STEPHEN COLBERT IS A COMIC GENIUS

The best Congressional testimony I've ever heard.

“Humor is the only test of gravity, and gravity of humor; for a subject which will not bear raillery is suspicious, and a jest which will not bear serious examination is false wit.”--Aristotle

PS. In the past, Republicans invited Clint Eastwood, Hotlips Hoolihan, and Elmo to testify.

Is the GOP really this clueless?

Was watching the talking heads spinning Colbert's testimony every which way.
But I didn't hear anyone
address the power of satire, nor the precedent
of Voltaire...

This performance marks Colbert as the new Petronius, flipping the bird at all the pompous Emperors and their toadies in a new Satyricon.

Classic.

Sir, I salute you.

I have only three words for that pompous ass, Chuck Todd:

"Lighten Up Francis."

I just saw a clip of Colberts speech on Keiths show. Not all of it was comedic but the Fox hosts who screamed "outrageous!" all day won't show you the clip where he talks seriously about the plight of the migrant workers. We allow them in and then kick them out when their work is done. They suffer and have no voice. Stephen Colbert wants to be their voice.

He was dead on about the number of farmers who have moved their operations to Mexico because they couldn't get "cheap labor."

Republicans have a monumental capacity for tuning out that which they don't want to hear.

They would ban the History Channel for having shows about the world as it exsisted 300 million years ago cause they know in their hearts that the world is only 6,500 years old.

They don't want to hear about abortion cause they know in their hearts if a pregnancy would result in the death of the mother or fetus, one ot both of them must have done something to offend God. Shit doesn't "just happen" in their view.

Their heroes are liars. Their lies are what makes them heroes.

Voltaire likely would have been amused. Swift too for that matter. Groucho Marx definitely.

And for what it's worth those occasions when the House or the Senate act as an 'august body' are few and far between.

And any 'mockery' heaped on the congress is just about the only example of bipartisanship I can discern.
