First, from former Special Counsel, Jack Smith, dragged back in front of a wholly supine Senate committee once again to explain how he dared investigate obvious, outrageous criminality by the most unequivocally corrupt president in American history, Smith had none of it.
The high farce of the hearing was when Republicans Eric Schmitt of Missouri and John Kennedy of Louisiana (every reporter’s cornpone savant) tried to land a grand, “gotcha” moment that backfired spectacularly. It’s already playing in heavy rotation on news outlets intermittently banned from the White House.
The assertion by the two Senators, one of whom repeatedly called Smith “a dirtbag” — and considering who they regularly caucus with, Schmitt and Kennedy know a thing or two about dirtbags — was that Smith, then investigating Trump for — well, what do you want to start with? — met up with Atlanta DA Fani Willis while in Georgia for an Atlanta Hawks NBA game.
Their only problem? The team Smith went to see was the Iowa Hawk … eyes. A college team. And in a totally different place. In Maryland. Not Atlanta. Which is 650 miles south. And as a kicker, it was a women’s game … featuring Caitlin Clark specifically … not 10 great big (and scary) black men.
Like almost everything about the Republican party today, it was a farce. Or “La farsa delle farse” as the Italians would say. Maybe not a full on sick farce like so much else in the MAGA hollers, but as down home stupid as it gets outside Loooosiana and the ‘Zarks.

Senator Eric Schmitt accused Jack of traveling to Atlanta in 2024 to collude with Fani Willis, and his "proof" that he held up for about three seconds showed text messages that he was in Atlanta at a Hawks game. It turns out, he was in Maryland watching Caitlin Clark play. She was on the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Schmitt, who may actually be dumber than Tommy Tuberville, got the teams wrong! This is always how it plays out.
This isn't Twitter, it's court.
This is where evidence comes out. Notice that the GOP has targeted all of Trump's enemies and none of them have been prosecuted. All they have is accusations. They know these people aren't guilty and they go through all this for political theater.
That's why Biden, Obama, the SLPC, Dr Fauci, Willis, Hillary, Leticia James, and Jack Smith are all still walking free.

So how much time and money are we going to spend on something that happened six years ago. Why don't we demand our elected elite do their job serving the people instead of serving the ego's.
I believe some of the behind the scenes speculations are pertinent to our interests here, specifically that Sean Hannity and Benny Johnson, both water carriers for the MAGA theocratic regime, possibly tipped off by Schmidt's team posted on the socials about how they "got" Jack Smith per the MAGA influencer instruction manual only to later delete their posts. LOL
Schmidt had it all worked out except for remembering to measure three times before you cut. That face of Sen Katie Britt's face as she watched their grand plan fail spectacularly will be the meme to define this here/now. As Rep Raskin said so eloquently "As ever with MAGA, we are saved from their absolute malice and evil by their complete incompetence."
Forgot to add Rep Raskin circled around in their interview on CNN to the point of the hearing, that Jack Smith was investigating Trump for crimes against the USA and he found enough evidence that he states he knows Trump is guilty, his team knows Trump is guilty and nothing is going to stop him from continuing to push forward with the case he was charged to investigate.
I knew Jack Smith was a man of honor. His presence and testimony at this hearing just elevated my opinion of the man if that is even possible.

Skud... Donald J Trump is a convicted felon, accused of multople other crimes, of which Smith claims there's evidence. Don't you think getting to the bottom of presidential criminality is important work for Congress in their Constitutionally prescribed role of oversight?
I will note your different take now though regarding Congress and people having more important things to do. Now if you'd just apply it to the swell guy and sleepy joe, life would be grand.

In fact, both Hannity and noted MAGA promoter Jack Prosobiec, had tweets savaging Smith up as soon as Sen Schmitt went public. Only to delete them after the Senator was shown to be a clown.
Well, let's see skud. We could, and should, immediately vote out ever MAGA republican in congress for a start. Anyone refusing to acknowledge trump's incessant lying and criminal behavior and actions should not get a single vote.
Then overturn Citizens United. Followed by reimplementation of Roe-v-Wade, giving women all over America the right to a safe medical abortion again. Then banning ALL lobbying across the entire scope of government, federal, state, and local. Followed by implementation of single payer universal healthcare. Moving on, legislate term limits for congress critters, the Senate, AND the SCOTUS. Turning to the budget. Cap the annual war making budget (military hardware) at 200 billion per annum. maximum.
Now for taxes. Return to the tax rates during the Clinton administration with an additional wealth tax on multi millionaires, billionaires, and trillionaires. Thus making sure plenty of MONEY IS AVAILABLE TO ACTUALLY ADDRESS THE REAL PROBLEMS OF REAL AMERICANS.
Moving on to alliances. Reestablish the policy of cooperation and diplomacy with the stated goal of creating unity through mutual cooperation that benefits ALL of humankind, not just the capital and political classes.
Reestablish the relationships the malignant narcissist and moron trump has successfully destroyed in less than two years.
Completely scrap the fascist Project 2025.

skud, I, and pretty much everyone who reads my blog, know that if it had been a Democratic POTUS who incited a mob to attack the Capitol and stop the electoral certification of an election of a president, YOU would not rest until the Democratic president and his accomplices were investigated and brought to justice. Of this I am damn sure.
Why? Because since Barack Obama was POTUS you have NEVER stopped talking about his mistake in saying "you can keep your doctor if you want to" with the ACA. The fact is, THAT WAS A MISTAKE that Obama owned up to, and NOT a deliberate lie. He admitted that the information he gave was inaccurate.
That you can so easily decide that this attack on our country, our democratic norms, and our Constitution should be put to rest because it happened six years ago demonstrates to anyone reading your comment that, IMO, your allegiances are to a political party/parties (Republican, Libertarian, etc.) and NOT the rule of law nor our Constitution.
Schmitt's performance once again shows how incompetence and stupidity will always be the result when politicians give their allegiance to a corrupt president and not the Constitution. Schmitt was performing for an audience of one (maybe two -- JD Vance), not for justice or the truth. He deserves every bit of ridicule piling on top of him.
That was the MOST important thing to come out of this hearing: That Jack Smith found evidence to prove Trump was guilty of crimes against the Constitution.
They probably were all in on Schmitt's allegations and salivating over "getting" Jack Smith. It gloriously blew up in their incompetent faces.
