"Maybe the most horrible thing about having Donald Trump in the White House is the power it gives him to make people talk about Donald Trump. Because, really, that guy is simply disgusting.

Oh, and complaining about football is also Trump’s way of distracting you from the fact that it increasingly seems like Robert Mueller is going to come along and say “Get that son of a bitch out of that office, right now.” Which is going to make Mueller the most popular person in the world." --Mark Sumner, daily kos

Well my personal thoughts are... I have. Nothing against players when they want to see change in society, I know that we don't live in a perfect society. In fact we live in an imperfect society. But that's alright, But on the other hand I believe very strongly in patriotism in the NFL, as well as in all sports. I personally believe very strongly in that. I think it's important to have respect for our country, for our flag, for the people who make our country better, and greater, for law enforcement, and for our military who are out fighting for our freedoms and our ideals.

These are all important things for us, and that moment is a very important moment. So, I don't necessarily agree with what this Creep Kspecknick is doing. I also encourage our ball players to be respectful all the time, as they are the heros to our children. The people that our children look up to. I would like to think of it as a moment where we can unite as a country. And that's what we need more, and that's what I think football does - it unites our country. So I would like to see us focusing on our similarities and trying to bring people together.

Players who have a problem need to find another way to solve it, not by disprespecting our National Anthem. I would want them to be respectful and it's important for them to do that.
I think it's important if they see things they want to change in society, and clearly we have things that can get better in society, and we should get better. But we have to choose respectful ways of doing that so that we can achieve the outcomes we ultimately want and do it with the values and ideals that make our country great..

RN, that wasn't the best way for expressing your point , in fact it was pretty lame if you asked me! And yes I know, you didn't ask me, but I thought I'd say so anyway .

It is only an honor to go to the White House when there is a real president in it.

Susannah: "I also encourage our ball players to be respectful all the time, as they are the heros to our children..."

It's difficult for me not to see the profound hypocrisy in your statement. The ultimate role model for our children, the POTOUS, called people who exercise their constitutional rights "sons of bitches" in front of children. How's that for "role modeling?" The POTUS, as the head of the US government, then went on to tell the heads of private sports teams to fire anyone who exercises those constitutional guarantees: peaceful demonstrations. That's what a tyrant would say.

That you and others like you don't understand what Trump screamed at his Alabama rally is deeply and shockingly unAmerican and how that DISRESPECTS everything America stands for is disturbing.

What Kaepernick and others who peacefully demonstrate is the VERY THING that our brave military women and men shed their blood for. Our men and women in the military have paid the price over the centuries for Americans to be able to petition their government, to be able to peacefully demonstrate, and, in addition to other freedoms, to enjoy the freedom of speech.

Donald Trump, in his ignorance and racism, has turned all of what Americans have fought and died for into something shameful, something a tyrant would demand of his supporters: unquestioning obedience and worship.

Trump is the exact opposite of an American patriot, Colin Kaepernick is a shining example of one.

That you don't understand that truth is your problem, not ours.

Having basically zero interest in sports, especially pro sports, I will admit a certain ignorance as to what all is going on. That said, I just don't see what everyone is getting their panties in such knots about some pro sports person kneeling for the anthem? (Why it's even played before games is beyond me.) it's not like they are dropping their pants or even standing but turning their backs while it's being played. Just seems like people are looking for something to get mad about.

The president telling anyone to fire an employee may be illegal.

United States Code Title 18 § 227 #TakeAKnee

(b) In this section, the term “covered government person” means—
(1) a Senator or Representative in, or a Delegate or Resident Commissioner to, the Congress;
(2) an employee of either House of Congress; or
(3) the President, Vice President, an employee of the United States Postal Service or the Postal Regulatory Commission, or any other executive branch employee (as such term is defined under section 2105 of title 5, United States Code).

Jerry, Trump doubled down this AM on his order to NFL owners to suspend or fire anyone who kneels during the national anthem. Trump has lied, cheated, and broken the law all his life, why are we surprised that he'd be a lawless president? On top of being a stupid one?

possumlady Trump is the last person to be criticizing anyone about disrespecting America. He's brought mountains of shame and ridicule on our country since the Russians helped him get into the White House.

