After registering her outrage over Mr. Obama's comment on his bowling and Special Olympics, we note what the Anchorage Daily News reported:
Palin rejects over 30% of stimulus money
JUNEAU -- Gov. Sarah Palin is refusing to accept over 30 percent of the federal economic stimulus money being offered to Alaska, including dollars for schools, energy assistance and social services.
The news Thursday drew anger from those who accused Palin of putting her national political aspirations ahead of the state's interests, and admiration from others who say she has courage to turn down money that would expand government. The state Legislature will have an opportunity to override her decision.
Palin is not taking about $288 million of the $930.7 million that Alaska is due in the federal stimulus. Palin said she is accepting the federal stimulus money that would go for construction projects, but not funding directed at government operations.
"We are not requesting funds intended to just grow government," Palin said. "In essence we say no to operating funds for more positions in government."
Palin first told the news media that she's turning down nearly half the federal stimulus money -- but later conceded that does not count the Medicaid money she is accepting. That brings down what she's refusing to 31 percent of what the state government could get. Local governments and nonprofits could still compete for stimulus grants.
The biggest single chunk of money that Palin is turning down is about $170 million for education, including money that would go for programs to help economically disadvantaged and special needs students. Anchorage School Superintendent Carol Comeau said she is "shocked and very disappointed" that Palin would reject the schools money. She said it could be used for job preservation, teacher training, and helping kids who need it."
Gov. Palin has to do what she thinks is best for her political career and her state. But after pouncing on President Obama over his unfortunate comment, it appears a bit hypocritical for her to withhold money that would actually help and improve the lives of the children she felt she needed to defend.
Mr. Obama's remarks won't affect Alaska's special needs children as much as Gov. Palin's withholding of funds for the special needs kids in her state.

WAS THAT STUPID REMARK REALLY NECESSARY?
However since YOU brought it up , I think that Sarah Palin's remark was right on the money...As we all know she has more class in her little finger than he has in his entire body!
RightIsRight: Palin vs Obama, no matter what comparison you are making, class, intelligence, curiosity, thoughtfulness; our President wins hands down.
Let's see if RiR thinks Governor Palin is classy enough for her/him? to send a donation to her defense fund.
Where Yellow is Mellow and White Gets It Right
The President's comment was completely unnecessary and unfortunate yet
Denying financial support to the precious and needy in Alaska to make political points is equally unnecessary and unfortunate.
Helping these Alaskans should be the priority for the government not making the President wear a hairshirt for a comment he's apologized for quickly.
Those are the facts, regardless of how much people love Palin.
She'd be bashed for accepting the money, too. I've seen elected Republicans bashed on these blogs for saying they would accept stimulus money, too.
Republicans should stick to their principles and refuse the money, after all they voted against the bill. Then see how they do during the next elections.
Nice.... they get bashed for refusing the money, or for taking it.
Nice! It seems conservatives have become full-time bashers ... bashing each other with as much abandon as they used to bash their opposition. Is bashing all that is left from an empty the quiver?
As we all know she has more class in her little finger than he has in his entire body!--RiR
Apparently her abundant class wasn't enough to get her and McCain elected. The candidate who outclassed them both won.
Perhaps Palin and fellow conservative governers are simply following the mantra of the right:
education is bad, academia is evil,
science is wrong...oh, you know...and she does have at least minimal class - she appointed a liberal to the AK court. :)
" the mantra of the right:
education is bad, academia is evil,
science is wrong" makes as much sense as "Democrats are really just Communists", really.
dmarks..absolutely. I learned both
'concepts' offered simultaneously on otherwise entertaining blogs..you know, 'they' indoctrinate our innocent children..the commies! :)
I wonder, then, who indoctrinates the guilty children?
Palin is a vicious and fanatical religious extremist with absolutely no personal or public integrity whatsoever. She doesn't even care about her own special needs child, much less any other special needs child.
For her, her family are merely props. She is a sinister hypocrite, like all GOP politicians.
"I wonder, then, who indoctrinates the guilty children? Who, but Rush L.? :)
They love the fetus but hate the child.
