(CNN)President Joe Biden on Tuesday took the rare step of weighing in on a controversial Florida bill that would ban certain discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity in the classroom, telling LGBTQ kids that he has their back.
"I want every member of the LGBTQI+ community — especially the kids who will be impacted by this hateful bill — to know that you are loved and accepted just as you are. I have your back, and my Administration will continue to fight for the protections and safety you deserve," Biden tweeted Tuesday evening.
The message from the White House on Tuesday condemning Republicans for advancing the bill was a rare step as Biden and his aides called the bill part of a larger trend of GOP leaders across the country taking actions to treat students like political pawns.
Republicans in Florida have advanced legislation, which opponents have dubbed the "Don't Say Gay" bill, that states school districts "may not encourage discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students."
It is not clear what would be considered "age" or "developmentally" appropriate. Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis appeared to voice support for the measure on Monday.

What ever you do you need to divert attention away from the incompetent administration. The democrats have 1/6 to focus attention on and now they have desantis allowing parents to have input in their children's education. This is unacceptable and doesn't bode well to bidens inability to do anything right, even CNN agrees he has done nothing right.
With all of the crisis started because of biden the democrats have trump, that's all just trump. If I remember correctly trump has not held office for over a year but the democrats can't have a day where everything is blamed on him. Even jen blamed the previous administration for high inflation and gas prices. At least joey admitted he doesn't know why inflation is so high.

Skud, you said nothing about Trump breaking another law. We talk about Trump because Trump's in the news again. We found out that he flushed down the toilet documents that belong to the American people. He broke the law again. Trump gets talked about because he's a never ending source of crime and we're not used to this sort of criminality in a president who took an oath to see that the laws be faithfully executed. That's news. Big news. An ex-president who committed crimes against his own country.
It's really hilarious to see you ignore the Infrastructure bill that got passed and the fact that President Biden got shots into people's arms because Trump ha NO PLAN to do that and the Biden administration had to come up with a plan the minute Pres. Biden took the oath of office. Jobs and GDP growth have been excellent, but there's been lots of problems as well. Inflation is a problem. Got any ideas why we have it? How do you solve it?
