THE STATE OF TEXAS CONFIRMS JUDGES KNOW MORE THAN MEDICAL EXPERTS WHERE IT CONCERNS A HUMAN LIFE

The Republican Texas Supreme Court:

Texas Supreme Court rules against woman who sued for an emergency abortion

Why would any woman in her right mind and of child-bearing age want to live in the dystopian Red state of Texas?

I believe a statement made by the court (not sure if judge or spokesperson) said the reason they ruled against the woman seeking the abortion is because her doctor wouldn't come to the courthouse to testify.

(Imagine my are you freaking kidding me face here)

Because if the doctor had testified after already providing their diagnosis and treatment regimen for abortion for medical reasons the doctor stood a good chance of being arrested and fined (and that's just the starter course. Paxton glommed onto this issue like a remora riding a whale). Talk about avoiding responsibility for their own hateful hurtful decisions. Now the court will hide behind this flimsy excuse. It's classic "see what you made me do" behavior practiced by every abuser ever.

Grey One talks sass,

As I said, this is not about protecting human life. Texas has some of the loosest, if not THE loosest gun laws, and it leads the US in deaths by firearms involving children.

This is about controlling women, punishing women, and patriarchy.

If there ever was a case for an exception to Texas’ draconian abortion laws, this was it.

Paxton is an odious bureaucrat and is facing a trial for securities fraud in April. IMO, he’s the face of all that’s wrong in the state of Texas.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Republicans lulled people into thinking abortion bans would not be overly restrictive because there would be “medical exceptions.” Now we know they were lying all and along and the plan was always to subjugate women. It’s utterly medieval and cruel

Shaw, I concur, and if I might add, in total alignment with the Christian nationalist views on being female. If my research is accurate, and it usually is, in the evangelical world men have rights and women have obligations.

To be honest I have mixed feelings about how this whole issue is playing out. On one hand I'm outraged and on the other I view this as an example of the MAGA GOP bottoming out. Their theocratic coup is stalling out, women of all stripes and colors are livid the MAGA GOP lied about their intent with abortion rights (I know - we libs did say...), and like an addict which MAGA GOP on power totally resembles, they have to bottom out before any healing can begin.

Scary times though. Very scary times. I haven't stopped my inner litany of For The Good of All and May It Harm None for a month. Will continue it until either those who scare me go away or I'm carted off- it could go either way.

I do have to hand it to the democrats by creating a media frenzy using some women as their poster person. She could have gone to another state and gotten an abortion but that would not have made a national uproar so she sacrificed her identity to serve the democrats, ie ford and kavanaugh, She will be forgotten soon but her message will live on.

I believe it is a women's right to decide on having an abortion because she has to live with her decision. I also believe trump and abortion will win the presidential election for the democrats. They certainly have no policy but neither do the republicans. If Nikki happens to win the nomination she will be the first female president because except a mumbling incompetent the democrats have no one else and she has a reasonable stand on abortion, open borders and a host of other things.

Any self respecting republican who was that would no longer be a republican. Republicans do not stand for life or liberty. They stand for statism and the authority of the STATE.

skud "She could have gone to another state and gotten an abortion but that would not have made a national uproar so she sacrificed her identity to serve the democrats, ie ford and kavanaugh,

How like a white conservative male to blame the victim for the horrible situation the state of Texas placed her in. Why in hell's name should ANY American woman have to leave her state to get common medical care for a catastrophic pregnancy. What about women who can't afford to leave Texas and get a medically needed abortion to save her life? Texas has now told those Texans that they should just DIE!

This, of course, is what the patriarchy does to women. And YES! millions and millions and millions of us will remember this. Look what's happened in conservative states that had keeping abortion rights in tact on their state referenda!

She will be forgotten soon but her message will live on."

And so it should!

I salute her and her family for her bravery in spitting in the eye of the anti-woman, anti-mother State of Texas.

Dave Miller said...

Skud... no, she could not have gone. It's against the law in her state and anyone who helps her is liable. So she did the right thing. She appealed under the law and got a waiver. That was then taken away.

Why should she have to travel for good medical care?

