HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A BIGOT SCORNED!

I think it all started with this harmless suggestion by the President of the United States:

President Obama DARED to tell politicians to do their jobs and not to take their marching orders from a rightwing, bigoted radio talk show comedian. Wow! What incendiary talk from a man who promised to tone down the rhetoric in Washington DC!

And what was the Hindenburg of Gasbag's response? "I HOPE OBAMA FAILS." Notice he didn't say I hope Obama's POLICIES fail. Nope. He didn't say that at all. He wants President Obama to fail. Got that America?

And now the GOP wails that the Democrats are trying to elevate Limbaugh as the Go-to Guy of the GOP? The bastids! How dare they say that about a man who holds no political office, but who has spineless GOP politicians scrapping and bowing at his feet begging for absolution whenever they say anything that may injure Boss Limbaugh's delicate, oversized sensibilities.

**********************

One of my fav writers, James Wolcott of Vanity Fair posts this little gem over at his blog:

"During its Rovian/Fox News heyday, the right tried to make Michael Moore's mug the face of the Democratic Party, hold Democrats responsible for every egregious thing Moore said or did. It only partially succeeded because Moore was too independent an operator to be seamlessly morphed with Al Gore and John Kerry. But Limbaugh bleeds Republican red. He has been glorified and embraced as the perfect Ganesh by Newt Gingrich, CPAC, and the Bush family. He is the face and mouth of the conservative movement. A mouth that has swallowed Michael Steele whole, and has room for plenty more."

Al Giordano posting on Limbaugh adds:

"This narrative is going to go on for a while, in large part because in public life you get back what you put in: Limbaugh has, for decades, sought to stigmatize and demonize those with less power than he: single moms, "ugly women" (what Limbaugh says "feminism" is for), African-American political leaders, gays, undocumented immigrants... add up who he has picked on from his microphone demographically and you've got a majority of the American people.

And for years while Limbaugh had the tacit and also overt support from the Republican political machine (right down to Dick Cheney and Karl Rove being in constant back-channel contact with him) the Democrats tried to ignore and wish him away. Even worse, as we saw with Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" during last year's Democratic presidential primaries (in which he got millions of his Republican-leaning minions to vote in the Democratic primaries to prolong Senator Clinton's candidacy), you had elements of the Democratic Party playing footsie with him (remember Bill Clinton, in 2008, going on his show one day when a co-host was substituting?). "
*************************

But wait, it's not just us America-hating, commie-loving, socialist, godless Libruls who think Limbaugh is a disaster, Republicans with brains chime in:

"With his private plane and his cigars, his history of drug dependency and his personal bulk, not to mention his tangled marital history, Rush is a walking stereotype of self-indulgence - exactly the image that Barack Obama most wants to affix to our philosophy and our party. And we’re cooperating! Those images of crowds of CPACers cheering Rush’s every rancorous word - we’ll be seeing them rebroadcast for a long time."
******************

And even friendly conservative bloggers are whining "NO FAIR," claiming President Obama is sliming Limbaugh by suggesting he's the head of the GOP! Ooooh that must cut to the bone!

"The Obama slime machine, led by the Slimer-in-Chief President Obama, have been running a coordinated campaign from the Oval Office to demonize conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh. The purpose of the campaign was to distract the press and the American people from the exploding deficit spending and administration power grab currently unfolding. The campaign to hide the economic chaos and stock market meltdown has been funded in part by billionaire currency manipulator George Soros."
[skip]
"The attacks, coordinated with key progressive websites like MediaMatters and ThinkProgress, have spread across the partisan left side of the internet. Liberal bloggers repeated the attacks verbatim and cribbed out-of-context quotations for prominent placement on their sites. [I do believe Gordon is referring to moi.] The program has ominous implications of an attempt to control the media, as many liberal websites are funded by shadowy currency speculator Soros. [Yes. Just yesterday I got my check in the mail from Georgie, and in addition to posting my "out-of-context" quotations on Rush's bigotry, I get to call in pizza from Regina's tonight! Woo Hoo!]"

