UNEMPLOYMENT DIPS AGAIN; DECEMBER'S NUMBERS NOT A FLUKE

This report will make the anti-Obama people really, really angry, especially when they try to pin "failure" on the administration:

"The economy flexed its growing strength with the addition of an incredible 243,000 jobs in January, cutting the unemployment rate from to 8.3 from 8.5 percent and putting some wind in President Barack Obama’s sails as he heads into reelection.

Manufacturing, mining, restaurants and even construction contributed to an uptick that caught many analysts off guard. Wall Street economists had projected the Bureau of Labor Statistics would report Friday the addition of 145,000-150,000 jobs and a flat unemployment rate.

Instead, the economy picked up speed and unemployment slid down to its lowest point in nearly three years, a potential sign that the 200,000 jobs added in December could not be dismissed as a holiday fluke.

How convenient he cares about jobs now that it's election season,if he wins in Nov he'll put his Che Guevara hat back on and pick up where he left off .

Spoken like someone who is absolutely enraged that the economy is going in the right direction.

When you speak of Obama as a hero for these numbers, your expectations must be very low for America. The economy is still in the dump. This year we will see the most foreclosures yet. But hey, keep claiming Obama is a political God. Enjoy living in your delusion.

there are 1 million people of the job market this month. But keep drinking that koolaid. I guess businesses can't wait for all the new mandates and penalties thy will be incurring.
Sounds like a recipe for success.

Take note of the CBO projections. Not so rosy.

I'll give it this, the mess was a long time coming. The seeds of the meltdown were sown even before GWB, although I suppose that is arguable.

GWB, certainly was the useful idiot that expanded the debt, engaged the U.S. in Iraq which actually had a destabilizing effect in the balance of power in the Middle East (not Iran's ascendancy), and gave us Medicare part D, rammed the greatest expansion of government since FDR... just to name few.

Oh, off the subject but he gave as the Patriot Act, which while perhaps sensible immediately following 911 (thaT is very debatable) it is still here with all it's government intrusions and increased power over the law abiding citizen.

Then along game Obama. A bad situation remains a bad situation.

And the wheels keep turning. The cliff keeps getting closer.

Oh, I almost forgot, I'm still wondering about NAFTA.

Get Real,

I don't speak of Obama as a hero, that's your take and it shows a bit of the green in it.

I don't expect you or Lisa to give Obama any credit for the improving unemployment.

But whether you like it or not, if the American people presidents when the unemployment numbers go up, they WILL credit the president when the unemployment numbers go down.

If the numbers had been bad, you'd be calling for his impreachment; and now that the numbers are good, you're complaining.

Therefore, you deserve no consideration for anything you have to say.

RN, sorry. The situation is not worse, it is much improved. No one here says it couldn't be better. It could. But this president has been obstructed in everything he has attempted to do since he took his oath of office.

I place the blame for the sluggish growth squarely at the feet of the obstructionist GOP.

The rest of the story... 1.2 million drop off the labor force... Oops?

We can thank GWB and the GOP for the mess and appreciate what POB has done to fix it.

In a statement today, Speaker John "The Grim Weeper" said the jobs report was “welcome news” but added, “We need to do better.”

That's true, but is it a big enough indictment to kick out a first-term President, something Americans have historically been very reluctant to do? Doubtful. On Intrade the probability of President Obama winning re-election jumped by more than 2% this morning - it now stands at approximately 57%

When the unemployment rate falls, the improvement in the labor market presents a particular dilemma to Romney, who has based his entire campaign on the belief that he is the only one to get America back to work. Only yesterday, when Donald Trump endorsed him, Romney said, “I want to do everything in my power to get this economy going again.”

I guess Mitt hasn't been reading the recent jobs reports. The economy is improving without Mitt.

In our slavish devotion to democratic party ideology we are blinded from any reasonable alternative. Partisanship first class.

The January gains are all the more remarkable for the fact that January is a month when job stats are typically anemic. Many holiday season hires are let go, and many businesses that depend on anything resembling nice weather are laying as low as they can until spring.

I have an idea, lets all give the CBO the benefit of the doubt and check in again in November 2012 - January 2013 and discuss the numbers at that time.

Until then I'll give the President a hand clap and a small basket of kudos.