You're trying to obscure the fact that Texas law makers took away rights to good health care for women.

That's the issue.

You, attacking her for just not quietly leaving the state, add insult to injury.

If the politics look bad in this, change the law to make it better.

Dave Miller said...

And in Kentucky, a woman has to petition the courts to have a D&C after her embryo/fetus showed no cardiac activity.

In the before times, rather than carry her dead baby, this would quietly have been taken care of by the woman's doctor. But now?

For basic gynecological and pregnancy care, the woman has to get a court order.

I'm sure Skud will shame her too for going public rather than just traveling hundreds of miles to another state to get her care, most likely, out of network and at greater cost.

Dave Dubya said...

Skud: "They certainly have no policy but neither do the republicans."

Utter nonsense. The issue is abortion. Democrats support reproductive freedom and Republicans do not.

How is that complicated for you? Your simplistic "both sides" false equivalence is getting mighty stale.

Shaw Kenawe said...

New statement from President Biden:

"No woman should be forced to go to court or flee her home state just to receive the health care she needs. But that is exactly what happened in Texas thanks to Republican elected officials, and it is simply outrageous. This should never happen in America, period.

"Legal and medical chaos, as we are witnessing in states like Texas, Kentucky and Arizona, is a direct result of Roe v. Wade being overturned, and as we predicted would happen, women's health and lives now hang in the balance. Republican elected officials have imposed dangerous abortion bans that jeopardize women’s health, force them to travel out of state for care, and threaten to criminalize doctors. Their agenda is extreme and out-of-step with the vast majority of Americans.

"The Vice President and I will continue to fight to protect access to reproductive health care and to urge Congress to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade now so that women in every state have the right to make their own health care decisions."

From a friend on Twitter:

"This kate cox story and the texas supreme court has me tripping. Now Ken Paxton can turn this into a criminal investigation and subpeona her medical records. Which also opens her up to being sued for bounty laws currently in place. All because a woman who wanted to have a baby was gonna deliver a dead baby and was going by doctors orders as she was having complications and didn't want to jeopardize her chance to try again in the future.

This states rights argument and roe was unconstitutional is so trash, I mean its not like women had much say during the constitutional convention but this wasn't even an issue then. Did you know in Colonial America there was no social or religious burden for a woman to bear if she had an abortion? Did you know Ben Franklin himself wrote a manual on how to safe and effective abortions using just herbs?

1st laws of abortion didn't come onto the books until the 1820's and first laws for abortion before quickening weren't until the 1860's.

And this really just turned into a thing because of white supremacy as ppl were worried about being outbred and suppression of feminist movements.

And You Can see that in the 1882 Comstock act or in 1902 when Teddy Roosevelt called race suicide, "fundamentally infinitely more important than any other question in this country."

Or today's version of the great replacement theory that is being echoed the past few years by the right wing maga echo chamber.

And not for nothing, as a side note. the people who do argue that roe was unconstitutional and SCOTUS got it wrong... why don't you ppl ever bring up corporate personhood?

Anyway, just wanted to come on here real quick and let you small government, liberty, freedom loving conservatives know that you are easily the most full of sh*t people I have ever seen."

Under the new Texas abortion law, the woman who had the abortion can't be prosecuted.

I agree with you that she shouldn't have to travel to get good medical care but your statement was inaccurate, I don't accuse people of lying except maybe politicians. Ms. Shaw, TEXAS is turning purple thanks to the exodus of companies and people from Calif and NY. Flee a state because of corruption and massive taxes and then turn the state you are fleeing to into the same thing, makes no sense.

Trump and abortion will be the winning ticket for the democrats in 2024 unless people wake up and select a competent candidate to go against joey b.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skud: "Flee a state because of corruption..."

There's plenty of corruption in the highest places in Texas already:

"Texas appeals court weighing whether state bar can discipline Ken Paxton for challenging 2020 presidential election. The legal battle stems from the attorney general's unsuccessful 2020 lawsuit that leaned heavily on discredited claims of election fraud in other states.

