NEWT GINGRICH IN HIS OWN [horrendous] WORDS

"1978 In an address to College Republicans before he was elected to the House, Gingrich says: "I think one of the great problems we have in the Republican party is that we don't encourage you to be nasty. We encourage you to be neat, obedient, and loyal and faithful and all those Boy Scout words." He added, "Richard Nixon…Gerald Ford…They have done a terrible job, a pathetic job. In my lifetime, in my lifetime—I was born in 1943—we have not had a competent national Republican leader. Not ever."

1985 Gingrich calls Reagan's upcoming meeting with Mikhail  Gorbachev ''the most dangerous summit for the West since Adolf Hitler met with Chamberlain in 1938 at Munich.''

1985 He's got the world in the palm of his hand: "I have an enormous personal ambition. I want to shift the entire planet…I just had breakfast with [administration officials Richard] Darman and [David] Stockman because I'm unavoidable. I represent real power."v ''the most dangerous summit for the West since Adolf Hitler met with Chamberlain in 1938 at Munich.''

1989 He explains to the Washington Post why he fights with his second wife, Marianne: "It's not even that it matters to me. It's just the habit of dominance, the habit of being the center of my staff and the center of the news media." Newt gives the marriage a "53–47" shot of surviving.

1989 After taking down Speaker Jim Wright (D-Texas) by filing a string of ethics charges, Gingrich basks in his role as giant-killer. "If you're not in the Washington Post every day," he says, "you might as well not exist."

1990 Gingrich's political action committee, GOPAC, sends out a memo titled "Language: A Key Mechanism of Control" to several thousand Republican candidates running for state and local offices. It includes a list of words they should use to describe Democrats:

decay, failure (fail) collapse(ing) deeper, crisis, urgent(cy), destructive, destroy, sick, pathetic, lie, liberal, they/them, unionized bureaucracy, "compassion" is not enough, betray, consequences, limit(s), shallow, traitors, sensationalists, endanger, coercion, hypocricy, radical, threaten, devour, waste, corruption, incompetent, permissive attitude, destructive, impose, self-serving, greed, ideological, insecure, anti-(issue): flag, family, child, jobs; pessimistic, excuses, intolerant, stagnation, welfare, corrupt, selfish, insensitive, status quo, mandate(s) taxes, spend (ing) shame, disgrace, punish (poor...) bizarre, cynicism, cheat, steal, abuse of power, machine, bosses, obsolete, criminal rights, red tape, patronage.

1995 Following the House GOP's triumphant 1994 election victory, Gingrich sends all the Republican freshman House members copies of the GOPAC memo suggesting they refer to their opponents as "traitors."

1998 Gingrich steps down as Speaker, amid ethics complaints and rumors of an extramarital affair. He frames his decision in pragmatic terms: "I'm willing to lead, but I'm not willing to preside over people who are cannibals."

1998 Gingrich divorces Marianne. A later Esquire profile offers a glimpse of the last days, from Marianne's point of view:

Gingrich just kept saying she was a Jaguar and all he wanted was a Chevrolet. "'I can't handle a Jaguar right now.' He said that many times. 'All I want is a Chevrolet.'"

2007 "We should replace bilingual education with immersion in English so people learn the common language of the country and they learn the language of prosperity, not the language of living in a ghetto." Two years later, Gingrich unveils a new Spanish-language website, The Americano.

2008 Gingrich tells Bill O'Reilly that "there is a gay and secular fascism in this country that wants to impose its will on the rest of us." The gay and secular fascist movement, Gingrich charges, is "prepared to use violence, to use harassment. I think it is prepared to use the government if it can get control of it."

2010 A year after writing a book about noted anti-colonialist George Washington, Gingrich suggests that the current president holds a radical, anti-British worldview of his own. "What if [Obama] is so outside our comprehension, that only if you understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior, can you begin to piece together [his actions]?" Gingrich asks. "That is the most accurate, predictive model for his behavior."

2011 Gingrich tells the Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody that he was driven to his cheat on his previous two wives because of his one true love: America. "There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate."

2011 Secular-socialists give way to atheist-Islamists: "I am convinced that if we do not decisively win the struggle over the nature of America, by the time [his grandchildren are] my age they will be in a secular atheist country, potentially one dominated by radical Islamists and with no understanding of what it once meant to be an American."

There is more at the Mother Jones link.

This flip-flopping, out-of-control, thrice married extremist wants to be the next president of the United States of America?

(Also, I wonder if wifey #3 enjoys being his Chevrolet?)

BTW:  Newt Gingrich will NEVER be president.

I am disappointed in American citizens who have no interest in the truth and somehow seem to forget what a loud mouth political whore says; Newt, Donald and all the others making a living off hate and pandering for political office. This happens in every state it seeems and the stupidity gets people who don't represent us but use us.

Give Newt this: He is massively unaware of what a colossal joke his candidacy is. This guy is running on Republican moral values?

Can you imagine him as the leader of the free world labeling anyone who disagrees with him a Nazi?

I know politicians are supposed to have big egos, but Newt's seems to have one that is bigger than his big white head. LOL!

