Thursday, November 5, 2020 -- STILL COUNTING

As of today, the electoral vote count, according to the A/P:

Joe Biden                264

Donald Trump         214

If Nevada goes for Biden, he can win the electoral vote today. We'll know by 1 PM, eastern time.

Meanwhile, the popular vote shows Biden with more votes for him than any other presidential candidate in American history!

And don't forget! On election night, before Trump won the necessary 270 electoral votes to be re-elected and before a majority of the votes were counted, Trump declared himself the winner!

That is exactly what a dictator does! And yet half of my fellow Americans wanted this unworthy man to lead America for another four years!

Because Trumpublicans are anti-democratic thugs:

"Watching armed deputies in Arizona stand between an angry mob and American citizens who are trying to do their jobs and count legitimate votes is one of the more disappointing things I’ve ever seen in this country."

TRUMP'S CONFUSED AND GARBLED THREATS OF LEGAL ACTIONS FOR AND AGAINST VOTE COUNTING:

Republican Joe Scarborough:

“A lot of the president’s steadfast supporters resoundingly pushing back, for good reason, because they understand the consequences of undermining the rule of law.  The president does not understand the consequences of undermining the rule of law and he’s made that perfectly clear over the past four, five years — some would say over the course of his entire adult life.”

“But, in this case, the fact that he’s having such a scattershot approach, where he’s demanding the stopping of counting in states where he’s ahead are — in the case of Michigan, falling behind further by the hour — and then demanding the counts of votes of states where he’s behind, that has legal consequences,” Scarborough added.

“When federal judges see that sort is of scattershot approach, that sort of intellectually incoherent legal argument, then that does have legal consequences for those challenges. That’s why I don’t think anybody that I have spoken with in the legal community sees any merit to any of these claims. So we are a far stretch from the legal challenges of 2000. Right now, there don’t appear to be any that are going to be significant.”

TRUMP AND HIS GOONS ARE PUSHING THE FALSE CLAIM OF FRAUD!

Judges in two states reject Trump campaign lawsuits as the president continues to press unsubstantiated claims of fraud

"President Trump and his allies pressed their claims Thursday that election officials have allowed ballot fraud to infect the counting process in the battleground states poised to decide the presidency, but they offered no evidence of irregularities and met with two immediate defeats in court.

In Georgia, a local judge in Chatham County, home of Savannah, denied the Trump campaign’s effort to disqualify ballots that a Republican poll watcher claimed may have arrived after the 7 p.m. deadline on Election Day. In court, the poll watcher offered no evidence that the ballots had arrived late, and county election officials testified that they had arrived on time."

The problem with going to court for Trump is that judges require actual evidence — not just assertions — to support a claim. But the only available evidence of wrongdoing appears to be the USPS’ massive failure to deliver properly mailed ballots to Democratic-leaning polls.

I hope Judge Sullivan hauls DeJoy into court to explain the USPS's role in this!

Paula, If the Republican legislature in PA had not obstructed efforts to fast-track the counting process and open mail-in ballots before Nov 3 then none of this chaos would be happening. But that's why they did it - to create chaos & lay the groundwork for Trump's phony legal action.

Let's be clear: The ongoing vote count in the key state of Pennsylvania is a result of the rules set by the GOP state legislature which refused to allow mail in, or absentee, ballots to be processed prior to election day. More than 2.5 million voters returned absentee ballots.

Absolutely! The failure of PA to complete results on Election Day is due to:

1. The GOP law that prohibited counting any mail-in ballots until election day, and

2. Trump hiring huge donor Dejoy as postmaster general to slow down the mail so it wouldn't arrive by election day.

Hey Shaw, here's your resident troll whining again:

Trump will lose and it is all his fault. The results will be broadcast when the democrats have determined the results will be in their favor. The democrats will sing how great they are beating the most hated president in history and all they had was six of the largest news networks campaigning for them and castigating trump.

Nevada should go for Biden as most of the votes left to count are in Clark County, a Democratic stronghold.

I'd be worried about Arizona though. Trump, with the help of the Latino vote is doing very well in the remaining votes. But, Biden looks strong in Pennsylvania, whicj would negate a need for either NV or AZ...

If we just count the votes, we'll know soon.

Paula... best point I've seen so far. The law needs actual evidence, not just assertions, or hopes, dreams or conspiracy theories.

Report:

Deutsche Bank, the German multinational investment bank that Donald Trump owes hundreds of millions of dollars to, is planning to demand immediate payment of the loans after the election, according to Reuters. They want to sell the loans, but the report claims it is unlikely that anyone will buy Trump's debt.

In meetings in recent months, a Deutsche Bank management committee that oversees reputational and other risks for the lender in the Americas region has discussed ways in which it could rid the bank of these last vestiges of the relationship, two of the three bank officials said. The bank has over the years lent Trump more than $2 billion, one of the officials said.

One idea that has come up in the meetings: sell the loans in the secondary market, two of the bank officials said. But one of the officials said that idea has not gained traction, in part because it is not clear who would want to buy the loans and the attendant problems that come with it.

It's not about getting repaid—Trump hasn't missed a payment. The bank fears an investigation into its sketchy dealings with him going back decades, and wants them put to bed before Elizabeth Warren kicks the door in.

Dotard has announced that he has won PA. As per an email I just received, "Dervish, We have won Pennsylvania. As our campaign manager, Bill Stepien, said, 'This is not based on gut or a feeling… This is based on math, which showed a clear, distinct pathway for the President and Vice President'".

"Pathway" equals "win"... apparently. Even though in PA, "there is every indication that Mr. Biden remains on track to pull ahead when all of the votes are in and counted". That is according to the NYT (11/5/2020. Updated 1:52pm ET).

btw, I don't know if Elizabeth Warren is going to "kick the door in" re a potential investigation into Deutsche Bank. Apparently McConnell says there is no way Warren is going to be a part of the Biden cabinet. And (unless there is some kind of a miracle) the Dems are still going to be in the minority in the Senate.

Seen on a Trump blog:

TOTAL JERK “ERIC FOX NEWS SHAUN” talking from PA….”Trump is saying Republicans can’t watch voting…but THEY CAN..I see them there. .I’ve seen it all day!…This conflicts completely with the Trump claims”

Meanwhile, the Rep canvasser is saying it’s still 25′ “and we can’t see anything”….

“They won’t allow legal observers” …say the Reps….ERIC SAYS “That is NOT TRUE…there ARE observers in there now.”

Thanks, Eric the JERK LEPRAUCHAN SHAUN…we need FOX to screw Republicans, too! Thanks!

Anonymous @5:50,

Funny, but not really.

We're still faced with the fact that half the nation voted for Trump. Why? It' simplistic to trace all those votes back to racism and economics, so why did so many Americans vote for Trump a second time?

My opinion is: For them to "own the libs and make them cry."

That's all they stand for now, sheer hatred of us. They consume right wing media constantly telling them that libs and "DemocRATS" are the enemy out to get them. I've read that on countless far right blogs -- Communists, Satanists, cannibals -- check out the usual suspect right wing bloggers.

Fox News encourages their hate 24/7, right wing radio has been demonizing Dems for over 30 years. They hate us more than they love anything. Even their own health and lives, they're doing a great job of infecting themselves (and others) with Covid out of sheer spite. 100,000 new cases just yesterday and no end in sight.

I'm afraid President Obama's fantasy of no red states, no blue states, just The United States is just that, a fantasy. Go read their blogs and understand how far apart we are as a nation.