KEN PAXTON IMPEACHMENT

After winning impeachment fight, Paxton still faces felony fraud case and an FBI investigation

The attorney general’s long-simmering securities fraud case appears closer to resolution, while the FBI has probed the same allegations that played a major role in his impeachment.

Paxton has long been dogged by allegations of fraud, corruption, and general impropriety—his state securities-fraud charges date from 2015—but, until recently, he seemed impervious to them. (He pleaded not guilty to the state charges, and April 2023 is set for the trial.)

In October, 2020, eight of Paxton’s ex-employees, all high-level staffers in the Texas attorney general’s office, accused their former boss of bribery, abuse of office, and other federal and state crimes. Last fall, Paxton was re-elected again, this time by a margin of nearly ten points."

It appears that Texas actually would WELCOME corruption from other states, since it rewards rank corruption by the Chief Law Enforcement Officer with re-election!

Whomever helped Kate Cox to leave the state to save her life (husband, mother, father, sister, brother, ANYONE!) could be held criminally responsible for getting her medical help.

"Texas has two primary laws restricting abortion. One makes it a felony to perform an abortion from the moment of fertilization, except for situations in which doctors, using "reasonable medical judgement," deem the procedure medically necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman or prevent "substantial impairment of a major bodily function."

The other law was enacted in September 2021, before the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade; it authorizes private citizens to file civil suits against anyone who provides or abets an abortion after about six weeks of pregnancy.

Since travel assistance could theoretically count as abetting an abortion, several legal experts said that Cox's husband — or any friend or family member who helped her leave Texas — may still be vulnerable to lawsuits. Cox’s lawyers did not disclose her location or give additional details about who, if anyone, helped her seek an out-of-state abortion.

“Anybody with knowledge who’s actively participating to help the pregnant person achieve an abortion — driving them to the other state, flying with them, being there step by step with that person — those are the individuals that would be at risk,” said Joseph Veith, a criminal law attorney in El Paso.

Citizens who sue under that Texas law — known as SB 8 — are eligible to receive at least $10,000 in damages.

“This is such a high-profile case that it will probably attract people who are interested in filing these lawsuits,” Veith said."

So, Kate's husband, wanting to protect his wife and preserve her wish and her ability to have more children, can be criminally liable for helping her leave the state to save her life.

Does that make you feel better about the laws in Texas?

Dave Miller said...

Skud... My statement, that the woman could have left, was wrong. Texas has no law against leaving the state to get an abortion. There is a law however, for anyone helping her leave the state to get an abortion. And I'm guessing sin e she's been to the ER at least 4 times during her pregnancy, she'd need a driver or a helper on the journey. That person, under Texas law, would be liable under this statute. As I also said...

Section 171.208 of the Texas Health and Safety Code
This section allows a third party to bring a lawsuit against anyone who performed, aided, or abetted an abortion.

But again, the issue and focus should be on the GOP in Texas that took doctors out of the health care discussion for women during their pregnancy.

Why would anyone vote GOP when this is what happens?

This women did everything "right" in the eyes of the GOP. She did not have an unplanned pregnancy, she's married and wanted a third child. She got pregnant and things went bad. She made, along with her husband, an incredibly hard decision to have an abortion.

Following advice from her doctor.

But the GOP believes the doctor is lying when he says this is the best case for the woman and her desire to still have children. When he advised her that the soon to die fetus is an ongoing health danger and carrying the pregnancy to full term could permanently harm her.

Why is the focus on anything else other than good, safe, effective health care for this woman and the reasons why she cannot get that in Texas?

Dave Miller said...

Skud... question for you.

If the candidates in Nov are Trump and Biden, for whom will you vote? Or will you stay home?

You've stated your disgust time and time again for Biden, I get it. But you've also shared the thought that Trump is incompetent, otherwise there would be no need for the GOP to select a "competent" candidate.

So what would you do?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Our friend, skud, will not answer that. I'm guessing that is because there is no logical, moral, or political reason to have denied this woman the medical care the doctors said she needed.

Instead, politicians and judges denied her the medical care she needed -- medical care that those politicians and judges had no medical knowledge of in this woman's particular case.

