Judge declares mistrial in Lindsay Clancy’s murder case after jury deadlocks.
The judge in the trial of Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury woman charged with murder in the killings of her three young children in 2023, declared a mistrial after jurors said they remained deadlocked after days of deliberations and an emergency appeal to the state’s highest court.
he declaration came after a last-minute effort by defense attorney Kevin Reddington to have a justice on the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court delay the mistrial ruling, so that Reddington could continue to seek the removal of a lone juror who appeared to be blocking a verdict. The judge gave Reddington one hour to file the request, which was denied.
The mistrial marked an end to a trial that has captivated the country for weeks. The jury deliberated for seven days and nearly 40 hours on the case, approaching Judge William Sullivan multiple times to report they were unable to reach a unanimous verdict.
