By now...

everyone's heard about the homeless, and probably mentally disturbed, man who set fire to the FAUX NOOZ Xmas tree.

To hear the NOOZers' unceasing reports on this unfortunate incident, you'd think the wrecked Xmas tree signified the end of the civilized world. They couldn't let it go because they love to feed their viewers on fear and victimhood. The head of the RNC even blamed President Biden for the vandalized tree!

"From its early reports, though, Fox News’s on-air team framed the tree burning within the context of a broader story that has been a continuous theme on the network, particularly during the Biden administration: an argument that criminality is on the rise in the United States."

Speaking as a former conservative republican (tRump and cultists have managed to change my affiliation) it doesn't seem very likely the present playbook being followed by these hypocritical band of cultists is going to be rewritten or discarded anytime soon. The raging roaring mass of whininhg blubbering "victims" won't rest until they've managed to Take America Back to the Past.

As the nation weeps for its lost potential.

Georgia Republicans purge Black Democrats from county election boards

GRIFFIN, Georgia, Dec 9 (Reuters) - Protesters filled the meeting room of the Spalding County Board of Elections in October, upset that the board had disallowed early voting on Sundays for the Nov. 2 municipal election. A year ago, Sunday voting had been instrumental in boosting turnout of Black voters.

But this was an entirely different five-member board than had overseen the last election. The Democratic majority of three Black women was gone. So was the Black elections supervisor.

Now a faction of three white Republicans controlled the board – thanks to a bill passed by the Republican-led Georgia legislature earlier this year. The Spalding board’s new chairman has endorsed former president Donald Trump’s false stolen-election claims on social media.

Systemic racism? Ask any tRumpublican-republican racist and they'll assure you there is no systemic racism in Amerika. They'd likely go so far to say America has never been a racist country.

If you look back at when the photo of the KKK was taken they were all democrats at that time. Doesn't seem to have the significant impact as them being those mean republicans.

Dave... the article goes on...

"The unusual rash of restructurings follows the state's passage of Senate Bill 202, which restricted ballot access statewide and allowed the Republican-controlled State Election Board to assume control of county boards it deems underperforming. The board immediately launched a performance review of the Democratic-leaning Fulton County board, which oversees part of Atlanta."

Smart people might ask what constitutes an underperforming election board. The problem here are the following words... "The board immediately". No waiting. Immediately the GOP led board moved to dismiss the County Board of Electors in a place like Atlanta.

So here's a question for Skud and his fellow travelers... given that even Republicans in the state, including the Governor and Sec of State have said there was no fraud in the recent 2020 elections, why the need to eliminate the current Board of Elections? In what ways were they under performing?

Are Republicans at all troubled by this? Even a little?

Dubya is correct... systemic racism. Pure and simple. If not, what is it?

You missed the point, skud. It doesn't matter at what time in American history this was taken.

However, you enjoy reminding us here every chance you get that the KKK of the pre-Civil and Voting Rights acts was mostly SOUTHERN Democrats. What has NEVER CHANGED is that these men and women were SOUTHERNERS. They are now SOUTHERN TRUMPUBLICANS.

Let's see if skud will answer this without pointing out that members of the KKK were once Democrats.

What the Georgia state board of elections has engaged in is pure and simple racism.

What happened in Georgia is happening in many other Trumpublican controlled states so that they can control who wins in the next presidential election.

This is how democracy dies. And, IMO, the Trumpublicans in red states are hell-bent on doing everything in their power to grab and keep power. History is staring us in the face.

Shaw... your question will of course, be deflected. Because like many other tough questions, the current GOP, their partisans and assorted Democrat haters can't deal with facts and hard questions.

It's just easier to offer up straw men, talk about the swell guy, joey and Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi.

See that thing flying off into space? Yes, you're right; it's getting smaller and smaller every second as it nears the outer reaches of the Milky Way. It tries to spark, to draw as much attention as possible. Sadly, it can only muster a weak "Bfffttt" as it shakes it's little pod-body with frustration, screech out an anemic scream that wouldn't scare a bipolar hamster on speed, before falling off the end of logic altogether. It's not an unusual event, however. Far from it. It's just the point flying well over the head of Skidmark . . . again.
According to his very fuzzy but typical GQP logic; Every German should be hunted down and either arrested or killed because some of them were Nazi's; If you see a Norwegian person, or even just a blond person, (one can never be too sure), drop all you own and run for your life cause the Vikings have landed; Every white person secretly longs to own slaves, especially the ones in the South and West. For those of us non-white people, let's get busy. These lazy so and so's have left a LOT of work for us.