Where on this planet would anyone ask a politician or judge instead of a doctor to make a life-threatening decision on a health emergency?

Not where sane people dwell. Texas has lost its collective mind. It is on record for allowing politicians and judges to decide the best medical care for women and girls whose pregnancies threaten their lives.

Insanity. This is what happens when religious dogma becomes law. It's what happened in Salem, Massachusetts, during the Salem witch trials, and what happened in the Dark Ages when the Church was the law.

And now it's in Texas and spreading throughout our secular country.

Three years ago, Kate Cox and others in her situation would have been seen by their OB/GYN and a decision to save her life would have been anyone's but her and her family's business, as it would not have been anyone's business regarding other girls or women in the same predicament. And nothing would have happened because it would have been a private decision without the world knowing it.

The same with the unfortunate woman in Ohio who miscarried a dead fetus into the toilet, and now is being criminally held for having done what MILLIONS of girls and women have done for hundreds of years without the long arm of the religionists in government coming to punish her.

Jeff Tiedrich doesn't hold back:

"sometimes, nature f**ks up in the most extraordinary way. it’s nobody’s fault. it just happens.

Kate Cox is the mother of two children. she and her husband wanted a third, and so — spoiler alert — she became pregnant.

good news, right? unfortunately, in this case, no — because of that sometimes nature f**ks up thing.

Kate’s fetus bears an extra copy of chromosome 18 — a condition known as Trisomy 18. this syndrome causes a fetus to have multiple severe defects, to the heart, the brain, appendages and elsewhere.

in most cases, such a fetus dies in utero and is still birthed, or is born and lives a few minutes or hours.

to add more horror to this story, if Kate brings her pregnancy to term, it will very likely damage her uterus — ending her ability to have the third child she wants.

in a civilized country, Kate Cox would be free to terminate her pregnancy and try again — but she doesn’t live in a civilized country. she lives in America. even worse, she lives in the state of Texas.

Texas, the poster state for medieval governance, has decided that a super f**king cool thing to do would be to torment and humiliate Kate Cox.

Texas is one of these forced-birth states were abortion is virtually outlawed, with almost no exception.

in Kate’s case, she was forced to appear before a judge and beg to be allowed to terminate her pregnancy.

that’s right, a judge got to decide what was best for Kate. not a doctor, not a trained medical professional, a judge.

what kind of upside-down bullshit is this?

Texas of course, fought against Kate as hard as they could.

Johnathan Stone, an attorney with the Texas attorney general’s office who represented the state in the hearing, argued that Cox and her husband had not sufficiently demonstrated that they would suffer “immediate and irreparable injury” without an abortion.

“The only party that’s going to suffer an immediate and irreparable harm” if the judge grants the requested order, he said, “is the state.”

excuse me, what? the state will be harmed?

if we can’t treat women like cattle, if we can’t force them to give birth, the state will be harmed?

f**k straight off with this fascist nonsense."

(Cont.)

Shaw Kenawe said...

(Cont.)

"Travis County District Judge Maya Guerra Gamble ultimately issued the restraining order allowing Kate to end her pregnancy.

“The idea that Ms. Cox wants desperately to be a parent, and this law might actually cause her to lose that ability is shocking and would be a genuine miscarriage of justice,” Gamble said.

so Kate Cox gets to have her abortion because of the fact that she wants to try again.

what if Kate hadn’t wanted another pregnancy? would she have still been allowed to terminate this one? why is a judge the one to decide this? why not the pregnant woman?

what f**king business is it of the judge’s — or the state’s?

when Ken Paxton, Texas’s corrupt-as-f**k Attorney General heard the news, he threw a sh*t fit, promising to prosecute and imprison anyone helping Kate to terminate her pregnancy.

In a statement Thursday afternoon, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said that the judge’s order “will not insulate hospitals, doctors, or anyone else, from civil and criminal liability for violating Texas’ abortion laws. This includes first degree felony prosecutions.”

