LAST NIGHT'S T-GOP DEBATE REDUX!

UPDATE:

Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey endorses the guy he said (6 months ago) did not have the temperament or experience to be president.

I guess Trump's experience at shouting, bragging, bullying, snarling, and being an all-around jackass changed Christie's opinion, and now Chris "I didn't know about the bridge" Christie thinks Trump is just perfect for the job:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said Thursday that GOP presidential rival Donald Trump has the right mindset to be president. "Donald's a great guy and a good person. But I just don't think that he's suited to be president of the United States," he told Fox News host Greta Van Susteren as they walked along the Jersey Shore.

He added: "I don't think his temperament is suited for that and I don't think his experience is." Christie, often accused of having his own temperament issues, was responding to Van Susteren asking if he would be willing to "take a swipe" at at the Republican front-runner and real-estate tycoon.

The T-GOP has descended into a pit of rabid rancor never before seen in modern times!

Compared to the Democrats debates, Trump & Co. look like demented drunks trying to walk a straight line while punching each other in their faces. Wow! That was about as horrible and embarrassing as it gets. A major American political party duking it out in the sewer!

Heh. If that training dummy with the mask had been at the debate, it would rightly have been declared the winner. And the guys in this video look like prospective future Republican candidates, carrying on the Clint-Eastwood-and-the-chair tradition of party leaders who couldn't win a fight with an inanimate object.

Shaw, thanks for the PM Carpenter link. So, they're auditing Trump because he's a strong Christian? That may convince the Kim Davis types anyway.

Saddest but most revealing comment of the night from the Gooper Debacle:

"Will someone please insult me." -- Ben Carson

Are the Tea Party Republicans completely blind to what they've done to the GOP? Does anyone with a functioning brain support this sad group of idiots?

While the Goopers salivate over Clintoon emails, they're ignoring a real scandal:

Of greater concern to the Trump campaign, and to the political party that it has hijacked so effectively, ought to be this lawsuit concerning the alleged multi-state bunco operation known as Trump University.

In court filings last Friday, lawyers for both sides in a long-running civil lawsuit over the now defunct Trump University named Trump on their witness lists. That makes it all but certain that the reality-show star and international businessman will be forced to be grilled under oath over allegations in the lawsuit that he engaged in deceptive trade practices and scammed thousands of students who enrolled in his "university" courses in response to promises he would make them rich in the real estate market.

Although the case has been winding its way through the courts for the past five years — and Trump has denied all wrongdoing — the final pretrial conference is now slated for May 6, according to the latest pleadings in the case. No trial date has been set, but the judge has indicated his interest in moving the case forward, the pleadings show. "This is pretty amazing," said Scott Reed, a veteran Republican Party consultant, about Trump's upcoming due date in federal court. "Usually, you clean this stuff up before you run for president."
Phony universities are the scandal du jour, and Trump U. is a fine example of one.

Last nights debate was comical and entertaining. The two adults in the room? Kasich and Carson. The only one actually trying to discuss/answer questions while providing real insight into what his policy specifies might be, Kasich, although Carson tried.

My wife summed it up the best... "What a group of children, Trump, Cruz, and Rubio.

It looks to me like Trump is the Teflon Candidate. Nothing sticks and the more outrageous he gets the higher he goes in the polls.

Americans are a curious lot.

Haven't seen this sort of juvenile taunting since I left grammar school:

Rubio suggests Trump wet his pants on debate stage

Marco Rubio relentlessly mocked Donald Trump on Friday, escalating the attacks he unleashed during Thursday night’s debate and even suggesting the Republican frontrunner may have wet his pants on the stage.

The Florida senator, clearly buoyed by knocking Trump off balance, repeatedly called the billionaire businessman a “con artist” on Friday, first on the morning shows and then at a Dallas rally, where he had the crowd chuckling over his latest barbs.
“He called me Mr. Meltdown. Let me tell you something, last night in the debate during one of the breaks, two of the breaks, he went backstage and he was having a meltdown,” Rubio claimed. ”First he had one of those makeup things applying around his mustache because he had one of those sweat mustaches. Then, then he asked for a full length mirror, I don’t know why because the podium goes up to here (gestures to chest). I don’t know why maybe to make sure his pants weren’t wet.”

And he continued with the attempts to emasculate the real estate mogul whose campaign is largely based on a showing of strength.

"It's time. The charade is up … a tough guy? This guy inherited $200 million. He's never faced any struggle … Donald Trump has never punched anyone in the face. Donald Trump was the first guy that begged for secret service protection. First guy," Rubio said.

Dear God! Don't let these mental midgets anywhere near any power!

Sorry about the screw-up comment, Shaw. I had to delete and post again because of typos.

No problem, R.C.

Take a look at what Digby wrote. She's right on the money:

"The post-debate analysts all said that Trump was exposed as a lightweight on policy questions, as if that’s news. Of course he sounded like a fool talking about health care and foreign policy. But he’s never sounded even slightly competent in these debates and it hasn’t exactly hurt him. Policy is not his thing, dominance and attitude are and when he said “this guy’s a choke artist and this guy’s a liar” about the two men standing on either side of him he might as well have pounded his chest and let out a roar.

And you have to give the guy credit for chutzpah, saying after the debate that he might be being audited by the IRS because he’s such a “strong Christian” and pretending to be offended by vulgar language used by former Mexican President Vicente Fox when he complained about Trump’s plan for a wall earlier in the day. He has no shame. And that’s what his fans love about him."

The rest is HERE and well worth a read.

Here's a batshit crazy TeaGooper happy to see Trump destroy the Republican Party.

"Hasta la vista, GOP. Either the GOP embraces Trump, or the party will be reduced to Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. Trump is slowing dismantling the political armor - piece, by piece, by piece. Trump will take Florida and Texas. The humiliation which will be felt by Rubio and Cruz will be palpable

Guts On a Platter. That is what will be left of the GOP."

Senator Lindsey knows what he's talking about. That is one batshit crazy Gooper. The party has been taken over by the lunatics.

RN, I've gone past thinking what happened last night is comical. Yes, Kasich and Carson were the only adults on stage, and it's too bad that the audience and the people promoting the clown show think so little of our electoral process.

Electing a president is a damn serious business. And we had a candidate last night actually suggest that Trump may have wet his pants?!

And remember, it's not all the American people who support the odious Mr. Trump, just those who have no respect anymore for anything, and have become terminal cynics.

Ducky's here said...

You're correct, RN, Kasich was the only one actually trying to make a reasoned statement.

However, the tone of the debate was just above "your momma" jokes.
Look for Vince McMahon to moderate any remaining.

It was intensely sad to see it come to this.

Rubio suggests Trump wet his pants on debate stage

A low blow indeed, but it's hard to sympathize with Trump after his earlier remark about Megyn Kelly. He set the tone and can't complain if others follow him down into the muck.

Christie may be angling to be Trump's running mate. Or maybe it's just the natural comradeship of one loud obnoxious overweight guy for another.
