Compare and Contrast

The new FLOTUS and POTUS.

As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words:

To Donnie, you earn the face you end up with in your old age.

Now have a look at what a real loving couple looks like:

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF MEN IN THIS WORLD.

Friday gave us so many little moments like that. Whether they were dancing or sitting, Melania and Donald Trump didn't seem comfortable or loving around each other.

Dave Miller said...

The Donald and his wife also looked very stiff at the balls. As one of my friends said while we were watching... she looked like she was showing something off on the Price is Right.

Shaw, do you think we will hear the right telling her, or whoever else functions as first lady to shut up in this administration?

Remember old Malcontent blathering that we elect only a president and the woman just needs to shut up? When questioned, he said he'd say the same if a Republican won election.

Then we should maybe ask for help in coming up with a disparaging nickname for Melania and choose an animal to use as a comparison too, because you know, conservatives and extremist bloggers see all that as just for fun, as evidenced by their actions the last 8 years.

Why should they get all the fun?

In reality, I with our Pres and his wife well, safety and success. You know, just like they did for President Barack Obama.

That's Trump's "happy face".

skudrunner said...

The press at work. Nice picture of XPBHO and it is nice to see him leave with a smile on his face. His leaving brought a smile to as many faces as PDJT moving in.

Now we should all hope PDJT will be a great success for the American people unless you are so partisan you hope he fails and takes down the remainder of the middle class XBHO couldn't get to.

Jerry Critter said...

May the people treat Trump and "what's her name" with the same level of respect that he treated President Obama.

Les Carpenter said...

Hope he fails? Nope. Hope he succeeds? Yep.

I quite sure skud you, as well as other partisans of the right, will hold Trump to a considerably lower standard than you held is predecessor.

I sympathize with Melania for being married to the boorish clod.

Skud, I have no sympathy for.

skud: "Now we should all hope PDJT will be a great success for the American people unless you are so partisan you hope he fails and takes down the remainder of the middle class XBHO couldn't get to."

Skud, I don't know what values you learned growing up. The sort of repulsive human being that Trump is has nothing to do with partisanship, but to do with a deeply flawed man who now has tremendous power to ruin not just Americans' lives, but people's lives around the world.

Decent people I know learned that mocking the disabled is beastly bad manners; that cheating people out of money by scamming them with a fake university degree is a sleazy as well as illegal thing to do; that bragging about sexually assaulting women is shockingly loutish; that mocking and trashing POWs and Gold Star families who sacrifice for their country is unacceptable and egregiously unAmerican behavior. And every father I know would find repulsively sick a man -- Donald Trump -- who said it was okay for a radio shock jock to call his young daughter "a piece of ass."

Those are just a few of the things attributable to the loathsome Trump who now is POTUS through some sort of hideous tear in the space/time continuum.

I don't admire or accept a man as unbalanced and incapable of normal human decency as is Trump. No good can come of an administration headed by such a character.

His first order of business as the champion of the "forgotten American?" To cancel a mortgage program, set to go into effect on January 27, that would have given some measure of help to the poorest of the poor homeowners. How's that for the "forgotten Americans?"

Right now, as I type this comment to you, 500,000 women and men are marching on Washington D.C., probably more than were at Trump's dark and hideous inauguration yesterday. In addition to the hundreds of thousands of marchers in DC, there are and have been marches around the country and the world against Trump. I was at a huge march on Boston Common this morning.

I don't remember seeing marches of this magnitude around the U.S. and world for any other US president the day after coming into office. That ought to tell you and those who voted for President 37% what the rest of America and the world think of him. THEY DON'T LIKE HIM. People know a fraud when they see one -- well, not everyone, that's for sure.

Do I wish him success? Not if he's going to continue to hurt the poorest of the poor, women and their health care, and any other human being whom he feels doesn't give him the adulation and homage he believes is owed to him. IMO Trump is a dangerous, unbalanced man. Nothing good can come from that.

Dave, I didn't watch the inauguration or any of the festivities in live time, I only saw the reports on them.

I actually feel sorry for Melania. She never looks lovingly at Trump nor does he look lovingly at her. There's a tension there. It's a good bet that Melania's been, at minimum, psychologically abused by him. We've seen how he reacts toward others at the merest slight via his Tweets. Imagine what homelife must be for her if she doesn't do his bidding in everything.

Poor Melania. She didn't ask for this. How frightening it must be for her to think of what is expected of a FLOTUS. I don't think she's up to those duties, and she knows it. That's why Ivanka will probably take on most of those tasks. I've heard Melania speak in interviews, and she does have problems with her English skills. Why that is, is a mystery to me. She came here when she was in her 20s and eventually married a billionaire who could have paid for the best tutors to help her improve her English. Apparently that wasn't a priority or she didn't feel the need for it.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Ahab, I saw some of those moments, and they certainly were sad. They don't look as happy and in love as the Obamas are. Even billions of dollars can't buy that, can it.

skudrunner said...

Ms Shaw I am sure your opinion is shared by many.
I do not remember the uproar at the inauguration of XPBHO even though he promised to dismantle the middle class and ruin small business by sharing the wealth, whatever that meant, and shut down a whole state industry (coal).

The people who he attacked with the government built your business supported XPBHO because he was now the president of all of us. As it turned out he was the president of some of us if you were special interest or rich.

I have looked at all the news shows and have seen few protests in middle America, why is that? Seems like the coasties are the ones that are the most unhappy because they didn't get their way.

We do live in interesting times

Skud said... and I doubt he will return to comment again...

"Now we should all hope PDJT will be a great success for the American people unless you are so partisan you hope he fails and takes down the remainder of the middle class XBHO couldn't get to."