Meanwhile, the country continues to support its very popular president.

"“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” Obama told top GOP leaders, according to the Post."

It was a blunder, really. The President would have done better not to toss Limbaugh this bone to chew on.

Shaw Kenawe said...

You call it a blunder; I call it leadership.

Someone had to tell grown men and women NOT to listen to a jerk's bloviating and to make up their own minds.

As for the bone? Obama is smarter than you give him credit for.

The bone he tossed Limbaugh has been the gift that keeps on giving.

Is that last part from Gordon? I think its safe to say, he's gone completely mad.

Yes, Lynne, the last paragraphs starting with "And even friendly conservative bloggers..." are from Gordon's blog.

And I worry about him, too.

Can't speak for Gordon...but he has been hanging around that smoker a lot, and the fumes...
..then again, our friends on the far right continue to unravel .

When you have two political rivals like this, and the station of one is way above the station of another, the higher one even mentioning the lower one only benefits the lower one.

BB: There's nothing far-right about Gordon. Don't confuse strength of convictions with extremeness of convictions. He's no more far, right than you are far-left.

This is directly from Right is Right's blog. And just note: She called ME nuts. You could use her exact words in a comment only change where she used Obama to Rush or Bush and she'd call you a whole series of names. Interesting.

"Rush isn't your problem obama, you are your own problem

The real problem is Conservatives have set back and let loud mouth liars such as cluckie schummmmmer, and obama define all other parties, all the while raping the American Tax payer while running their little hoard with the purple kool -aid. I t don't matter much to me anymore but it does to my children and great grand children.

Over the years I've watch and liars and cheats ultimately pay the price for their crooked ways. Many time the media will look the other way and not report on and they are just as guilty as schummmmmer and obama. This has allowed the dirty little pigs to breed new pigs and wallow in the slop. It will continue until 2010 and then all hell will bust loose.

I don't know if there will be time to save America from all the Marxist polices that have been allowed the last 2 years under a Democrat controlled Senate and Congress. Conservative do have to stand for what they believe in and define the liars, crooks and theives for what they are.

The sky is not going to fall tomorrow. Climate change being man-made is a hoax and only keeps foney tenured professors in theire lofty postions promoting more ilth.

How in the L does a man that don't pay his freaking taxes and is obama treasury muck, know a dam thing about normal global warming and cooling. Greed folks Greed is obamas government.

I do not understand why obama Hates the Hard Working America middle class. Obama has had a free ride all his life with free college, etc Rezco but yet obama hate is emerging as the driving force. obama there are professional people that can help you through your troubles. obama you have been like a bully in the playground with your actions or people actions you have directed such as Rambo the vulgar and Baghdad bob. Obama you was a major creator of the deficit you didn't inherit jack.

Rush isn't your problem obama, you are your own problem We have no respect for you, just the office of the President and we will have to clean out the crapola after you are gone.

We can hope Pray for obama and make plans to reform all the elcrapo obama and the Democrat have been allowed to heap on our children and grand children.

GOD BLESS AMERICA"

Right is Right

If that ain't a whole bucket of crazy, I don't know what is.

As a fellow Illinoisan and Democratic party activist for 30 years, I can attest that Obama and Rahm know what they're doing regarding Rush. It ain't enough here to just win an election. You gotta make your opponent wish he'd never run. Never become a Republican (Or Democrat. Dems don't hold the monopoly on prickness here) and in some cases never been born. The beatdown of Rush is just beginning.

Anonymous,

Right is Right must not care how illiterate she looks on her blog.

We all make typos and and grammatical blunders, mostly from being in a hurry and careless. But I do try to look, at the very least, like I know how to communicate in my own language.

That rant is beyond analphabetic it's a monument to the type of people that populate the fringe of the Republican Party.

Shaw Kenawe said...

TRUTH 101,

Yeah, I get it. There's a good reason for the WH to want Rush and his brand of conservatism to be the face of the Republican Party.

