Forget about seeing anything about these jaw-droppingly explosive revelations about the GOP Trump enablers on any Trump-supporting blog or news site. Those GOP news sites and blogs will continue to pretend this assault on the very foundation of our democracy didn't happen or was nothing more than "a tiny bit of rowdiness." That's because they're cultists, and cultists never see their cult leader as anything but a hero, no matter how evil, how crazy, or how big a liar he is.
In fact, these revelations (from actual GOP emails) from Trump's inner circle will prove how Trump tried to pervert our democracy, steal an election, and have his thugs assault his own vice president so that he, Trump, could decertify the electoral college votes and install himself as the illegitimate POTUS.
Everyone's hair should be on fire!
The House committee now has solid evidence of Donald J. Trump's coup to overthrow the government of the United States.
Jennifer Rubin:
"The extent of this effort reached the highest levels of our government, and it runs right through Mr. Meadows.”
"Committee Vice Chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) used the wording from the federal obstruction statute to ask whether former president Donald Trump “corruptly” sought to “obstruct or impede Congress’s official proceedings.”
"Unlike many in the media and the White House, they made clear this was an attempt to overthrow democracy."
[SNIP]
"Cheney read text messages sent to Meadows on Jan. 6 by hosts Laura Ingraham, Brian Kilmeade and Sean Hannity, who all pleaded for him to get Trump to stop the Capitol violence. They knew how serious it was; they knew Trump could have stopped it. Yet since that day, they have all defended (if not revered) Trump and played down the seriousness of the scheme to overthrow the government. (Fox did not carry the hearing Monday evening, needless to say.)"
"As Cheney said, 'These text messages leave no doubt ... multiple Fox News hosts knew the president needed to act immediately.' And they leave no doubt about their cringeworthy pandering to Trump and his base, whom they helped radicalize."
"As Ingraham declared, 'This is hurting all of us.' ”
[SNIP]
"Donald Trump Jr. apparently sent multiple texts pleading with Meadows to persuade Trump to stop the violence. Cheney read from some: 'He’s got to condemn this s--- ASAP. The Capitol Police tweet is not enough. ... We need an Oval Office address. He has to lead now. It has gone too far. And gotten out of hand.' Meadows responded: 'I am pushing it hard. I agree. '
In short, Trump refused to heed pleas to call off the mob, endangering the lives of lawmakers and the vice president and grinding a constitutional process to a halt. Even Trump’s son knew this was a devastating event."

We are living within a pandemic of ignorance and deceit. All the evidence is before us, and Trumpublicans will do nothing more than shrug.
Trump's cultists idolize him, as he has helped legitimize the basest feelings of their nature. Nearly half this country hold no truths, no matter how black and white, to be self evident. They are a plague helping to decimate what's left of our institutions.
Ron Filipkowski
@RonFilipkowski:
What did we learn?
1. All the Fox hosts had Meadows' cell number.
2. They either didn’t have Trump’s, or he was blowing them off.
3. They believed Trump and only Trump had the ability to control the mob.
4. They believed they had influence over Trump and could get him to do what they wanted.
5. Meadows either never relayed their messages to Trump, or he blew them off.
6. Everyone in Trump’s orbit -- media, friends, WH staff, Cabinet, family, and Members of Congress -- were begging him to tell them to stop but he refused to do anything.

A certain percentage of Americans have decided that supporting Fmr Pres. Trump is more important than not just looking into what happened on 1/6, but even hearing the issues.
Look, I know we all see the Capitana on the HMS Mothership is a true believer, but I've seen her struggling at some small level with Trump. She's said he's done things, when she's aware of them, that are not good.
Perhaps, like some of the GOP during Nixon's day, she might, and maybe a few others, be persuaded to support democracy and not the coup of the Trump group.
Perhaps... I hope so.
If Republicans win majority at the mid term elections, they will cancel the Jan. 6th investigation committee. If Trump's buddies are willing to take the 5th, or go to jail to protect Trump, we will not learn enough to file criminal charges against Trump. We are still a long way from putting Trump in jail.
