General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

YES!!!! This needs to played on every news program, though talk about stating the obvious...
It was an amazing day of testimony. Today's promises to be too, imo. But still the moronic Republiscum will keep their heads in the sand and refuse to see what's right in front of their faces. There is NO honor in the Republiclown party, anymore. They ceded any and all honor, dignity and patriotism they ever had to protect this most criminal orange blob infesting our WH.
So true! The GOP is in classic “Attack The Messenger” mode. They have no defense for what Donald has done. In other words, they are supporting what he has done. They say it is OK. It is The Messenger who is at fault here and should be punished, no the perp, Donald!
Possumlady, BlueBull, Jerry Critter, Yes. The GOP has no shame. It proved that to America and the world when it voted to have a proven liar, cheat, fraud, and morally diseased man sit in the Oval Office.
It is very plain to anyone who reads the facts that Trump sought to bribe the Ukraine so that they would promote lies about Joe Biden and his son for Trump's re-election campaign. Trump's been a bully, liar, and cheat all his life, and he brought those loathsome traits into the Oval Office and disgraced America.
I have no use for anyone who still is too blind to see this.
We've spent weeks listening to witnesses. We've spend millions of dollars and countless hours hearing the "breathtaking" "bombshell" "incriminating" testimony from career diplomats and sworn military personnel.
And where are we?
The same place we were 3 months ago because the Democratic partisans, those on the far left side, never thought pragmatically about this. There were never going to be Republicans flipping on Pres Trump in the House, because their districts are safe. And because their people don't care if he lies, cheats and steals. As long as it is in the service of "taking this country back" from liberal Democratic rule, it's okay.
The partisan left has no ability to see when they are overreaching and need to practice some tough love with their base. Or as Henry Kissinger used to call it, realpolitik.
Impeachment is going nowhere in the Senate. Without subpoenaed witnesses, like Mulvaney, Pompeo, Bolton, etc. and bereft of a strategy, or desire to use the courts to compel their testimony, you really do have to ask the question, "What was the point?"
Now the Dems can run against a president who will crow all day long that he was acquitted, will not debate, and has the strongest economy in our lifetimes at his back.
Hopefully Dems can figure out a way to win the Senate, or as I feared on election day in 2016, SCOTUS, which forced equal rights for minorities on conservatives, protected human rights for decades and has provided a check on racist voting laws, along with the great majority of our judiciary, will be lost for generations.
All I can say is great job leftists.
You forgot about the great majority of your party and dove off the cliff, just as the Tea party crowd did for the once proud GOP.
Retiring Congressman Paul Mitchell of Michigan had it right. He said in a recent NPR interview that there's a group of Dems who believe that Pres Trump is Satan. And there's a group of the GOP who believe that the Dems hate America and want the country to fail. And then he said the most important thing... he said "then there's the rest of us." And no one has our back.
The orange blob can crow all day every day that he was 'acquitted' but most people will recognize this as yet another in a never-ending series of lies he's told. He will be impeached in the House but not removed from the Senate. That's something the Republiscum will have to deal with down the road. I don't think very many people ever thought they'd put country over party. We have decades of them doing the opposite, after all. To do anything but impeach the orange blob would be to just throw our hands up and forget about our Constitutional duty. The Republiscum may want to crap all over the Constitution but I'm very proud that the Democrats are not willing to do that.
Anonymous -- yes, every bit as confident. Your orange stain will be impeached by the House - learn to live with that fact. What the sniveling Republiclowns in the Senate do is on them, but it won't erase the fact that Putin's little butt-boy got impeached.
Dave, do you think the Democrats made their case that Trump committed bribery and extortion trying to get Ukraine to open an investigation into the Bidens?
The witnesses that came before the inquiry committee this and last week were credible, and I have no reason to doubt their testimonies. We know Donald Trump is a liar and a cheat.
I believe Trump broke the law. So, because the Senate will show its allegiance to a party and president and not to the Constitution, the Democrats should have just looked the other way and not make Trump accountable for what he did? Even if the Senate acquits and Trump crows about it, that will not change facts. And we saw facts for two weeks and those facts are clear.
All of this comes down to this question: Are we a nation of laws or men?
Trump will be impeached, acquittal or no, his name will be associated with having been impeached for a crime.
You and I know that we don't always get justice from the courts, and we certainly won't get it from the Republicans in the Senate. But that doesn't mean as a country we should ignore what Trump and Giuliani tried to do.
At this point, I don't care what the Senate does. Justice must be served. What Trump did is a crime. We impeached a president for lying about bj, which was sordid and revolting, but Clinton didn't do to the Constitution what Trump has done and will continue to do unless he's voted out of office.
Why did the GOP think a man who's spent his life cheating, lying, and defrauding people of their money, why would someone with that temperament make a good president. So they could get their judges?
In doing so, they've dirtied themselves and their party forever.
As for those who think "the air is out of the impeachment balloon," don't forget that Trump will go down in history as having been impeached for whatever crimes the impeachment inquiry decides he committed. And there are a lot.
To have anyone crow about not being found guilty by a partisan Senate is no badge of honor. America and the world will know why he wasn't kicked out of office: Cowardly Republicans who put a party and its president over America.
I will never, never believe any sentiment of patriotism any Republican ever utters again.
Carl Bernstein on Friday called out Republican senators’ “amazing” support of Donald Trump, warning the party will be judged for “many, many years” over what its lawmakers do in a possible trial of the president.
“There’s very little interest in the truth by the president’s Republican defenders, which is a really terrible thing given the grievous nature of the president’s corruption, his illegal acts that have now been demonstrably made apparent through the impeachment hearings,” the famed Watergate reporter said on CNN’s “OutFront With Erin Burnett.”

Shame on the GOP!

Looks like the air is out of the impeachment baloon....going to have to beat him at the ballot box.
BlueBall, were you as confident on Thursday evening?
Well gang...

That's about right from where I sit.

Also, Dave, please read Bret Stevens. Hardly a hard lefty. He's what used to be known as a "normal" Republican. Maybe he can convince you why the country needs to impeach Trump.

Ms.Shaw, you are among the 16 people nationwide who care what Carl Burnstein has to say....his train left the station 40 years ago
Hm, the frank TRUTH is that the majority of THINKING Americans (those using the grey matter) AGREE with Carl Bernstein.
Truth is a very hard thing to kill. Even for tRump and his trumpers.
