Stupid Stuff from 2013: FOX NEWS Edition

Too many to include in one post, but according to Salon, these are the top five.

STUPID:

Bill O’Reilly says Asians aren’t liberals because they’re “industrious and hard-working.”

STUPIDER:

Megyn Kelly insists Santa Claus is white.

STUPIDEST:

Ben Carson compares LBGTQ people to NAMBLA, bestiality supporters.

.

Can FAUX NOOZ get any dumber?

Yes.  This is a special kind of dumb:

Geraldo Rivera says jurors would have shot Trayvon Martin sooner than Zimmerman did.

 And  THIS.

"Can FOX News get any dumber."

Yep...

They could become more like MSNBC!!!

There's no question that MSNBC is left leaning, but really, Les, they don't make the sorts of idiotic pronouncements and mistakes that FAUX NOOZ does. I don't watch MSNBC or any cable news very often, mostly CNN or PBS. Just remember, FAUX NOOZ employed the likes of Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin and Murdoch, the owner, has been involved in scandals---spying and cheating.

Yes, MSNBC has Al Sharpton and Ed Schultz, both strident populists, but they don't come near Beck or Palin when it comes to clownish stupidity.

Also in a couple of polls taken a year or so ago, FAUX NOOZ viewers were found to be the least informed.

MSNBC came in second. Dubious achievements for both cable news outlets.

Ben Carson and Phil Robertson on gays: Two self-identified "Christians" who don't hesitate to expose themselves for the bigots and gay bashers that they are.

Pahtooie on both of them, their days of gay-hating are over, theirs is a last gasp of nasty. Gay marriage will soon be accepted by every state. And people will see them for the creepy haters thay are.

Ducky's here said...

Whatever happened to Ben Carson?

I was hoping he'd enter the 2016 primaries to give them that extra soupcon of batshite craziness but he seems to have dropped out of sight after being the darling for a short time.

Here's what Ben Carson said about the A.C.A.:

“Obamacare is the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery because it is making us subservient to the government.”

That's monumental stupidity. The A.C.A. is an insurance company's dream. It brings more customers to them.

Carson likens health insurance mandated by the government to selling and owning human beings? To torturing and killing human beings? To taking children away from their parents? To forbidding the slaves to marry or learn to read and write? To endless years of hellish servitude? To living in conditions unfit for animals?

Carson is either unaware of what slavery did to African-Americans, or he's a cynical asshat, looking to gain favor with the folks who have turned their bigotry on gay men and women.

He will NEVER be more than a darling of the same folks who think Phil Robertson is a "good Christian."

Here is more nonsense that outlets like FAUX NOOZ and people like Palin, Carson, Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly and other assorted nincompoops peddle to their followers:

From "The Age of Ignorance," by Charles Simic

"In the past, if someone knew nothing and talked nonsense, no one paid any attention to him. No more. Now such people are courted and flattered by conservative politicians and ideologues as “Real Americans” defending their country against big government and educated liberal elites. The press interviews them and reports their opinions seriously without pointing out the imbecility of what they believe. The hucksters, who manipulate them for the powerful financial interests, know that they can be made to believe anything, because, to the ignorant and the bigoted, lies always sound better than truth:

Christians are persecuted in this country.

The government is coming to get your guns.

Obama is a Muslim.

Global Warming is a hoax.

The president is forcing open homosexuality on the military.

Schools push a left-wing agenda.

Social Security is an entitlement, no different from welfare.

Obama hates white people.

The life on earth is 10,000 years old and so is the universe.

The safety net contributes to poverty.

The government is taking money from you and giving it to sex-crazed college women to pay for their birth control."

Those are just a few of the nonsensical claptrap that gets repeated and sent around in blast email and that are swallowed whole by the low-information people on the right. There's more, much more where that comes from, and FAUX NOOZ is one of the leading entities that is happy to spread the ignorance around.

Yeah, I know, there are all colors and shades of lipstick.