Jerry... I agree. Absent a huge turn around, Trump will never see a day in jail.
The mid terms are gonna be dicey. We're probably still in wait and see territory.
But... I do think the committee is going to hit the ground faster than ever after Jan 1. They know the stakes and know they've got to get this wrapped up before election season. I'm betting they will also ask the courts to act fast as this is gonna impact the elections.
Gonna be an interesting 2022, that's for sure.
Shaw... this is how the "Trump is Great" group thinks...
They ban anyone who doesn't agree with them and then pose questions like this...
"MY PROBLEM IS HOW THE HECK COULD TRUMP HAVE CALLED THIS [The Insurrection] OFF? WHY CAN I NEVER GET AN ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION I’VE ASKED FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW?"
Let's leave how bad her grammar is, remember, she's a teacher, and focus on the question... The reason the writer can't get an answer is because she'd have to talk to someone with a different opinion. Her blog is the very definition of closed echo chamber.
And she's not alone.
Is it any wonder folks like us and many others are breaking the emergency glass with ppl like this?
If the US of A were a sane nation tRump woud already be rotting in prison.
From VOX:
"The president needs to tell people in the Capitol to go home. This is hurting all of us. He is destroying his legacy,” Laura Ingraham texted to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. “Please, get him on TV — [the riot is] destroying everything you accomplished,” Brian Kilmeade wrote to Meadows. “Can he make a statement, ask people to leave the Capitol?” wrote Sean Hannity in yet another Meadows text.
The texts, revealed during a Monday hearing of the House January 6 Commission, were at odds with the hosts’ on-air comments on the night of the attack. Ingraham suggested that “antifa supporters” may have been responsible for the violence. Kilmeade took a similar line: “I do not know Trump supporters that have ever demonstrated violence that I know of in a big situation.” Hannity, for his part, asserted that “the majority of them were peaceful.”
This is tangible proof that some of Fox’s marquee personalities knowingly lied to their audience about January. The lying began basically immediately, in the direct aftermath of a national tragedy."
As much as it pains to say this, the reality is a significant percentage of Americans either support tRump blindly w/out question, or, simply hate democrats so much that even knowing the jakal tRump is just that continue to support him and the corrupt republican party. We are living in a new convoluted and very dangerous reality.
When the true history of 01/06/2021 is written (accurately) FOX Snooze and its lying pundits will be shown to be complicit. FOX, OAN, Newsmnax, et all are equally responsible for where we went 2017-2021 as tRump is.
These next few elections are going to be telling on where this nation is headed. The non-tRUMPers need to vote.
You say "tomato", I say "violent, treasonous coup attempt",
Tomato,
Violent treasonous coup attempt,
Let's call the whole thing off...
I truncated this for the sake of brevity, but my point being: the GOP is now perfectly comfortable denying reality, no matter what the evidence is, and preaching righteously to the base about what patriotic, persecuted victims they are living under the tyranny of the Dems.
All while they plan - in plain sight - to rig and fix upcoming elections to their favor.
How do you counter a mass delusion? Why do I feel like the next insurrection will be 10x worse?
Mike, RN, Dr. Tomato, Dave, Jerry,
The Trumpublians can't be any more clear on how they'll steal the next election. The 2020 election was a dress rehearsal for them. They've set the stage in the states that are controlled by GQP govs and legislatures and here's proof taken from an unnamed legislator on how they tried the first time:
"During the House floor debate, Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Democrat from Maryland who serves on the Jan. 6 panel, revealed another text message sent by an unnamed lawmaker to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows that shows some members were advocating an “aggressive strategy” that suggested Republican-controlled state legislatures “just send their own electors” and let the Supreme Court decide who won the election.
“Here’s an aggressive strategy: Why can t [sic] the states of GA NC PENN and other R controlled state houses declare this is BS (where conflicts and election not called that night) and just send their own electors to vote and have it go to the SCOTUS," the text read."
