Meidas Touch:

🚨 “This is stunning — and dangerous: The Trump administration’s much-hyped 28-point “peace plan” for Ukraine — the one Trump claimed Zelensky had days to accept or the U.S. would pull support — turns out not to be a U.S. plan at all. According to new reporting from PBS NewsHour’s Nick Schifrin, senators were just briefed that the document actually originated from Russia.

Sen. Mike Rounds confirmed that the plan was delivered to Trump envoy Steve Witkoff by someone believed to be representing Russia. Sen. Angus King says the document is “essentially the wish list of the Russians.”

Meanwhile, Trump endorsed it. His spokesperson publicly touted it. Allies condemned it. And Ukraine was told to treat it as an American proposal.

This isn’t a “leak.”

This is a foreign influence crisis reaching directly into U.S. national security decision-making.

How did a Russian-drafted ultimatum to Ukraine end up being pushed by Trump’s team as American policy?

And why is Rubio now denying involvement after Axios reported he helped craft it?”

If what is being reported is accurate, what the MAGA crowd and indeed the GOP has been saying since the Reagan Administration, that our incompetent government is the problem, is true.

The GOP's self fulfilling prophecy?

I read some things being proposed and it is obvious either russia wrote it or had great influence. Russia gets a significant amount of territory, Ukraine cannot join NATO and in trade for that they don't get slaughtered.
Why doesn't everyone freak out that trump is taking credit for something someone else did. This conflict has gone on way to long and should have been a short lived skirmish but to many restrictions were placed on Ukraine as to what they could attack with and where.

We are approaching the first year of trump 2 so many of his cabinet will be replaced by different incompetents. It would be an error to replace Rubio because he is actually competent but no one could blame him for bailing.

Of topic a bit, sorry Dave because I know you hate it when I go off topic, now trump is proposing to send the covid obamacare bump directly to the consumer. It has been proven that many people cannot handle money and this would be another example.

Since taxes and regulation of commerce are constitutional duties of government, the Right does their utmost to undermine it and assure that it fails when they hold power.
Their answer is to let authoritarian oligarchs run our country.

Europe and NATO will stick with Ukraine. The Russians came across their border like the Japanese at Pearl Harbor or the Nazis in Poland. Of course Trump and his loyal et. al. don't know history, or care.

BB-Idaho said...

My guess - Ukraine and Europe won't buy it. An abject surrender of territory to an invader that targets civilians. They will fight on until there is a US administration with backbone instead of chaos.

Marco Rubio made a fool of himself saying first it was a Russian plan, then changed his mind and claimed it was Trump's plan. It clearly is a Russian plan, giving them everything they want.

This is amateur foreign policy at its worst! Is there anything this befouled administration CAN'T mess up????

It's obvious that Trump is out of the loop and knows NOTHING! This is the guy who keeps telling America and the world that no one knows more about EVERYTHING than he! When, in fact, he's a functioning illiterate.

Incompetence is actually considered high competent in the tRump regime and therefore it is highly valued by the loyal MAGAts.

Observation: I'm old enough to remember two humans executed for the crime of talking with and passing info to Russia back in the day. So now, because it's all out in the open, it's OK that our top officials aren't just feeding Russia information they are adopting Russian policy decisions as their own? I'm watching in real time a long time adversary achieve their goal of destroying our country from the inside.

Observation: weird how the 'deal' Trump made for the rare earth minerals is the exact land the Russians want ceded to them? I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

Observation: We are in the midst of a coup. I've read this book and watched the movie as the incompetents who fail to understand the depth of their incompetence take charge in an authoritative made for casting way before driving the whole kit and kaboodle into the wall of a cliff. Even if every member of the Trump regime was to go poof the damage is done.

One last observation: after years and years of hyping the Republican health care alternative to the Affordable Care Act Trump cancelled his press conference yesterday called to announce his health care plan. And it was announced that GOP congress critters are talking up a plan to kick the health care can down the road for a couple more years by maintaining the about to expire subsidies. It's almost as if the whole topic of health care is hard.

Update - nope, the GOP said they'd listen to the Dem's ideas. Apparently they are saying nope to the power of no way. The ACA subsidies must end at the close of year 2025.

Again I have questions based on my observing the ripples caused when so many humans were suddenly out of work. They have no paycheck so they aren't spending at the businesses in their towns. Those businesses no longer have the demand so they have to lay off folks... and the dominos keep falling. But to what end? Also worth noting is if all those immigrants have been farmed off to other countries why does the Trump admin need to build more prisons?

Oh... I get it. The Trump admin (yes I know who is pulling the strings but I won't name them because they want the spotlight) needs those prisons to hold all the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ American citizens guilty of the crime of existing. Welcome to the new (same as the old) slave labor racket where one can just imprison anyone they don't like and squeeze them of their labor until they die.

Lovely.

Yup, clearly this nation has selected the quickest road to ruin. The authoritarian fool in charge and his ass kissing sycophants will successfully end this country's sense of decency, the rule of law, and democracy itself by the end of this term. Do not be a bit surprised when theKSoA remains sitting in the Oval Office come February 2029.
