Digby:

They [the GOPers on the committee] don't seem to realize that attacking Cohen for being a liar just confirms what Cohen is saying: that he lied to protect Trump, which is what they are now doing. Cohen said near the end of this first segment:

"The more people that follow Mr Trump as I did blindly, are going to suffer the same consequences as I did...look at what's happened to me."

Cohen called Trump a racist, a conman and a cheat and when asked what he would call himself, he answered: "a fool."

These GOP toadies are the same. It's unclear if they will ever realize it. As hard as it is to believe, they are much dumber than Michael Cohen.

Am I wrong to think this testimony gives good reason for the House to subpoena tRump's tax returns?

Ducky, there's compelling reason to subpoena them. I hope they do.

These tweets totally expose the elephant in the congressional room...

If Cohen is not to be believed because he's lied in the past, should we also discount statements and promises from Candidate/President Trump because he has in the past lied?

Pres Obama is not a natural born US citizen.
Mexico will pay for the wall.
I had no business, none, with Russia.
The biggest inauguration ever.
The border wall is already being built.
We passed the biggest tax cut in American history.

And about 9000 more falsehoods, lies, untruths, etc.

I am cautious about believing people who have all the sudden seen the light after being a a dishonest scum bag all their lives. His book will probably be a best seller and what is he saving to reveal in his book to help make it a best seller?

Folks, truth, honesty, ethical principles, and integrity is simply not important for some. Winning and or the bottom line is the ONLY thing that matters to them. This nation, upon the election of Donald J. Trump, has the disgraceful distinction of putting one of the biggest narcissist, con man, cheat, and liar into the office of the most powerful person in on the planet. That my friends should chill us to the bone.

Cohen is a liar. But with respect to DJT there is little if any question but what he is telling the truth. The GOP leadership and many of the rank and file are nothing more than enablers. They should be embarrassed and ashamed. But they never will be. Power, winning and retaining it, is ALL that is important to them.

With Trump as leader and a despicable GOP this nation is certainly on a steep downhill slide. How long before we hit bottom?

So you don't believe in redemption? If you're a Christian, do you say the same about St. Paul and St. Augustine? They lived questionable and sordid lives then saw the "light." As have many, many others.

Cohen has already been sentenced, he couldn't "lie" to Congress to get a better sentence, as our idiot "president" suggested in one of his idiotic Tweets.

The very people who support Trump say themselves that their Lord and Savior sometimes choses "flawed" people to bring about His will. Why don't those same religious people apply that to Cohen?

Could it be because they're damnable hyupocrites?

RN, the fact that we now have the tools to bring Trump and his corrupt friends to justice means, to me, that our system can and does work. Finally.

Dave, Trump supporters believe his lies and disbelieve other people's truths.

Yes Shaw. But, Trump is still in office, the GOP (elected officials) continue to support him. I am not convinced that Trump is going anywhere any time soon. He may even be reelected.

Honestly Shaw I no longer trust the republican party ... period. However, that does not mean I fully trust the democratic party. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I currently support democrats only because right now the democratic party is less dishonest and threatens our liberties less than the republican party.

That's how I see it anyway.

It's interesting to see an atheist use religion to prove a liar going to jail is now a truth teller, just because what he now says agrees with her version of what she believes to be the truth. Is it you who got religion, or Cohen? Religious believers lie and sin all the time.

I, for one, am not willing to forgive the sins of a sinner, just because he feels bad about his sins, nor am I willing to believe what he now says. I'll leave that to your imaginary God and the idiocy of Trump cultists.

To be clear:

I am not a Christian, and I do not believe Choen now as he tries to save his ass from futher charges of criminal actions.

Anonymous: "It's interesting to see an atheist use religion to prove a liar going to jail is now a truth teller,"

SK: Exactly where did I use religion to prove anything? Try to stick to facts and what I actually wrote instead of making stuff up. And you absolutely made that up.

Anonymous: "just because what he now says agrees with her version of what she believes to be the truth. "

SK: Cohen has evidence to back up what he said, and that has nothing to do with "belief" it has to do with evidence and facts, which, at this point, make Trump look very, very bad and guilty of at the very least corruption and possibly criminal acts.

SK: Try to keep what you write consistent. First you call me an atheist using religion, then you accuse me of having an "imaginary god." Neither, of course, is correct. Also I'm sure Cohen is not concerned with whether or not you forgive him for his sins. Nor is anyone else.

To Anonymous. I'll refuse to be drawn into an argument about whether or not my answer to you was a religious defense or not. This post is not about that.
