I'm going to go out on a limb and say this... few if any white evangelical leaders will have any problem with this. And as such, they will have no real idea why their churches are struggling to see new people decide to live self sacrificially for others as Jesus did.
This is a great case of followers choosing to excuse any behavior from their standard bearer out of fear of the repercussions.
I think there's a word for that, but I can't quite recall it right now.
