FAMOUS AND POWERFUL
Some right wing bloggers squeal long and loud about what an out-of-control ego Mr. Obama has, what a narcissist he is, and that he thinks he's the king of the world.
But this is what someone who actually thinks like that says in a moment of honesty about the fact that he "desired" to be famous and powerful, but doesn't anymore [don't tell the GOPers, they'll just say that Bush isn't the president!]:
"Eight years was awesome, and I was famous and I was powerful. But I have no desire for fame and power anymore," he said in a new interview with the Hoover Institute's Peter Robinson.

Mr Bush,
Answer the following questions:
1. At what point does a USA government official become 'above the law' (national and international)?
2. Does being 'above the law' extend to only USA President/Vice President?
3. Are Secretarial Department heads also 'above the law?' How far down the chain of command does being above the law extend?
4. Do you feel free to travel outside of USA and expect to be immune to prosecution?
5. When arrested overseas, do 'above the law' USA government officials have the right to use international law in their defense?
6. Is it naive to believe the RepublicanT Party will extend the 'above the law' immunity to Mr Obama and Mr Biden after they leave office?

we're not supposed to talk about Dubya...the republicans want to pretend he was never in office for 8 years...and everything bad that happened in 2009 was all obama's fault...remember...bush isn't president...it's all obama's fault..what an indictment of what a lousy job republicans do when they're in office...
From the linked article:
"Bush said that he has looked to his father, George H.W. Bush, as a model for how to act as an ex-president.
"I thought long and hard about that and decided that not being on the stage was something I was comfortable with," he said. "Peter, there's really no sacrifice in serving the country, particularly if you love the country like I do. But if there is one, it's loss of anonymity. And as best as I can, I'm trying to regain it."
Bush said that he also believed it was "bad" for the presidency to "have former presidents bloviating, opining and telling people how it ought to be done."
Unlike Clinton Bush has kept a low profile and he has not spoke out in anyway to undermine President Obama.
Anyone reading the entire comment and listening to the full interview as I did comes away respecting the fact that Bush understands "he had is time in the sun" and now it is another turn. All leaders are leaders partial because they desire power.
It is time for the bloviating pundits to discuss Obama and Romney. Bush is gone and won't be back. Obama - Romney, take your pick support ore and or hammer the other. Fair game.
We all already know GWB was not, with all said and done a very good president.
To take what a former president said, quote it in such a manner as to disparage and indeed misrepresent his intent and use it as a shot at the party he represented is well...
A cheap shot. It's just my opinion but it is true. It is a cheap shot at GWB, who in his silence and steadfastness in not criticizing the President or inserting himself in the national or international spotlight (as the Peanut President has done) is admirable and ought to be commended.
But of course some liberal do have a nefarious agenda. Don't they?
Ema,
1. Never
2. No such thing as above the law
3. No
4. Why wouldn't he
5. No
6. Yes
You were referring to Holder weren't you as acting above the law. I don't think he should have immunity for his gun running.
Whatever is written about GWB should include, he saved America from ALGORE and he acted with respect for the office by staying out of the limelight, unlike Clinton and JC.
But it's ok ( not a cheap shot) to misquote a CURRENT president and make people believe he meant businesspeople did not build their own business.
We haven't heard from Bush, because Republicans don't want him talking.
Republicans don't want their last president (left office only 3-1/2 years ago) to campaign with them.
Bush is an embarrassment to the Republican party, or they would certainly use him.
Anon,
You seem to forget that Reagan and GHB stayed out of the spotlight as well. It takes Clinton and JC to make a spectacle of them selves.
Do you suppose Obama changed the welfare rules to put more people on Welfare and take them off the looking for work rolls so unemployment would decrease? Wonder what he is hiding now.
Of course Obama meant to attack small business owners. Most small businesses are middle class and non-union so they are not in the democrat's hip pocked for votes but they are in Obama's sights for taxes, the "rich" and Obamacare.
RN: "A cheap shot."
You know RN, I'd respect your opinion more if you were just as diligent in critisizing, say SF's, cheap shot at President Obama--y'know, where he calls him "Il Douchebag," as a play on the dictator "Il Duce."
