And they will be one day again. After Trump is forced from the stage, or dragged kicking and screaming to jail.
And then the Dems will find themselves in the wilderness.
They are only close in this election because the GOP candidate is so horrible. They could have ran a card board cut out and won handily, but chose Trump.
Why is beyond me, but Dems should heed the warning signs and get to work on a new national strategy to win over Americans, or 2028 will be a blood bath.

Massachusetts, the most educated state in America, and among the best states for quality of life issues, has had more Republican governors than Democrats -- which is a good thing, since our state legislature is majority Democrats, and one-party rule for years and years is not a good thing.
At one point, Republican Governor Charlie Baker was the most popular governor in the country with a whopping 80% approval rating in a blue, blue state. Pre-MAGA, and the Trump sickness in the GOP, that party would have BEGGED him to run as POTUS with those approval numbers, and, IMO, Baker would have won!
The GOP lost its decency to an indecent, criminal, Trump. That stench will follow the Republican Party for decades to come.
What i fail to understand is this, Trump and his loyal deluded cultists piss and moan about how bad America is. A failing nation. Nothing is good, wholesomenes.
Democrats are not the ones whining incessantly about how the USA is a failed nation. That is reserved for Trump and his deluded loyal cultists.
So, the question is, Trump and cultists, since the USA is so damn bad and failing why the hell don't the lot of you move to Russis or North Korea where you would probably be much happier.

Nevada over the years has had a wonderful mix of Dem and GOP Governors.
Back in the day before he became a beloved GOP Senator, Paul Laxalt was here the Mike Callahan, a Dem. During the Obama Admin, the gov was a GOP guy, Brian Sandoval. He was on the short list for SCOTUS of, wait for it, Obama before he took GOP recommended Garland.
Shaw, as you noted in MA, it was the same in Nevada. We have seldom had one party rule, preferring instead a check on runaway power.
We shall see how it goes now. We do have a GOP guy who likes Trump, but he tempers that because both houses here are Dem super majorities.

So, in the end, Reagan and Bush were proved right. We closed the safety valve, or made access to it illegal and like the middle east, that high unemployment blew, harming both Mexico and us.
I'd like to hear what our more MAGA folks think of the statements of both Bush and Reagan. Were those guys hopeless RINOs or clueless hacks, or might they have been onto something?
Rev, The biggest issue with the illegals is we do not have the capability to track and house them. When Reagan and Bush made their statements we were not over run at the border with thousands a week that are not processed in and just stormed the gate. Regan was for recognizing our mutual problem and make it possible to have work permits allowing them to enter and leave, paying taxes and having their kids educated.
He was mostly speaking about Mexican's because people from further south were not many in number. Neither side has shown competence in dealing with the border and allowing the chaos we have now to continue is not good for anyone.
Instead of a worthless stop gap bill that has been proposed we need to have a comprehensive immigration policy that takes into account the needs of the US and Mexico and protection for the people entering legally. The last three administrations have not cared about fixing the problem because it was politically advantages for them to stick to their views and blame the other side.
Fixing the problem will take someone with intelligence and courage to take a stand for what is right so that leaves out all politicians. DACA was a push it down the road program and the last comprehensive bill was during the Reagan administration. Bush tried but was stopped by his own party. Politicians should not be allowed to make the laws because they seldom do anything that benefits the country just enriches them.
Why not have Mexicans remain in Mexico until they are properly processed?
Why not streamline the system so it doesn't take years?.
Why not stop claiming that the Earth belongs to anyone?
Or, as has been the norm, continue to live the deluded dualistic lives our ego's are so attached to. The lives so reponponsible for All the worldly problems and sufferings we face daily.
Or, instead, as is likely to be, just double down on delusion and ego emotions and continue on as has been practice?
My bet? ... the latter.