In a letter to three Texas hospitals where Cox's doctor has practiced, Paxton warned that the facilities could be found liable for negligently credentialing her or for failing to exercise appropriate professional judgment in allowing the doctor to perform an abortion.

holy sh*t.

why are we torturing this woman? what f**ked-up god does this serve?

why? because f**k you, that’s why. because patriarchy. because Texas.

incredibly, Republicans still think that forced-birth cruelty is a political win for them — even after getting f**king crushed at the polls in 2022.

just last month, Ronna McDaniel doubled down on this on Meet the Press.

Rona Daniels: “I’m proud to be a pro-life party. we can win on this message. the American people are where we are, and they want common sense limitations, they want more access to adoption, we want to make sure that there are pregnancy crisis centers. these are things we can win on. but we have to talk about it, and you can’t hide in a corner and think that abortion’s not going to be an issue.”

Republicans are still out here falling all the f**k over each other in a mad dash to see which state can be the cruelest.

the New Hampshire GOP just proposed legislation that would ban abortions after 15 days.

Four Republican legislators in New Hampshire will introduce a bill that would ban abortion at “15 days” gestational age, according to a copy of the bill they pre-filed.

that’s not a misprint. 15 days, not weeks — before any woman could know she’s pregnant.

and of course Little Donny F**kface is hogging the credit for ending Roe.

“Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to,” he wrote. “Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. Thank you President TRUMP!!!”

back in 2016, Candidate Trump said that women who had abortions should be “punished.”

Matthews pressed again: “Do you believe in abortion or no as a principle?”

“The answer is there has to be some form of punishment,” Trump said.

“For the woman?” Matthews said.

Trump said, “Yes,” and nodded.

Matthews pressed further: 10 days or 10 years? Trump said he didn't know, and that it’s “complicated.”

no one took Trump seriously at the time. Trump was just being Trump, we were told. set against the firehose of f**knuttery that never stops rocketing out of Trump’s mouth, this was just another quickly-forgotten sound bite.

“calm down,” we were told, “Roe is settled law.”

yet here we are in 2023, with women forced to beg judges to allow them to have healthcare.

keep it up, you f**king ghouls.

women are pissed off. no woman likes this sh*t. not even Republican woman.

enjoy getting crushed at the polls again next November."

Dave Miller said...

Tiedrich quotes Ronna McDaniel, nee Romney with this... "...they [the GOP and their supporiters in the 'pro life' movement] want more access to adoption, we want to make sure that there are pregnancy crisis centers. these are things we can win on."

No. They. Don't!

How do we know this? Because in not one state where the GOP has banned or limited abortion have they proposed a funding mechanism to make these options happen or to expand access.

Not one.

The GOP keeps trying to say what they are for... better mental health care after every mass shooting for example. But when the time comes to fund those things they are "in favor of" they are nowhere to be found.

Jim Wallis likes to say the budget is a "moral document" and how you choose to spend the people's money says a lot about your morals. Well, if that's true, I think we can see pretty clearly what the GOP thinks about being "Pro Life".

They reject it.

Oh skud, even the current political field wasn't the binary choices we have today you'd find something to complain about. I've worked with customers like you before.

I want white - paints it snow white. No, not that white, white white. Paints it white, eggshell, cotton, alabaster, cloud, pearl... nope to the power of nope.

Nothing will satisfy skud. Ever.

And with skud's lack of providing any evidence their claim Pres Biden is incompetent appears to be projection so in what way are you incompetent in your life skud? I mean the numbers prove you are lying.

As for investigations proving nothing.... skud, have you read the evidence provided in the two impeachment trials on the former guy? There was a lot of evidence the GOP dismissed just as you are doing. The Democratic party had to prove high crimes and misdemeanors before the vote to impeach was brought to the floor.

I want to know what drugs you are taking to have forgotten the past seven years. Strong stuff to be sure.

That said, none of your comment was on topic so... here we go, back to the issue at hand:

Texas has a problem right now. They told Mrs Cox her doomed fetus has more rights than herself. Meanwhile a state prison security guard was told to "finish their shift and work through her pain" when she went into labor at work. The prison guard up loosing the very much wanted baby all while endangering her reproductive health. She sued (rightfully so) but the State of Texas is saying they don't have to pay out because the fetus wasn't a full person yet so no monetary damages are due.