Let's remember Skud, Rush, Sen McConnell and the rest of the GOP had that as their stated goal for the Obama Presidency.

We're gonna try and try and not be as anti-America as they were these next four years... but if we slip, you know from where we learned it.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skud: "I have looked at all the news shows and have seen few protests in middle America,"

Chicago isn't "middle America?" My friends in Atlanta told me there were many, many people marching today. Denver, Colorado, had thousands of people marching as well. You seem to read only what matches with your prejudiced ideas. There were many other American cities besides the coastal ones that joined in the march.

BTW, the Americans living in those "coastal" cities are as red-blooded, true blue Americans as any other American in Kansas, Salt Lake City, or Birmingham, Alabama. We are real Americans. Don't go all elite on us and say otherwise.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Also, skud, Nashville in red Tennessee had 15,000 marchers.

The crowd assembles before marching across the river.

So maybe Nashville didn't have the crowd that Washington, D.C. had, but estimates put today's Women's March on Nashville at 15,000 attendees

Shaw Kenawe said...

A friend of mine in Wisconsin told me there were 100,000 who marched.

Next time, dear skud, get your facts right. Thanks.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skud: Austin, Texas.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Antarctica!

Women's march: Women hate Donald Trump so much they are even marching against him in Antarctica

Les Carpenter said...

Apparently skud and president tRump have a few things in common.

Shaw here's more evidence to prove skidrunner wrong:

Larger-than-expected crowds of women and their allies raised their voices against the new administration, and in support of women's rights, health issues, equality, diversity and inclusion. Below are images of today’s marches in Washington, New York, Denver, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Seattle, and from other cities in England, Ghana, France, Canada, Serbia, Australia, Kenya, Germany, India, and many more.

Just coastal cities skid?

skudrunner said...

Everyone has a right to protest and that is the American Way, as is a peaceful transfer of power. Most of the speakers were so mainstream, moore, cher, ashley. One of the issues this protest has is what do they stand for, kind of like -H-. Everyone knows they and she are against PDJT but no one knows what they are protesting for unless it is the assumption that there will be a reduction of free stuff and handing the bill to the working taxpayer.

Like OWS, what are they protesting for beside losing one of their benefits before it has been lost? I did see on the local news a protester against over turning RvW. That is never going to happen and the GOP needs to realize that but so does the left.

The one thing I didn't see in all of the massive millions was anything about job opportunity. Thats right the is was not for anything it was just against.

Dave, I never duck you questions, sometimes my response is not published but this time I cannot figure out what you are saying other than I doubt I will return to comment again.

If it about stopping xpbho from winning another term, what party hasn't said that about an incumbent, the dems are doing that now and PDJT just took office.

skudruner wrote "I have looked at all the news shows and have seen few protests in middle America, why is that?"

And Shaw gave several answers to that uninformed statement and you have nothing to say. Shaw has a lot of patience to allow yu to come here and post lies and when she proves you're wrong you change the subject? Typical right wing hack. there were protests all over America including middle america and the south and all over the world, skud. It wasn't just "coastal" America. Ignore the facts? Trump administration and his gang want to defund Planned Parenthood, an organization that provides affordable health care not FREE health care to poor women and the Trump gang is going to take that away. The first thing the Trump gang attacked is the poor. They cut off mortgagae help for the very poor and they are going to cut medical help for poor women as well.

People like skud have their heads in a very dark and moist place and refuse to see what the fascist Trump administration is up to.

Jerry Critter said...

Here's another reason why there may have been fewer protests in middle America. Fewer people live there!

Les Carpenter said...

skud, you seem rather unfocused, all over the place. Your guy won. You should be happy, signing his praises. President Obama is no longer President and HRC never was. So focus and remind us of "all the good" pResident tRump is about to do for aMerica. Surely you can so that. Right skud?

skudrunner said...

Joan,
Sorry you feel I do not answer when confronted, I try to reply but sometimes my posts go in the trash. As to Ms Shaw allowing me to post on her blog, maybe she wants a different slant on things. It becomes so boring talking to yourself, don't you think.

It was impressive to see all the protests, something I did in the 60's against the war. There were so many interests involved but two things they had in common. They are afraid they will lose something others pay for and they didn't vote for PDJT.

As to the crowds at the inaugural, seems like XPBHO has a larger crowd but it will remain a talking point until the media decides it isn't.

Oh and I don't think the defunding of PPH is for the healthcare part it is about the abortion part and people who are anti abortion paying for it. I am pro choice because it is the women who has to live with her decision and is non of my business.
How would you feel if some of your taxes went to the NRA to fund gun safety classes.

Jerry Critter said...

skud - " ...the defunding of PPH i...it is about the abortion part"

Quit it with the "alternative facts", skud. Abortion represents only about 3% of PPH spending and no federal tax dollars can be spent on abortion by law.

skudrunner said...

JC

So why not use that 3% for something else and why does PPH have to sponsor abortions. Planned Parenthood is what they are called so maybe they should change their name.
I have no issue with PPH but it should not be supported with tax dollars. Neither should religion or "tax free groups and charities" both of which support specific agendas.
You want to support abortions or move-on.org or free food to Mexico, go for it if it makes your day but why should everyone have to pay for programs they do not support?

Rh, again don't you have something to add. Yes I am glad we are finished with eight years of stagnation and attack on me and no I am not enthusiastic over PDJT but the choice was deplorable.

Les Carpenter said...

I agree wholeheartedly the choices were not good skud. Unfortunately the deplorable one won.

You should really check the facts skud, really. Almost all economic indicators, including employment are up as Obama leaves office. Trump is handed a nation in far better shape than the one GWB handed Obama in 2009.

Talk to me in four years skud, we'll compare notes then. Your narrative has if nothing else grown tedious.