A majority of Americans reject it and want nothing to do with it.

Very, very smart of them.

You can't make this 'Conservative' s**t up. Reality has so far exceeded fantasy in the GOP world it's a little startling. Some folks have way too much time on their hands. Kind of surprising given the real problems we face. Actually not surprising at all. This is how conservative Republicans all too often behave. Meaningless, irrelevant claptrap.

At which Cornyn is a master.

Senator John Cornyn writes:

Dear Friend:

During his campaign last year, President Obama promised to bring a new tone to Washington. He decried partisan politics and in a speech last September said, “We have real problems in this country right now and the American people are looking to us for answers, not distractions, no diversions, not manipulations.”

Yet, just weeks into his Administration the President’s staff has been caught engaging in a coordinated and cynical political attack game – the very diversion and manipulation then-candidate Obama attacked the McCain campaign for last year.

The apparent goal of this strategy was to distract public attention from the Democrats’ massive spending proposals by depicting Rush Limbaugh as the new face of the Republican Party.

Democrats needed the distraction -- over the course of only seven weeks of the current Congressional session, Senate Democrats have passed more spending than the previous Administration spent on Iraq, Afghanistan, and Katrina recovery combined.

According to Politico newspaper yesterday, this coordinated strategy began with “conversations and email exchanges” taking place “in and out of the White House” between former Clinton political operative James Carville, the political team at the Democrat National Committee, and White House staff. The article goes on to note that “a senior White House aide has been tasked with helping to guide the Limbaugh strategy.”

This is an outrage. It appears the Obama Administration has forgotten that the salaries of White House staff are paid for by you the taxpayer. To say nothing of the fact that this story reeks of hypocrisy coming from a President who campaigned against these very cynical political tactics last fall.

President Obama owes the American people an explanation.

His staff should apologize to the American people for supporting these tactics and diverting attention to the hard work that needs to be done to get America’s economy back on track.

Please join me in signing this petition and calling on the Obama White House to come clean on this matter. Join me in asking them to work with Republicans on the critical issues facing our country today. The American people deserve better than diversions and manipulations.

Sincerely,

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn

National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman

He's a major asshole.

Wasn't he the one who said that if we allow same-sex marriage people would want marry their box turtles?

And BTW, where's the smear in labeling Rush Limbaugh as the face of the GOP? Are they upset with that?

I thought they loved his prodigious ass.

The White House under Bush took part in outing a covert CIA agent; Obama's people are labeling Rush as the head of the GOP.

Compare and contrast.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Found it:

"It does not affect your daily life very much if your neighbor marries a box turtle. But that does not mean it is right. . . . Now you must raise your children up in a world where that union of man and box turtle is on the same legal footing as man and wife."

-- Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.), advocating a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in a speech Thursday to the Heritage Foundation.

That is a very special kind of stupid.

All this concern over me? Dang, I'm touched. Or tetched. That's a good southern word for crazy, and I'm sure some of you would choose that over the former.

By the way, I didn't cry, "No Fair!" That's Shaw's characterization of my post. I'm not concerned with fair. My point is, and continues to be, that President ChangethetoneinWashington got elected promising to make everything kind and good and happyish, and to put an end to all of the dirty politics. Instead he's got a good old fashioned attack machine running out of 1600 PA.

Ain't no change happening there.

dmarks said...

Gordon: As for attack politics, I read somewhere that Obama has appointed a "Rush Limbaugh Czar", someone on the federal payroll whose job it is to counteract Rush Limbaugh. I do not know if it is true. But if it is, how ridiculous.

After all, what is the worst ongoing proboem? The banking crisis, or Rush Limbaugh saying bad things about the President? If there is a Limbuagh Czar, they should fire him and instead use the money for an expert to work on the banking problem.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dear, dear Gordon,

I the administration had NOT responded to Limbaugh's toxic "I HOPE HE FAILS!" rhetoric, Rush's army would be screaming that the President is a wimp.

The change I hope Obama will bring is making Limbaugh irrelevant.
