BIARRITZ, France (AP) — U.S. President Donald Trump skipped a discussion on climate with other world leaders at the Group of Seven summit in France, leaving an empty chair as global power brokers debated how to help the fire-ravaged Amazon and reduce carbon emissions.
Trump was scheduled to attend Monday’s session on climate, biodiversity and oceans at the G-7 summit in Biarritz , but didn’t. French President Emmanuel Macron, the summit host, said Trump’s aides were there instead.

His decision to withdraw the United States from the 2015 Paris climate accord has severely damaged global efforts to reduce emissions.
Trump started the morning behind schedule, and held one-on-one meetings while others were in the climate discussions. However, one of his interlocutors, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, managed to make it to the climate meeting. Trump then met with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where he was asked about attending the climate session. Trump said it would be his next stop and that he wants clean air and water. But he never showed up.
Macron shrugged off Trump’s absence, saying it wasn’t his goal to try to persuade Trump to rejoin the climate accord. “You can’t rewrite the past,” Macron told reporters.

Considering he seriously asked about dropping an H-bomb on a hurricane, the other leaders probably felt they could do without his insights on climate.

Today Trump claimed his wife "had gotten to know Kim Jong Un [Dictator of North Korea], and I think she’d agree with me — he is a man with a country that has tremendous potential”
Then the White House was forced to admit that President Trump was just basically making stuff up. Let that sink in for the Mothership sailors... the White House, not the Dems, admitted Trump was lying. That FLOTUS had never even met Dictator Kim.
I assume we can expect all the people who felt lies disqualified WJC, BHO and HRC to step up and call for Trump to resign.
I'm sure that'll happen when Trump uses Camp David, which the US owns, for his summits with world leaders, instead of his personal hotel and/or golf courses.
What a day...
It is embarrassing to watch Mr. Trump at these meetings. The lies...about the China phone call, Mnuchin’s body language gave that one away. Or that he had prior commitments with Germany and India so that was why he did not attend the climate change session. Did he think we wouldn’t notice that Mrs. Merkel and Mr. Modi did attend that session? The hawking of his Doral property as a possible site for the next G7 was cringe worthy. The possibility of inviting Mr. Putin to the next G7 meeting in an election year - really?! I’d hope that every reporter asks members of Congress, especially those who are up for re-election, how they would feel about that?
I can only imagine what Mr. Trump’s “performance” will be like at next month’s UN meeting. November 3, 2020 can’t come soon enough.