NFL players kneeling for our national anthem and then standing for the British national anthem was a HUGE statement. A great bigly middle finger to tRump and his putrid un-Americanism.

It's just a game.

If we cannot see political protests in a game, where can we?

We should tell our children to have better idols and heroes than ball players and rock stars.

That's how we end up with a celebrity idiot (Trump) as president.

I love the hypocrisy of those who are against Kapernick's protest sitting on our flag because they have it sewed into the ass of their jeans. It's like telling the government to keep their hands off Social Security, or Medicare.

It's an insult to our country that idiot citizens allowed Trump to become president.

Why do we fight and die for freedom just to censor free speech at a ball game, at a college, or at a public health care debate?

The people can no longer discern between garbage and responsible free speech, no matter what they are espousing.

Trump had every right to spew his garbage, whose fault is it that he won the election?

Don't give me your rigged election conspiracy theories, by that measure Kennedy, Johnson, Jefferson, and many others were illegitimate presidents. He won the Constitutional way, by winning the Electoral College, no matter what his strategy was. If the American voters were not so gullible and stupid the election would never be so close that Trump had a chance to win.

Dave Miller said...

As several NFL players take knees and the right trots out Tim Tebow as their anti Kapernick, let's not lose sight of the fact that CK identifies as a Christian.

Most on the right can't digest that little tidbit...

Dave Miller said...

Susannah said... "So I would like to see us focusing on our similarities and trying to bring people together."

And you're blaming the players?

What about a President who calls them, opposing candidates and world leaders names? What about a president who says there were good people people chanting "Blood and Soil"? What about a president who insults a war hero like John McCain? What about a president who boasts about grabbing womens genitals?

And you call out NFL players?

I noticed you too like to name call in your posts... Is President Trump your role model? Are is he a good role model for your kids, nieces or nephews? If you're calling our CK, are you willing to consider that just maybe, Pres Trump is not a very sterling guy either?

Incredible...

Susannah is nothing more than a troll, and an unintentionally silly one too. And the troll knows nothing about the US Constitution.

Just to be clear, "Susannah," or whomever you really are, no one here kisses ANYONE"S "Brno." That's an historic city in the Czech Republic.

Begone now, troll. You're not welcome here!.

E. Rosewater, We can deal with both issues at the same time. One is about CTE, a serious health problem involved with playing football, and the other is about an American president, the head of the executive branch of the US government, telling a private corporation to punish its employees for exercising their constitutional rights. What Trump said is characteristic of a dictatorial tyrant, not a POTUS, and that's troubling.

You are the same vile, disgusting PIG as you were back when I was blogging years ago.
I couldn't stand you then and I can remember why. And by the way, you haven't changed one bit. You are still the same disgusting vile anti everything good in this country.
So don't worry, I won't be back.
And as for your friend the ass kissing Dave Miller, who is to cowardly to allow comments on the piece of crap he calls a bog, can go to hell with you, or go to Mexico the choice is the same..

Imagine denying someone their right of freedom of expression simply because you happen to disagree with their point of view/opinion. Who knew America would one day come to this? Well, anyone who's been paying attention to Trump and the GOP.

Infidel753 said...

Not always, but quite often, when someone says "bring people together" and "focus on our similarities", it actually means "shut up about the issues on which you disagree with me". Unite everyone around a common set of values -- mine, not yours.

The football players are protesting police brutality and a society that sanctions it -- not protesting the national anthem. As for those who object to this form of protest, it seems clear enough that they believe people they disagree with have a right to free expression, but only in the abstract -- for any actual, specific form of protest they decide to use, such people will find some reason to object to it.

OT - Is it acceptable to incite violence against another? Is it acceptable to incite rioting? Is it acceptable to disrespect the free speech rights of others while demanding others respect yours? Is the use of force acceptable when it is a response to aggression initiated by another towards you?

Does the BLOTUS ever contemplate the above, or any other issue of real importance? We don't know but think it is unlikely he does.

Most troubling is that the more bizzare the BLOTUS acts the more agitated and excited his 30 something percent supporters become. Think about that for a moment.

WELL!

Who cares about privileged wealthy black football players and their petty grievances! I, myself, gave up collecting Redskins merchandise decades ago when the players started acting like jackasses. Case in point: John Riggins getting drunk and urinating behind the drapes at a high-end restaurant and Dexter Manley's drug escapades. Role models NOT!