Paxton screwed up on this one - you'd think as AG of Texas he'd have known the position the State was taking on the security guard case. Almost as if he hasn't a clue and all he really wants to do is control women. You know there are clubs for those sorts of humans - just saying.

It does seem the majority of voters do no want biden because he has not done a good job. I disagree with that assessment because except for his having two wars started, open border crisis, record breaking high inflation, cities experiencing highest crime in history and dividing the country I think he has done a wonderful job. According to his press person all of those things were the previous administrations fault so biden is mr. magnificent.

Unfortunately it looks like a biden - trump rematch and with abortion being at the forefront and the republicans digging their feet in the sand biden is the winner then we can deal with creulla as a likely successor. Can it get any worse?

SKUD: "...open border crisis..." The Republican controlled legislative branch of government, the House, is going on Christmas break soon, and instead of doing some work with the POTUS on the border crisis, they've opened an impeachment inquiry (with no evidence) on President Biden and previously wasted time in the House showing dick pics of Hunter Biden's genitals as important work of the House of Representatives. Has crime increased in the US 2023?

A report released in July by nonpartisan think tank the Council on Criminal Justice used data from 37 surveyed cities. It found that murders dropped 9.4% in the first half of 2023 compared to the first half of 2022. Per FBI: In 2022, violent crime overall, which includes homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, dropped modestly. Violent crime was 1.7% lower in 2022 than in 2021, the FBI said.

SKUD: "...and dividing the country..." Yes, we heard the man leading in the MAGApublican race for the nomination call Liberals "vermin," and continues to lie about the 2020 election, calling it rigged. Ms. Shaw, The African crisis started prior to joey b taking the throne. Ukraine and Israel are during his watch.

Crime is not just murder and according to CCJ:
- Motor vehicle thefts continued their upward trend through the first half of 2023. There were 33.5% more motor vehicle thefts from January through June 2023 compared to the first half of 2022. The number of drug offenses increased by 1% over the same period.
- Domestic violence incidents increased by 0.3% in 11 cities during the first half of 2023 compared to the first half of 2022.
- Violent crimes remain elevated compared to 2019, the year prior to the COVID pandemic and racial justice protests of 2020. There were 24% more homicides during the first half of 2023 than during the first half of 2019 in the study cities.

After 3 years of open border policy why would anyone expect the administration to do anything about US security so why not go on a break. 2.5 Million crossings in 2023. (FY) 2023 represent a new historic high, topping the prior year's record, as has been widely noted since the recent release of year-end government statistics.

Inflation was up 4.7% in 2021, 8.0% in 2022 3.1% in 2023. Although it is coming down from two years ago the cumulative rate is 16% since joey took office.

Guess you can make statistics say whatever way you want but yours seem to be incorrect but they are slanted to show a sign of competence.

skud "Ukraine and Israel are during his watch."

Are you okay? Why would you make that statement?

How is Netanyahu's intelligence failure that led to the Hamas attack Joe Biden's fault.

Answer that for us.

As well as how Putin's illegal invasion of a sovereign country is Biden's fault.

Also, crime in individual states is not under the president's control. It is under the governors of those states' control. So what are you talking about.

The border is a legitimate issue. But every president up to and including Biden has not been able to fix that problem. It's an AMERICAN problem, involving the Executive and Legislative Branches of government.

I didn't make the stats say whatever I want. Those stats were taken from the FBI website. I didn't make them up.

PS. Gas prices, which the POTUS does NOT control, however are dropping. I paid $3.20 last time I filled up.

Arrests and deportations by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) increased in fiscal year 2022 after plummeting to record-low levels in 2021, according to a government report released Friday.

During fiscal year 2022, a 12-month span between Oct. 2021 and Sept. 30, 2022, ICE deportation agents carried out 142,750 immigration arrests and 72,177 deportations, increases of 93% and 22%, respectively, compared to the previous fiscal year.