FOX News is needed to counter the BS coming out of MSNBC. Call it the game of counter cancellation.

I do watch some FOX News, Shepard Smith, Harris Faulkner,Brett Bair... the clowns like Palin, Hannity, O'Reilly, etc. I avoid unless I just want a good laugh.

Carson is far from "stupid." His point that the ACA is not good for America many share. Me included.

Must be I'm stupid.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Comparing the A.C.A. to the horrors of slavery that destroyed families, tortured and killed people, and forced the majority of them to live in conditions worse than animals IS stupid.

If Carson wanted to make a point in criticizing the A.C.A., he should have used his brain to come up with a more intelligent comparison. He lost credibility as a rational commentator on this political issue when he resorted to inflammatory rhetoric to make a point.

Not very bright, IMO.

Les Carpenter said...

I do believe Carson was speaking in terms of economic slavery, not literal physical slavery. The ACA, more accutately stated for the majority UACA or Unaffordable Care Act, is a real reason for concern.

Shaw Kenawe said...

A brilliant physician doesn't necessarily make a brilliant politician. Carson has made some very radical statements that will not serve him well should he run for national office. He's said some whacky, fringy things that a prudent pol wouldn't say if he were thinking of running for the presidency.

He appeals to the extremists on the right. There aren't enough of them to put someone like Carson in the White House.

Shaw Kenawe said...

BTW, Les. Please read more carefully. I didn't say Carson was stupid. His comparison of the ACA with slavery IS STUPID.

O'Reilly got it partly right"
Asian-Americans are the highest
income, best educated, fastest
growing minority group in the US.
They place great emphasis on education, hard work, parenthood and marriage. .....and 76% of them voted for Obama. Once again, O'Reilly is pissing into the wind.

Other than the part about SS being an entitlement the rest is spot on. Since you are left leaning I found it odd you agree with this truthful observation.

Anonymous agrees with the paranoia that describes the extremists on the right. Proving once again that they live in a very special place called Crazy Land.

I read the statement carefully, I simply took the liberty to extrapolate from youc omment something for effect.

Carson, in my opinion isn't going to run for president. I think he is too smart for that.

I admire that Carson is not a big government type of guy and isn't afraid to say so.

I will acknowledge he should have said specifically economic slavery.

They are very industrious, hard working, and intellegent.

Funny Fox:

"Conservatives live in constant fear of "wussification": That is the lesson one would learn from watching Fox News in 2013. Media Matters compiled a hilarious list of the top 10 times the word wussification—usually attached to the phrase of America—cropped up on Fox News this past year. The metaphorical testicles of America were lost to a myriad of causes, including the move to change the name of the Washington, D.C., NFL team and the push to end unpaid internships. Unmentioned as a symptom of wussification, interestingly enough, was the use of the term wussification in place of the grittier street alternative that starts with a p.

Considering that Fox worried that suspending a cop for cursing at a bunch of children leads to wussification, you would think they would summon the testicular fortitude to use the word that they really mean.
Lest you think this is simply Fox News employees overcompensating for working within a stone's throw of so many Broadway musicals, rest assured that this nonstop conservative anxiety about keeping things manly is hardly limited to Fox. For their last great push of freaking out over nothing this year, the culture warriors all over the right-wing media threw a major fit because an ad for Obamacare online pictured a man wearing eyeglasses and pajamas. Real men sleep in cargo pants and forsake being able to read rather than admit to needing the assistant of an optometrist, which is a word that nearly rhymes with gynecologist, after all."

Fox totally tipped over when they allowed Palin, O'Reilly et al to rant on a 'War on Christmas'...their other programming is cheap, predictable, boring and infantile. They can even fuck up weather reporting. The only thing they do well is telvised sports... and even then their commentators and broadcasters suck.

Good, investigative journalism may exist...but not not Fox.

How many Fox commentators does it take to change a lightbulb.

none. Fox likes Dim and Dark.
