Tire Gauge Joke Is on GOP, Not Obama
(Newser) – Republicans are laughing at Barack Obama’s suggestion that if Americans drove on properly inflated tires and had their vehicles tuned up regularly, they could save as much gas as offshore drilling would produce. The RNC is distributing tire gauges labeled “Barack Obama’s Energy Plan” and cackling with glee. There’s just one problem, writes Michael Grunwald of Time: Obama’s right.
Offshore drilling would produce 200,000 barrels per day by 2030, the Bush administration says. That’s roughly 1% of what we already use. Efficiency experts say proper tire inflation can improve mileage 3%, regular maintenance another 4%. "It's a pretty simple concept," Grunwald argues: "If our use of fossil fuels is increasing our reliance on Middle Eastern dictators while destroying the planet, maybe we ought to use less."

The great thing about these estimates is that they're just estimates. I surspect that, if we were able to get real numbers, they'd look very much not like the stats you're quoting. I could probably find stats that would counter yours, but I'm going to go with my instincts.
Of course those instincts keep leading me back here, so....
However, with the idiot voter out there, do you think they're going to believe Time magazine (they still publish that?) or someone who gives them a tire gauge and tells them Obama wants to lower their oil with it.
Republicans love to laugh at facts that prove to be inconvenient.
And conservatives like to laugh when they find out that liberals know they're losing the argument.
The fact is that there are simple solutions to problems like oil prices, and Barry doesn't seem to have them. Thus the laughter.
