PATRIOTS' DAY, APRIL 19, 2010, BOSTON, MASS.
Reenactment of Paul Revere's ride.
Marching bands
Boston Mayor, Thomas Menino
Off he goes to Arlington.
Paul Revere Mall, North End, Boston, Mass.
Now I'm off to the finish line of the Boston Marathon and to cheer my niece as she runs her firsst marathon.
I hope the rider didn't push that poor horse too far on that asphalt.
And last, but certainly not least, I hope Katie finished. I can't imagine even placing in that thing - just a slow crawl across the finish line is most admirable.

Great pictures Shaw! I have a niece living with her friends in Boston. They LOVE it there even though it's so expensive! Good luck to your Katie!
Oh, but Sue. The Food - to die for.

Fond memories of my two days in Boston come back.
Kate finished! She's been training for less than a year! Her first marathon and she finished it in 4 1/2 hours!
She did it to raise funds for Dana Farber Cancer research after a beloved aunt died last year.
Kate is a special person!
We're all so proud of her.
I was a runner for many years but never managed to do more than a half marathon. The kness couldn't take the punishment.
I stayed with running 10Ks around Boston and vicinity and loved it.
I know what it was like to do a 1/2 marathon. I can't imagine doing a whole one.
