NANCY REAGAN PRAISES PRESIDENT OBAMA ON HIS STEM CELL REVERSAL

It's not the late President Reagan speaking, but almost. I can't think of two people closer and more loving than the Reagans (oh wait...I can, and one of them wears sleeveless dresses that show off her boffo arms!). But I can't imagine that Mrs. Reagan and her husband would not agree on something like this, since they were so close and in sync with each other. I wonder how long it will be before the long knives come out for her.

Under fire from congressional Republicans for lifting restrictions on stem cell research, President Barack Obama got a powerful endorsement for his move Monday from Nancy Reagan, the former president’s wife.

“I’m very grateful that President Obama has lifted the restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research,” she wrote in a statement released shortly after Obama reversed the Bush administration limits. “These new rules will now make it possible for scientists to move forward. I urge researchers to make use of the opportunities that are available to them and to do all they can to fulfill the promise that stem cell research offers."

Nancy Reagan has been an outspoken advocate of stem cell research — and scientists hope that the research could someday lead to a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, which afflicted her late husband, Ronald Reagan.

Her statement also illustrates how support for the research crosses party lines, even though many in the anti-abortion movement strongly oppose the research on moral and ethical grounds.
Reagan continued, “Countless people, suffering from many different diseases, stand to benefit from the answers stem cell research can provide. We owe it to ourselves and to our children to do everything in our power to find cures for these diseases — and soon. As I’ve said before, time is short, and life is precious.”

One giant step for science! I'm sure the whack-a-loons are trying to find a way to simultaneously criticize this latest move of Obama's and yet continue their love affair with the Reagans. This should be interesting.

My beloved step-father, father of my heart, passed away last year from ALS. I pray that future sufferers will be saved because of this long awaited step.

Eight years of delay in developing ways to combat debilitating illness, there's a major accomplishment for the past maladministration. Fits right in with the ideological economical policies.

The long knives have already been unsheathed. Ann Coulter has been trashing her on this one. Heartless bitch.

Ann Coulter has trashed Nancy Reagan?

ZOMG!

Nancy Reagan? What has Coulter said? That Mrs. Reagan is enjoying her widowhood?

I pity any man that is so desperate he wouldn't throw Ann Coulter out of bed.

This is the latest installment of insanity from Right is Right's blog. The first line is probably the biggest lie I've ever heard and it's all downhill from there.

Don't Think About It, Just Do As I Say... Obama

Lets see, Joe the Plumber was on his front lawn tossing a ball with his kid when Obama walked up. Joe had the nerve to ask a question that caused Obama to let slip with his true goal. As a result, the private man had his life thrown into the national spotlight by democrat operatives, some of whom eventually had to quit their jobs because of their unethical behavior. I’d say this private citizen was definitely targeted by Obama and his campaign.

As for Rush, he is a well know person, but he holds no elected office, seeks no elective office and happens to do his job well enough that he has rating that no one on Air America could ever hope to have. But though he is well known, he is still a private citizen.

It seems to me that Obama and his crew are looking very, very juvenile right now. The campaign is over, it is time to govern, but Obama continues in campaign mode. Let divert attention from the problems at hand the and Obama’s failure to address them properly by attacking a radio show host. Very sophisticated. If he spent as much time vetting his appointments he might have a cabinet in place sometime before 2010. And btw, he’s doing a great job of making the world love us: lets throw our allies, the Poles, the Checzhs and the Israelis under the bus. Kiss Russian ass, and get the finger in return. I’ve noticed how much the mullahs in Iran have unclenched that fist. This man is incompetent and it shows.

Right is Right seems not to care how inarticulate her writing is and how easy it is to dismiss her rantings because of it. Anyone who is that careless about how her written word looks, apparently doesn't think very carefully either.

She obviously never proofs her postings and doesn't do any fact checking.

Her writing and her thinking are flabby, sloppy, and not to be taken seriously.

She doesn't care about her work, why should we.

It's like a car accident on the highway, sometimes you just have to look. Ok. I'll stop.

Actually, being from Czech (not Checzhs) ancestry and havng friends and relatives there, I can tell her that positioning that piece of missle monitoring equipment in the Czech Republic was highly unpopular with its citizens and now that the whole plan has been scrapped, they hardly feel like they've been "thrown under the bus." And so will probably prove to be a greater ally than before.

Another Rush quote:

"He is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. ... This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."

I shamelessly admit, Gordon, that when it comes to writing, I am a snob.

I understand a typo here and there and a misplaced modifyer, I'll even excuse a misspelled word now and then, but I do not tolerate a dangling participle or a mixed metaphor.

Where did the missile monitoring (Chezh? Czech?) reference come from? And I can't imagine why anyone would not mind monotoring missiles.

dmarks - my comment is in reference to Lynne's comment above quoting from Right to Right's blog.
The whole radar thing was not popular among Czechs who felt they were being used a pawns and that the Bush administration was bullying the Czech gov't.

62 US Nobel Laureates in Science and Medicine endorsed Obama...not one, McCain. Political ideology & dogma got trumped by science. Good.

Rocky: Got it. I text-searched for the wrong mispelling of Czech and somehow bypassed it. Someone get her a good spellczech.

LOL! I'd take the job, but I'm too busy right now. Maybe she could find a Czech third grader!