Skid, just as I don't want any more of your blankets and beads, I also no longer want your bullshit. You, and every other small brained right winger tries that whole - 'well, Democrats used to be this way ... yadda... yadda... yadda. As if ANY of your absurd argument makes a bit of difference. Republicans used to be fiscally mature, law abiding and unafraid to compete with their ideas and with the voters. Clearly, none of that is true anymore. Somehow you want to drag around 60 year old trash and take it to Show and Tell every week, but you want to forget what happened less than a year ago.

I won't be here to see it, but when (not if, sadly) this country rips apart and dissolves into squalor and bloodshed, just remember that you and all those who ascribe to your methods are responsible. I've made arrangements for most of my family to get out of here before it gets too bad. I trust they'll keep working to get the rest of them out. Good luck on meeting your Maker, Skid. You're gonna need it.

Ms. Shaw, Your distaste for Southerners is noted. As a native Texan I was brought up to believe there are two types of people in the country and that is those born in Texas and those that wish they were everyone else is just jealous.

As to controlling the outcome of elections, that didn't work well for the democrats in the last election except for the president and that didn't work well for the country.
Blueballs, I do remember what happened in January when one person died and the leftists can talk of nothing else. I also remember when a order was given to kill 13 civilians in afganastan and because he did it from the confines of his couch it was OK. This country has survived several incompetent leaders, carter, bush, obama, trump and they will survive the current one. The bloodshed from the left will be curtailed over time and your family can read about from abroad. That being said I wish blueballs a good trip. My maker passed a couple of decades ago but thanks for the good wishes.

Skud,
Is it stupid or evil to misrepresent someone's distaste for racist conservative Southerners as distaste for all Southerners?

"Georgia Republicans purge Black Democrats from county election boards" drew no reaction from you, for some reason.

I suppose you'd prefer to frame our reaction to this as "distaste for Georgians", instead of revulsion for those deplorable racist Republicans.

And like every radical Right defender of Republican racism, you need to deflect to the time when Southern Klansmen were democrat voters.

What lies behind this kind of reaction?

Perhaps it is is related to this particular reaction:

"I do remember what happened in January when one person died and the leftists can talk of nothing else."

Trump remembers that person as a martyr and honors her. What is your reaction to that?

No need to explain. We get the gist of it.

You seem to dismiss or ignore the reason WHY 1/6 happened in the first place, and WHY it is still so relevant.

Do you understand the Big Lie is still swallowed by millions, and is used as justification for the radical Right's voter suppression, seizing partisan control of election officials, and the power to nullify the results if they lose?

What you can't seem to grasp is the 1/6 coup is part of an ongoing war on democracy waged by the Trump Cartel and Republican state Houses and governors.

Dismissing or minimizing this makes you an abetting ally to the enemies of democracy and equality.

What you might regard as a "principled" or "rational perspective" on 1/6 comes across as cruel indifference.

We have to decide whether that is stupid or evil. Or maybe both.

skudrunner: "Your distaste for Southerners is noted."

Wrong. As Dave Dubya said, my distaste is for Southerners who instituted and ran the KKK.

My brother has lived in the South for 25 years and is married to a southern woman. I don't dislike him or his family. My step daughter and her family lived in Texas for 20 years. I had the pleasure of visiting Texas many times. I take people on an individual basis. The Texans I met during our visits were welcoming, generous, and kind.

Our entire family are from the South -- southern Italy. Southerners are southerners no matter what country they're from. Southern Italians were disdained by Northern Italians. Not so much today, but there's always been a prejudice against southern Italians by the Italians in the north who, by and large, did not immigrate to the New World in the same numbers as their southern brethren, who did out of necessity.

The Southerners who tortured, maimed, and killed their neighbors with impunity -- because of the color of their skin -- are the southerners I dislike.

You make blanket statements that are incorrect. The above quote by you is one of them.
