... you need to go no further than even FOX News to see what is going on. This morning the Doocy/Kilmeade group all said they had been vaccinated. Then Steve Doocy implored people to get vaccinated and even said there's a lot of disinformation online and on Facebook about it and that it will "save your life".

But the idiot Brian Kilmeade couldn't help himself, spewing out this drivel after Doocy championed the work of the government to convince ppl to get vaxxed... "That is not their job. It’s not their job to protect anybody".

Silly me, I thought protecting American citizens was one of the specific duties of our government in the Constitution.

This is why we can't have nice stuff... because there are ppl like Kilmeade and the sailors on the Mothership who love him.

And call us UnAmerican!

What’s so sad is this is making family get togethers a real land mine. Luckily I’m staying home here in the mid Atlantic but family is gathering In MInnesota at the end of the week. My brother and sister-in-law (in their late 60s) are driving up from Oklahoma and are unvaccinated. A grown niece and nephew in their mid 30s are also unvaccinated. About 4 others, it’s a crapshoot if they’re vaccinated or not. The one sister that is sane and vaccinated had other plans (really) will be out of town and won’t be attending. Her husband doesn’t want to go. He’s vaccinated but has cancer so his immune system is lower. Yup, it’s sad but I’m glad I’ll miss this one…

A Kaiser Family Foundation poll in June shows vaccination rates of selected groups in the US.

Democrats 86%
Independents 61%
Republicans 52 %
College Grads 79%
No four-year degree 59%
Women 70%
Men 61%
White 67%
Hispanic 63%
Black 60%

Clearly one of these groups should NOT be allowed the power to dictate any public policy, from voting rights to education to healthcare.

No matter how negligent Red-State leadership is in allowing thousands of unnecessary deaths, they'll always find a way to blame the Democrats.

From Yahoo News: "The Fox Corporation has instituted a strict COVID-19 policy that includes a vaccine passport, allowing only the company's fully-vaccinated employees to work in their offices without wearing a mask or social distancing.

But a slew of the parent company's Fox News personalities, particularly two of its highest-paid and most influential primetime hosts, have railed against exactly this kind of vaccination policy, also known as a "vaccine passport."

The Mother Ship and its captain must know this, since the captain reads Yahoo News. And yet, they continue to watch a propaganda cable show for information and nod their collective heads in agreement with the likes of Kilmeade and the rest of the FAUX NOOZ miscreants.

The joke's on them, of course. But they don't understand that at all! (PS I wonder how many of them (since they're all elderly) are vaccinated.

You're very wise to be so cautious. If only the folks in Red States cared enough for their fellow Americans. It's a crying shame they care only for themselves.

Dave Dubya,

Trumpublicans owning the libs by killing themselves! It doesn't get any dumber than that.

The Republican Party used to be the party of personal responsibility. No longer. They're now the party of grievances, anti-science, anti-truth, and owning the libs.

I think we're seeing consequences of lawsuits against FOX(R). That's the only way I see them even considering cleaning up their act.

Ray and Dave Dubya,

I've read in reputable sources that Murdoch and the crews of FAUX NOOZ have all been vaccinated.

I think you're correct, Dave D., about law suits for spreading lies about the vaccine.
