GOP Thug threatens Michael Cohen before his appearance in Congress on Wednesday

Cohen will testify to criminal conduct by Trump in tomorrow's hearing. GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz threatens Cohen:

GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz appears to threaten Michael Cohen on Twitter

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) tweeted a threat to President Trump's former personal attorney Michael Cohen on the eve of his public testimony before the House Oversight Committee.

Hey @MichaelCohen212 - Do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends? Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she’ll remain faithful when you’re in prison. She’s about to learn a lot...

10.7K people are talking about this
Why it matters: Cohen originally postponed his appearance before various congressional committees in part because of "threats against his family" from Trump and his attorney Rudy Giuliani. At his hearing tomorrow, Cohen is  expected to present evidence of alleged "criminal conduct" by Trump during his time as president, a source familiar with Cohen's testimony told Axios.

No one's surprised to read a GOP representative threatening Cohen. Cohen must have a shitload of damaging revelations about Trump because the wingnuts are pulling out all stops to denigrate him. We'll see tomorrow what a pos the wingnuts admire and support as POTUS.

Matt Gaetz should spend a little time talking to some investigators about his ham handed attempt at witness intimidation and tampering. I would bet you that Trump had a hand in this.

The official White House response, apparently delivered with a straight face, was that Cohen is a "convicted liar" and nothing he says can be trusted.

This leads me to a few questions...

1. Did DJT know during the campaign that Cohen was a liar and not to be trusted and yet hired him anyways, or have they just learned recently that he's a liar?

2. Is it bad to have someone working in the White House who, as a liar, and by the WH denunciation today, cannot be trusted?

3. When it becomes known that someone is a liar, should we not trust anything they say in the future? As implied by today's denunciation of Cohen.

Also, Dave, Cohen was the deputy finance chairman of the RNC as recently as June 2018. Did the GOP just discover since June that Cohen lies?

Also, Trump is on record as lying far more than Cohen.

So, no, the GOP's attempt at discrediting Cohen isn't going to work. Cohen is already headed to jail. Why would he lie again and UNDER OATH? What would it gain him? NOTHING.

I've got a lot o popcorn ready for tomorrow.

Ray, it's amazing that a member of Congress would stoop to such tactics. I hope he gets creamed for what he did.

Nokka, witness tampering and intimidation is a crime. I hope Gaetz pays for what he did.

Trump's in trouble and tomorrow it will get worse. Believe me. Bigly.

You seriously believe that was a threat. Maybe Mueller will come out with his report and put all of this collusion stuff to rest. If djt is found innocent the dems can find something else to go after him with. Maybe his taxes, which are no ones business, or his family life, which is no ones business. I think he should publish his taxes and business dealings along side the pelsosi, feinstein, waters and chuckie.

Maybe cortez can work on a bill that any politician has to donate all of their assets above 10 million to the public coffers. She does believe 10 mill is all anyone should have. Talk about politicians from both sides running for the hills.

And now Republican Rep Matt Gaetz slams Cohen for supposedly cheating on his wife. He believes that if a guy lies to his family, he must not be believed.

I wonder if the Congressman has just decided that lying about an affair brands someone as a liar and makes all other words from his or her mouth not to be believed?

Or... if it matters to everyone other than Pres Trump.

Today's GOP... it's bad to have an affair and mislead your family... unless your name is Trump.

This is the party that said Pres Obama had no family values.

Frankly I think this post has REALLY made a stretch to arrive at the conclusion this was a "threat".

But hey, that's just me.

Trump praised Manafort who lied to Congress, prosecutors, banks, his own lawyers, everyone. Cohen finally tells the truth and Trump calls him a 'rat'. Go figure. Skud, Dwight D. Eisenhower built a socialist federal highway system, expanded Social Security and union membership, and the top marginal tax rate was 91% on income over $300K. AOC has proposed only 70% 0n income over $10M. She's to the Right of Ike!

Shaw, you’re not the only one who thought his tweet was a veiled threat.

Shaw Kenawe said...

RN, I heard practicing criminal lawyers say it was a threat. Also, some have said it is not.

Craig, Trump likes liars who support him. Those who do not, not so much. Thanks for reminding skudrunner how Ike-like AOC actually is.

possumlady, the fact that Gaetz deleted his Tweet confirms what a lot of people, including some criminal lawyers thought. Thanks for the link.

I support everyone paying their "Fair Share" say 15% of everything you earn, no deductions for anyone including charities, churches and the Clinton foundation. If you look back at the tax system during the Eisenhower era you will notice that it actually favored the rich because they could work around expenses thus lowering their actual tax rate significantly.

Socialist highway system is funny because improving things for all American people is what the Federal government is suppose to do. AOC is all for a free for all and you only have to work if you want to because the government will provide. Now is a time where madam pelosi is looking like a moderate.

skud, this morning, under oath with the knowledge that he already is going to jail, Michael Cohen testified that your hero, Donald J. Trump, used his charitable foundation to purchase, for $60,000, an oil portrait of himself, using his own Trump Foundation to pay for it.

The Clinton Foundation, to my knowledge, has not been found guilty of anything illegal.

You and your friends at the usual far right rabid blogs ignore the fact that you support and excuse a LIAR, A CHEAT, AND A CON MAN.

Michael Cohen made this pretty clear this morning: Donald Trump is a crook.

Les Carpenter said...

Is it fair to say crooks attract other crooks? I think it is true therefar reasonable and fair to believe Trump s a crook. He retained Cohen for 10 years as his fixer. If Trump did nothing unethical, immoral, OR criminal why did he need a fixer?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Rhetorical question, RN. You and I and most ratioinal people understand that Trump is a cheat, a liar and a charlatan who is unworthy of the office he currently holds. Why people still defend the indefensible is a mystery. What Michael Cohen stated today, under oath, is devastating to our country and should be to the folks who still support Trump. At some point, they'll understand their grotesque mistake in continuing to support Trump.

By your comments Mrs. Shaw you seem to think 60 million voters and the over 90% of republicans who support DJT will because of Cohen's show should or will discontinue their support of the president. Don't hold your breath.

Ms Shaw, Your serial rapist's foundation is used to support their extravagant lifestyle and of course their daughter. I am all for eliminating the tax dodge known as charities. As an atheist I am surprised you do not go after the tax free religion business.

It is unfortunate we have a president who is a constant target for the media but he does bring it on himself. Obama the magnificent escaped all media scorn because he did nothing for eight years except commit to spending billions on feel good do nothing world programs. It is a shame he was so weak because he could have made a real difference. Oh well unlike trump BHO was a nice guy so that is something positive.

skud, are you forgetting about FAUX Snooze, El Rushbo, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, et all as well as the many conservative publications that trashed President Obama damn near daily?