Newt should take a hint and form his own party: No, not the Whigs, but the Whips & Chains Party. Can you imagine having Caligula or the Marquis de Sade in the White House?

(BTW, for those who don't know, Gingrich has a gay sister who has spoken out against his hatred of gays. 'Pathological' doesn't even begin to sum him up.)

Let's hope he gets newtered in the primaries...

It shows you how far the republican party has fallen when a person like Newt thinks he has a chance at being president. Oh wait! Maybe it is just about getting a lot of people to donate money to him. What do you want to bet that he takes the money and runs...away.

Whowzers!!! great work. seriously.

...but you missed a strong, telling point about Gingrich.... he is a Muslim extremist...
from Wikipedia: "Newt is an amphibian of the Salamandridae family"

... and everyone knows the Salamandridae family live right next door to the bin Ladens!!!!!!

I'm not fan of Gingrich and didn't want him to run but feared he would.

However, I'll bet we could make a list like that on just about every politician. None of them have shining halos and all have said stupid things, flip-flopped on issues and have done at least one thing they aren’t too darn proud of.

But few have done it as much or as often as Newt. We are not talking about a one time digression. And how many have had to step down as Speaker of the House and still think the public is stupid enough to elect them as president?

More Gingrich in his own words (as of today): "Either I'd run for president or I'd be a fraud." In predicate logic, only one statement can true; in the real world, both can be true.

Mr. Gingrich’s Intolerant History

Newt Gingrich, the former House speaker and latest entrant in the Republican presidential field, has money, experience and name recognition. His introductory video is all serenity and hope, a deceptively calm way for many voters to meet a splenetic politician with a long history of slashing divisiveness and intolerance.

He refers to himself as a historian, but apparently his personal study of history has primarily taught him about the effectiveness of demagogy. Donald Trump, fiddling with birth certificates, is an amateur compared with Mr. Gingrich at sliming the Obama administration — as well as Democrats, Muslims, blacks and gay men and lesbians.

The Democrats who won in 2008, including President Obama, are “left-wing radicals” who lead a “secular socialist machine,” he wrote in his 2010 book, “To Save America.” He accused them of producing “the greatest political corruption ever seen in modern America.” And then the inevitable historical coup de grĂ¢ce: “The secular-socialist machine represents as great a threat to America as Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union once did.”

The slurs don’t stop there. He compared the Muslims who wanted to open an Islamic center in Lower Manhattan to the German Reich, saying it “would be like putting a Nazi sign next to the Holocaust Museum.” He is promoting the fringe idea that “jihadis” are intent on imposing Islamic law on every American village and farm.

Last year, he called for a federal law to stop the (nonexistent) onslaught of Sharia on American jurisprudence and accused the left of refusing to acknowledge its “mortal threat to the survival of freedom in the United States and in the world as we know it.” This nuanced grasp of world affairs was reinforced when he said that Mr. Obama displayed “Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior.”

In his world, advocates for gay rights are imposing a “gay and secular fascism” using violence and harassment, blacks have little entrepreneurial tradition, and Justice Sonia Sotomayor of the Supreme Court is a “Latina woman racist.” (He kind of took back that last slur.)

Despite all this, not to mention the ethics violation when he was speaker, Mr. Gingrich’s real liability among the conservative and fundamentalist groups that dominate the Republican primaries is his personal history of infidelity that led to two sordid divorces. (Much of which took place while he was denouncing President Bill Clinton for moral transgressions.) That may explain his endless calls to restore Judeo-Christian values.

It is sometimes difficult to know what some Republican candidates stand for, as they pander to the far right without alienating the center. It is not difficult to know what Newt Gingrich stands for, and to find it repellent.

Whether it's Newt or one of the other GOP Yahoos currently running or thinking of running for president, it won't make any difference. Barring the unforeseen, Obama will trounce them. Collectively, they cannot measure up to his brains or his class.

Blogger gave me back my Newt post, but it kept the comments that were there. Oh well.

Ron Paul is running? He'll be older than Reagan was when he ran.

Plus, Ron Paul does not accept evolution as fact. Can anyone believe that? He's a doctor for goatsake! Did he flunk biology?

Newt will NEVER be president. NEVER.

I'm sorry, wait, no, I'm not sorry, but someone who was forced to step down as third in line to president because of ethics and still can't get his shit straight after over a decade is not presidential material. It's not going to happen Newt. People, please invest your money elsewhere, like back into our economy to get us out of this recession. Make jobs, not slobs ie. Newt Gingrich.

Newt's got a book to sell. What better way to get the word out to the nuts that will buy it, you know, the republican party base of bigots, religious zealots, idiots and homophobes, than by running for president.

Obama's got this. No serious Republicans are left. They are all crackpots.

"Ron Paul is running? He'll be older than Reagan was when he ran."

Well, there's plenty to criticize Ron Paul on, but you chose something which doesn't really matter, with this one.

I'd also never vote for him for that atrocious thing where he said it was OK for states to bully people into buying health insurance whether or not they need it. Hmmm... the jackboots fit you well, Newt.
