WH Mulled Dumping Immigrant Detainees In Sanctuary Cities, Targeting Trump Foes
Trump has said in the past that migrants trying to cross the border are "animals," rapists, drug dealers, and murderers, and yet his administration mulled over the idea of sending migrants to sanctuary cities, which would mean cities run by Democrats -- his opponents.
If trump truly believes his own rhetoric, that the migrants are drug dealers, rapists, and murderers, then what we've heard is that a POTUS would willingly place in mortal danger those citizens of cities that did not support him in the last presidential election.
This is how a dictator operates. Punish your opponents by jailing (Lock Her UP!) or place them in danger by sending what the POTUS believes are drug dealers, rapists, and murderers!
This is where America is under this miserable failure of a president.
The Washington Post reported:
White House officials first broached the plan in a Nov. 16 email, asking officials at several agencies whether members of the caravan could be arrested at the border and then bused “to small- and mid-sized sanctuary cities,” places where local authorities have refused to hand over illegal immigrants for deportation.
The White House told U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that the plan was intended to alleviate a shortage of jail space but also served to send a message to Democrats. The attempt at political retribution raised alarm within ICE, with a top official responding that it was rife with budgetary and liability concerns, and noting that “there are PR risks as well.”
After the White House pressed again in February, ICE’s legal department rejected the idea as inappropriate and rebuffed the administration.
The White House told the Post that the idea has been dropped. But Pelosi’s office was outraged.
“The extent of this administration’s cynicism and cruelty cannot be overstated,” spokeswoman Ashley Etienne told the Post. “Using human beings — including little children — as pawns in their warped game to perpetuate fear and demonize immigrants is despicable.”

Why shouldn't those liberal cities, with people who don't want to exclude "those folks" be made to come up with a different solution?
I don't like playing politics with people's lives, but that's where we are.
Trump doesn't want these folks in the US. His admin wants to limit immigration, Period. But the Dems are not putting forward any serious options for solving the problem either. None.
So what should American do?
Well, they are "Sanctuary Cities" after all, sounds perfectly reasonable
Elect folks with intelligence, empathy, ingenuity, compassion, the ability to reason, and a steel spine. A VERY tall order tyres days it seems.

Sanctuary cities say we don't care about the law we are going to do what we want. If that is the way the feel they should not object to allowing all illegals into their cities because it is the humane thing to do.
Rev, I don't think you are correct. What DJT wants is to restrict ILLEGAL immigration not all immigrant. Maybe the sides should work on comprehensive immigration reform instead of investigating what trump had for breakfast.
Actually you're wrong, skud. Trump and his lackeys want to stop ALL immigration, even legal system. His go-to guy is Steven Goebbles, I mean Miller. If you've read anything about his past, and you probably haven't , you'd know he doesn't want any immigrants in the US.
Trump had the HOUSE and SENATE and SCOTUS until last November and didn't come up with legislation to solve the problem. He wanted to give billionaires a tax cut and take health care away from Americans instead. He failed to do anything because he had no plan for fixing the immigration problems. He did, however, go after trains people in the military, as you know a real huge pressing problem facing Americans. So there's that.

Shaw... I don't think any plan the Dems put forth at all would pass the Senate. But... they have a duty to produce their plan so they can offer an alternative to what the GOP is offering.
At some point the Dems are going to have to start showing us what, specifically they are for, as opposed to what [everything Trump] they are against.
Sorry Skud... we've seen and heard the rhetoric. Trump and his allies like Stephen are clearly angling to restrict all immigration. Remember, "we're full!"

BTW... people seeking asylum are doing it the legal way. They must present themselves to an officer and ask for asylum. But Trump does not want that either.

Even if someone were to resurrect this, the Senate would never vote on it since it had a path to citizenship (which would take 13 years).
