POOR, POOR SIR BOBBY JINDAL

"$140 million for something called "volcano monitoring." Instead of monitoring volcanoes, what Congress should be monitoring is the eruption of spending in Washington, DC. "- Bobby Jindal

What was he thinking? Throw something out there that sounds weird and hope the American people agree with you that it's stupid? Despite the fact that volcanic eruptions are real and kill real people? Does he believe hurricane monitoring is a waste of taxpayer money too? Are the Republicans and their "stars" really this out of touch with reality?

Alaskans Erupt Over Jindal Volcano Jab

Alaskans of all stripes are incensed by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s disparaging comments Tuesday about the necessity of volcano monitoring, the Anchorage Daily News reports. It’s “a matter of life and death in Alaska,” Sen. Mark Begich wrote the Republican. Even Gov. Sarah Palin’s office weighed in. “Of course Alaskans want to know if a volcano is going to blow,” a rep said.

Not only is Alaska the locus for much of the volcano activity in the US, but an eruption threatening Anchorage could disrupt international trade. “Any interruptions,” Begich wrote, could be felt even in “Baton Rouge.” Experts also wondered why Jindal singled out monitoring, which will get $14 million in federal dollars, not the $140 million he quoted. “It saves lives to be able to warn people,” one said.

Republicans are against the stimulus bill, but that doesn't mean they won't take the money. Bobby Jindal is a particularly excellent example.

Did he ever acknowledge the money being spent to save New Orleans? Was that wasteful government spending? Did any of those funds create a job or two?

Oh, thats right only rich republicans create jobs and only republican administration can spend money wisely.

What a joke!

As a true Republican and demagogue he has split town, disappeared, and refuses to answer any questions.

The best thing that can happen to the Democrats is a Palin/Jindal Presidential ticket in 2012.

Yes, but since God is the one who makes volcanoes erupt, the only real answer is to pray to him to refrain. And, it's cheaper, so you can have more tax cuts.

BTW, I'm stealing the link for AmNi. That's what nihilists do.

Very cool blog here.

If I come back and say, "thanks," then I can pimp our blog.

I'm aware of all internet traditions.

Thanks!

Dear Deranged LB,

I've got you blogrolled. And AmNi as well.

Donny: Are these the Nazis, Walter?
Walter Sobchak: No, Donny, these men are nihilists, there's nothing to be afraid of.

Shaw, you know I am no defender of the GOP but there is another way of looking at this that the left has missed.

Is this spending really economic stimulus, or "normal" govy. spending?

By normal I mean spending that should be better allocated as part of the regular budget process?

If Obama believes that volcano research is needed and valuable, and that it should be an ongoing expense, why is it in a theoretically one time stimulus spending bill?

It is a reasonable question.

Thank you for visiting, IMC! LOL! Do you do always post idiocy like that or did you make a special effort for me today? LOL!

PS. It's my choice to laugh at your silly, cowardly attempt at commenting.

LOL!

Dave,

It might be because there's a special need for it in some areas where volcanic activity has increased? I don't know the answer.

Shaw, it can be, and probably is needed. The central question is whether it should be in a stimulus bill, or part of the regular budgeting process.

I think this type of what will be recurring spending, should be considered as part of the regular process, where its merit can be considered for regular appropriations.
