TRUMP'S PRESIDENCY CONDENSED INTO A SINGLE DEBACLE: THE REFLECTING POOL

"This will last for at least 50 years and you'll never have a leak," Trump said at the time. "I don't want to give anybody ideas, [but] if you had a knife, you can't even cut it. So strong, so powerful. It's like powerful rubber."

 Donald J. Trump, May 2026

CBS: We were in here in April when you first showed us plans…

Trump: I did what?

CBS: When you showed us pictures of what you were going to do on the Mall. You said you had a guy who was going to do it in a week for about a million dollars. It’s been two months and $14.5 million…

Trump: Okay. Okay. Are you ready? Barack Hussein Obama. Have you ever heard of him?

CBS: Yes.

Trump: He spent two years and over $100 million on trying to fix it. [Obama spent $37 million.] And you know what happened to it? It never even opened. [Yes, it opened.] He took the water from the river. You know about that, right? It turned out to be putrid. And it destroyed the whole thing. [No, it didn’t.] He spent over $100 million. [No, he didn’t.] Him and Biden together spent $147 million. [No they didn’t.] You know what happened. It never opened. [Yes, it did. And it was open under Trump in the intervening years.] You don’t mention that, right? We spent about ten. [They spent $16 million.] They were going to spend $300 to $400 million, you know that, right? [No, they weren’t.] And it was going to take four years. I spent, I spent six or seven weeks. Probably $10 million. [$16 million.] They say $16 million, but a lot of that is workers that work around there. [No. Only the lobbyists on K. Street are pulling down that much, not the ground crew on the Mall.] So they were going to spend $400 million. [No.] I spent $10. [No.] They were going to spend four years. [No.] I spent two months, maybe, less. And I have a better product. Now I can’t help it if somebody goes in with a knife and starts hacking it up.”

Michael Jochum:

"The Reflecting Pool was supposed to be a monument to Donald Trump’s greatness. Instead, it has become a monument to his presidency. I honestly cannot think of a more perfect metaphor if I tried. There it sits in the heart of the nation’s capital, a fourteen-million-dollar vanity project that was supposed to showcase competence, efficiency, strength, and the legendary deal-making prowess we have been hearing about for a decade. Instead, Americans are looking at algae-green water, peeling paint, dead ducks, accusations of sabotage without evidence, no-bid contracts, missed deadlines, ballooning costs, and a president insisting everything is beautiful while everyone can plainly see otherwise. If that is not the Trump presidency condensed into a single image, I do not know what is."

The reflecting pool is a great monumenr to the lying malignant narcissist's gross incompetency.

Yet his easily duped MAGAs refuse to accept the glaringly obvious.

As the Ring Master of the MAGA Circus wields his destructive axe across the land. And his spineless groveling party supports his destruction.

On May 7th POTUS Trump said... "I don't want to give anybody ideas, [but] if you had a knife, you can't even cut it. So strong, so powerful. It's like powerful rubber.”

That's the same day he and his motorcade drove on the newly recovered surface.

The "Beast" which Trump rides in weight 8-10 tons. The othered armored cars in his motorcade weigh in the range of 6 tons.

Many experts have pointed out that the pool beds and concrete were never designed to be driven on, especially by "military grade" and "weighted" vehicles.

On June 20th and again on June 22nd, POTUS Trump stated someone vandalized the pools by cutting a 200 foot gash in the supposedly uncuttable liner.

Wrong or lying?

How can we tell?

Vandalism is the hallmark of the new Socialist Democrat Party... you should be so proud!

You've demonstrated why MAGA is considered a plague on our country.

Where's the evidence that vandalism was the cause of the Reflecting Pool's damage? Trump's word?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Because we all know the value of Trump's word on anything.

But we can actually SEE with our own eyes the vandalism Trump has inflicted on D.C. The grounds of the WH where he had his UFC punch fest; the destruction of the East Wing, the tarp that is still covering the area on the JFK Performing Arts Center, because he's a petty little tyrant who doesn't want the public to see that his name was removed! And now the latest insult:

He's erected a metal fence around the Reflecting Pool:--The filtration and water-purification work at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was awarded to a company (Greenwater Services) ultimately owned by John J. Cafaro, a twice-convicted felon and long-time Trump donor who previously pleaded guilty to bribing a U.S. congressman.

Federal records revealed that the Department of the Interior bypassed competitive bidding to give a $1.7 million contract to Greenwater Services of Brookfield, Ohio. The firm's ultimate owner is the J.J. Cafaro Investment Trust, headed by John J. Cafaro, a Mar-a-Lago neighbor and political donor to Donald Trump.

In 2001, Cafaro pleaded guilty to felony conspiracy to bribe then-Congressman James A. Traficant Jr.. He later pleaded guilty to a second felony in 2004 regarding illegal campaign finance loans."

You inane claim that the Democratic Party is the party of vandals is so silly, so utterly false, one could only understand anyone claiming it by understanding their willful ignorance around what is actually happening under Trump in D.C.

The current Republican Party is a functioning crime syndicate.

The convicted felon president hires other convicted felons to grift money from the taxpayers of America.

This is what happens when naive and uniformed Americans put a crook in charge of our government.

Shaw demonstrates exactly why we are in a mess. POTUS Trump doesn't just lie about the "normal" political stuff, he lies about everything. And it started on day one of his first term with his crowd size BS.

Nothing is too big, or too small for Trump to lie about.

Thus, any foreign government, dissenting American and Congressional leader with a different viewpoint is always left wondering where the truth lies with Trump.

So he said whatever about the pond. So what. No one believes him. Even his most fervent MAGA followers know he's lying. How? Because as Megan Trainor sings, "his lips are moving".

What was once the reflecting pool is now full of peeling paint and toxic algaie.
I'm OK with Trump naming it the Trump Dump and putting up keep away signs.

”Finally — and I cannot stress this element enough — this whole sorry episode is blessedly clownish. I don’t mean clownish like that bloody spectacle of a cage match birthday party Mr. Trump threw himself on the White House lawn this month. I count that among the legion of things this president celebrates that appall his critics but appeal to key chunks of his base.

Mr. Trump’s reflecting pool face plant, by contrast, is more Three-Stooges-meet-Bozo-the-Clown-ish. Getting bested by an algae bloom then throwing a finger-pointing tantrum about it doesn’t make Mr. Trump seem scary or threatening so much as petulant and inept. People are laughing at him, and that laughter undermines his image as a take-charge master of the universe.”

The belief (illusion) that trump is a proper leader of people, always transparent to those with clear vision, will hopefully crumble and and be swept away in November by a crushing republican defeat at the polls everywhere.

A democratic republic is defined by the leaders it elects to lead. This nation is now a laughingstock in the eyes of most of the world.

The photos aren't evidence? Who knew?

”The National Park Service refused to corroborate President Donald Trump's claim of a 350-foot Reflecting Pool "gash" in a sworn court declaration filed this week.

Meanwhile, Trump's description of the alleged damage has kept shifting. First 250-feet, then 300-feet, now a 350-feet "gash."