While the number of deportations in fiscal year 2022 is the second-lowest tally recorded by ICE, it represents a notable increase from 2021, when arrests and deportations by the agency plunged due to the coronavirus pandemic's impact on operations and new Biden administration policies that narrowed the population of deportable immigrants agents were instructed to prioritize for deportation.

According to Skud's irrational thinking, Trump is to blame for all the covid deaths in the US.

Dube, Yep 72000 deportations out of 2.5 million entering illegally or claiming asylum. I take it you have visited the border in Texas and Arizona because you seem to be an expert so I will accept your figures as true.

Ms. Shaw, I never said biden was responsible I just said it was under his watch so you either didn't read what I wrote or you choose to accuse me of not telling the truth.
Yes inflation is coming down but the cumulative rate is hurting the most vulnerable which is the poor and middle class. By your example it seems biden is not responsible for anything other than giving money for votes.

skud "Ms. Shaw, I never said biden was responsible I just said it was under his watch..."

The meaning of "under his watch" which you wrote about Mr. Biden and the Ukraine and Israeli wars ACTUALLY MEANS President Biden IS responsible for what happened.

Here is the meaning:

What is the meaning of under your watch?

The phrase "under your watch" is correct and usable in written English. You can use it to refer to a period of time when someone has control or responsibility, for example: "The economy greatly improved under your watch.".

SKUD:"...it seems biden is not responsible for anything other than giving money for votes."

You ignored or didn't understand my comment. I wrote this:

"The border is a legitimate issue. every president up to and including Biden has not been able to fix that problem. It's an AMERICAN problem, involving the Executive and Legislative Branches of government."

Other readers here have noted that you are NOT a careful reader of their comments and ignore the comments they do address in answer to your posts.

You did it again with me (and often do). You misread and misunderstand what other people and also what I write in answer to your comments.

Finally, when you write that something happened under someone's watch, in written and spoken English, THAT INFERS RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ACTION THAT OCCURRED AT THE TIME OF "THE WATCH."

Now you know.

skudrunner said...

By your definition I guess biden had control and responsibility for the wars. I was giving him a pass but you correctly pointed out that he is partially responsible.

By another definition:
"under his watch" is correct and usable in written English.
It is generally used to refer to a situation or set of circumstances that occurred while someone else was in charge.

Like statistics, definitions come in several meanings and can be turned to prove a point. 2.5 million illegals have crossed the border but according to dube 72000 were sent back so all is good. Depends on which side of the argument you are on and we look at issues through a different lens.

Skud shamelessly calls the border "open" despite the thousands of deportations and arrests for drug trafficking that SEIZED record amounts of fentanyl.

No border is as closed as mind.

Dave Dubya said...

If Skud thinks 142,750 immigration arrests AND over 72,000 deportations means an "open border", he is being either stupid or dishonest. Either way it REEKS of MAGA mentality.

Just look at how dishonestly he represented my opinion of the situation as "all good".

I would add shameless as well. There's no reasoning with him. He rejects or ignores facts he doesn't like.

Okay, skud. Let me explain this very. slowly. to. you.:

You stated that the wars in Ukraine and Israel happened "under Biden's watch."

I responded asking you how is President Biden responsible for Putin invading a sovereign country, Ukraine, and how is he responsible for Netanyahu's intelligence failure in the Hamas attack on Israelis.

You responded: "Ms. Shaw, I never said biden was responsible I just said it was under his watch..."

To which I responded by posting the meaning of "under watch": "when someone has control or RESPONSIBILITY, for example: "The economy greatly improved under your watch.".

You then responded to my comment with this:

"By your definition I guess biden had control and responsibility for the wars. I was giving him a pass but you correctly pointed out that he is partially responsible."

Back to full circle!!

First of all, you did NOT give Biden "a pass" by stating "under his watch" those wars happened;

Second, what I posted isn't "MY" definition. It is the dictionary'S definition.

Third, you circled back to your first claim that the wars happened on Biden's "watch," (which means RESPONSIBILITY) by accepting the definition I posted, WHICH YOU ORIGINALLY DENIED YOU SAID!

