Beck is a local boy from Mt. Vernon and hour or so north of Seattle.

And from his early years in radio he displayed that combination of ADD, aggressiveness and half-wittedness which have been the basis for the huge success he enjoys in his work as Top40 DJ. I'm sorry, political pundit.

To be fair he did graduate high school. But it can't have been easy.

Arthurstone,

I do so enjoy your pithy, incisive take on these rightwing characters.

I lived in Florida for a time, and first heard him on some local station while I was there.

My opinion of him was that he was a sapheaded loudmouth whose career would be limited to his fellow simpletons who listened to him.

Little did I realize how readily and enthusiastically the conservative right would embrace him and his fake theatrics.

Why, Steven Colbert, do you hold back and go lightly on this duffus?

That was awesome.

How can anyone take Beck seriously?

E.g. I saw him rip the movie "Happy Feet" because of its "liberal" message...

As long as there is the Fox noise channel he will have a job.