Instead, I support a man who bragged about committing adultery while married to his 3 differenct wives. I support a man who bragged about grabbing women's p*ssies because he's a star and can do it. I support a man who said he didn't like a POW because he got captured. I support a man who made fun of a disabled journalist. I support a man who disrespected a Gold Star family. I support a man who gave up intel to Russians who were in the Oval Office to the exclusion of Americans! I support a man who yells at rallies to LOCK HER UP! about his pollitical opponent- just like dictators did in history. I support a man who had to pay $25 million in a law suite because he cheated Americans with his Trump University scam. I support a man who is known to stiff anyone who he hires to do work for him. I support a man who practices nepotism like all the despots in history have. I support a man who doesn't know anything about the Bible but lies to me that he does. I support a man who is a pathological liar, a scam artist, an adulterer, and ignorant of American history and the US Constitution.

Role model? YES!

Mr. Trump never peed in a restaurant (maybe on a Russian Lady of the Evening, but NEVER behind the draperies in a restaurant! Good Lord! How tasteless!) And Trump NEVER took drugs! Heavens! How disrespectful!

I support Mr. Trump because he belongs to my tribe and I will always betray my religious and political values as long as any scam artist puts an "R" after his or her name.

Proud to be a Trump Republican!

More on the sick man and poor excuse for a humsn being that the GOP helped put in the WH and that Newsweek is reporting on:

"Donald Trump thinks Ivanka “looks down on me,” concedes he has groped Melania in public, knows his compulsive handwashing “could be a psychological problem” and once suggested deploying sleeping gas on planes to deter terrorists, according to a new archive of all the conversations he had on air with The Howard Stern Show.

Those comments, along with various eyebrow-raising but predictable vulgarities, can be found in a new, online archive of Trump’s 15 hours of radio banter with the shock jock. In them, he discusses the relative hotness of his wives (and almost every other female celebrity of the moment) and his feelings about his daughter Ivanka, while chortling with Stern’s crew as they joked about who was more “gay” and whether getting vomited on was more gross than eating food that had been on someone’s anus."

This is the creature the base of the GOP admires.

IMO, once a pig, always a pig.

Shaw... can you diagram this drivel from Susannah???

"And as for your friend the ass kissing Dave Miller, who is to cowardly to allow comments on the piece of crap he calls a bog, can go to hell with you, or go to Mexico the choice is the same.."

I don't even have a political BOG these days because most of the people from the right who comment are unable to put together a cogent thought without cussing, swearing and using language that would make your grandmother blush.

At least she can go back to WYD and continue to add useless comments that only serve to insult people and not even bother with the false facts presented there everyday.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dave, there's a strong possibility that "Susannah" is TOM/LUKE/STEVE/RUSTY/REDNECK or any one of Lisa's sock puppets. It's not possible to diagram "her" twisted grammar because it's written like someone in a drunken stupor. "Susannah" is a troll.

The curious thing about WYD trolls is that they come to my blog, read it, and become infuriated by my opinions. It would take very little brain power to figure out that if you don't like someone's opinions, then you should stay away from reading them on her blog.

"Susannah" and her ilk haven't the intellectual capacity to understand that simple idea. Poor things.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Anonymous: "Enormous red meat for the base ." Lord Dampnut's base is 30% of the voting public. Does he think he can continue to govern with that little support from the American people?

Let's wait to see his poll numbers after his huge fubar this weekend over the NFL and "taking the knee."

Infidel753 said...

He did briefly taking some time out from bitching about the NFL to tweet about Puerto Rico, but he seems more concerned about how much debt it has than the hurricane.

I guess a bog is where Pip and Kspecknick post comments while they're visiting Brno.

Like most people who voted for #45, you're not very bright. It was Trump who politicized football by talking about the NFL players "taking a knee," and calling them s.o.b.s. The Democrats didn't do that.

Next time you feel compelled to write a rant, get your damn facts straight.j The one you left here makes you and all the other whiners look idiotic.

PS. Every NFL team, including the Dallas Cowboys, joined with Colin Kaepernick's protest.

Protesting an injustice is the bedrock of American democracy. I suggest you educate yourself before you shoot off your mouth again.