It is more than difficult and insupportable to try to have a conversation with someone who does not know or care about the meaning of words. Or, as others have suggested, someone who may have reading comprehension difficulties.

You obviously cannot see what you did in my response to showing you what the definition of "under watch" means.

How can we have a conversation when you demonstrate here, in your own words, that you don't know what words mean?

Shaw... you're just now seeing the sophistry of so much of Skud's reasoning?

I do however want to believe he's not a -FJ rabble-rouser.

But the jury is till out.

At least IMHO.

I don't believe skudrunner is wily like -FJ and his other personas are.

I can't help but think that skud doesn't actually read and comprehend the meanings of the words posted here, and that he listens to or reads only what confirms his biases.

I admit I sometimes do the same.

But I do try to be careful about the meanings of words.

And I have said that Hunter Biden must face the consequences of his actions. But at the same time I have compassion for what he's been through in his life. Some people have the strength to get through incomprehensible tragedies; some do not. And those who cannot turn to drugs and other substances to dull their pain. I know this from observing certain relatives and friends).

I also believe that we need to solve the border problem, and that will take effort and compromises with the executive and legislative branches. I've seen no movement to solve this over the last 30 years.

skudrunner said...

Just because you choose a different dictionary to define meanings does not mean I don't read or comprehend what is being discussed. The border problem as you describe it has been expanded into a crisis under the current regime. It was much better under the evil one which is one of the things he did right.

Guess I should have said Ukraine and Israel conflicts happened while biden was in office so you will be clear what I said. Is joey b responsible for the increase in street crime, no but he has done little to combat it while he is condemning the maga crowd every day. The fbi is far to busy looking into parents who voice an opinion on their kids education to go after criminals.

I don't believe we will ever know what happened with the biden money laundering or if there was any. The republicans just want to go after the democrats because they tarnished their idol and they need to do their job, actually both sides should either resign or go to work.

There is no both sides equivalency regardless skud's insistence there is. That claim is seen only through a horribly skewed and completely dishonest filter of either wilful ignorance or delusion..

Skud lies as reflexively as a MAGA cultist. He regurgitates bullshit just like them without any consideration for what he's saying.

"The fbi is far to busy looking into parents who voice an opinion on their kids education to go after criminals."

This is indoctrination. He sucks it up without questioning it. He doesn't CARE that only MAGA parents who THREATEN teachers get investigated.

How lame can he get??? He keeps proving he DOESN'T give a DAMN about the facts.

He's probably wondering why those "nasty black election workers" sued Giuliani for LYING about them. Their lives were threatened by MAGA thugs. Skud thinks the people who do the threatening are the VICTIMS.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skud Every dictionary I consulted defines "...during his/her watch." as having responsibilty for whatever happens on his/her watch.

Let's leave it there.

Border problems? Here's what the Cato Institute said about Trump on that issue:

MARCH 10, 2021 3:35PM
Trump’s Border Policies Let More Immigrants Sneak In
By David J. Bier

President Trump’s top policy priority was supposedly “border security.” But government data show that he failed to improve it. Border Patrol recorded 41 percent more successful illegal entries in fiscal year 2019 than in 2016 and was on pace for 47 percent more through four months of 2020. As he left office in January, reports indicate that the numbers have reached even greater heights."

As for President Biden doing something about crimes in states, what would you have the federal government do? Interfere in the individual states' law enforcement? Addressing crime in individual states is a function of those states' governors, not the POTUS.

skud: "I don't believe we will ever know what happened with the biden money laundering..."

That's because the MAGAs in the House did not find any evidence. Sorry you're disappointed.

You apparently believe every rumor the MAGAs put out there about the Bidens? Your comment implies that.

Do better.

Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs said she issued the executive order because “the federal government is refusing to do its job to secure our border and keep our communities safe.”

“I am taking action where the federal government won’t,” Hobbs said.

skud This post was supposed to be about Kate Cox and the injustice the State of Texas visited upon her, forcing her to leave the state to receive normal medical care for a doomed pregnancy.

Instead, it became a discussion about the border and your favorite trashing points about President Biden and the job he's doing.

This post is about the state of Texas and its absurd abortion laws.