Or SF's pal, Free Thinke, whose newest post calls the White House a "latrine."
All I've done here is posted Mr. Bush's own words. I haven't called him disgusting names. But you feel it is your duty to come running here and point out that quoting exactly what Bush said is a "cheap shot."
Next time, I'll call him or some other GOPer a rancid name, that way, you'll be sure to ignore my post.
As usual, skudrunner has ignored all the links I gave in previous comments that prove Mr. Obama has done more for small business owners than skudrunner wants to know.
Your comment is a lie.
Skud,
Right, Clinton just loved to pal for Obama, especially since Obama just beat his wife out for the nomination. I guessed you missed the stories about Democrats not wanting Clinton to pal for Obama, because they could not trust what Clinton would say.
Right, Obama hates small business, I guess that's why he just increased the SBA's budget by 100's of millions of dollars. Something the Republican leaders said they would not sign onto.
Reagan made appearances for Bush(I) and certainly made a more formal endorsement of Bush, than Bush has for Romney
Shaw, you've obviously missed the point. But that's okay. And what you took from the entire piece was in fact selected to shed a negative light on a prior president. Something the full text does not do.
Did I support the Latrine comment or the ll Douchebag comment? Or many worse I have seen on the net? The answer is no. I simply ignore them. They add nothing. It is the content, rather than the personal slurs that matter.
In my view GWB ought to be respected for the way he has handled himself since being out of office. His silence has indeed been kind to a President who is certainly not the best. Nor the worst.
But hey, each to his own. As some become less partisan and more pragmatic they receive great criticism. On the other hand those who become mare partisan receive great accolades. I call that divisive rather than unifying.
So which crowd are you in Shaw?
To correct the record, I called him "Il Douche."
Obama's derisive language, mocking people for clinging to their guns and their Bibles, and marxist resentment tirades like this weekend shows him to be a very small man, beneath the dignity of the office he holds.
He is a sneering, petty pol. I treat him with the same respect with which he treats us.
Anon,
Your rant made no sense. All I said is that Clinton and Carter cannot retire with any dignity. Clinton still thinks people care what he says and Carter is so senile he doesn't know where he is. There is no issue with a past president campaigning for the current candidate and who can blame anyone for not wanting GW's support. After all the liberals have convinces the entire country that all of Obama's many failures are Bush's fault.
Your comment about the SBA loans is confirmation to what Obama said about all those incompetent small business owners, it is the government who made you what you are. They are just not very great full and probably greedy as well. Obama has done a great deal for small businesses. Trying to raise their taxes and taxing their middle class workers with Obamacare.
Face it, he is big business and of course Hollywood, all the way because they can fund his campaign. All it cost him is a ride in His jet, Bon Jovi says thanks.
Obama should never be without his teleprompter because he has a habit of speaking how he feels instead of his handlers telling him how he feels.
SF, pardonnez-moi for mistakenly writing that you called President Obama "Il Douchebag." Calling him "Il Douche," apparently, in your circle of deep-thinking intellectuals, is FAR more respectful.
SF: "He is a sneering, petty pol. I treat him with the same respect with which he treats us."
"US?"
President Obama does not treat "us" with respect?
Aw.
But monsieur, it is YOU and YOUR group of professional malcontents who are carrying the little pouch of victimization in your sweaty, throbbing hands.
At least half of the country disagrees with your perception, so your egregiously inaccurate statement is hardly worth all that angst.
As for sneering and pettiness?
Mon petit courgette, you really ought to be more self-aware when you make accusations about others like that--especially when we all recognize that it is you who wear the Gold Medal of Sneering and Pettiness so patriotically around your manly neck. There is no reason to award it to others when you work so hard for it yourself.
sf calling obama a douche?
his blog is a breitbarf wannabe pile of swill...why do you waste your time on small stsuff like him?
No victimization, Shaw. I call 'em like I see 'em.
And no apology necessary. I actually considered "Il Douchebag" but figured it was over the top.
Ema: Your questions refer to laws that were never violated and crimes that were never committed. So, basically, they are stupid questions, sorry.
