MRS. OBAMA SHOWS MR. ROMNEY HOW DIPLOMACY IS DONE
via Politicususa
"As if things weren’t bad enough for “Mitt the Twit” as he was dubbed by The Sun, The London Evening Standard ran an article entitled, “London 2012 Olympics: Are you watching Mitt? Michelle Obama gives a fun masterclass in diplomacy”.
Beneath the image, they write: “She’s a winner: Michelle Obama raises her arms in delight as David Beckham applauds during a football game with children as part of the Let’s Move-London event at Winfield”
With Mitt Romney being compared unfavorably to Sarah Palin by the Daily Mail and insiders who met Mitt, and #RomneyShambles still trending on twitter (day 2) in acknowledgment of his epic fail, and Gold medalist Carl Lewis saying Mitt should go home if he doesn’t know what to say, Romney must be embarrassed – or rather, he would be embarrassed if he had any real relationship to other people’s reactions – by Michelle Obama’s ease, grace, and genuine enthusiasm for her role leading the U.S. Olympic delegations.
The British love her.
Michelle Obama won hearts and minds with her good attitude and fun spirit.
Mrs Obama joined a sports carnival for about 1,000 US military children and underprivileged children from London neighborhoods on the lawn of Winfield House. She told the children, “The stories of these athletes remind us that being an Olympian is not just about winning a gold or setting a record. It’s about pushing yourself and believing in yourself and refusing to give up. No matter what obstacles you face, keep pushing.”
The Evening Standard called our First Lady a smashing success, “As a lesson in good natured statesmanship – if not to say simple manners – it was a masterclass.” They continued, “For Michelle Obama cast aside stuffy protocol to join in the fun and games to celebrate today’s opening of the Olympic games with more than 1,000 children.”
This suggests that it’s not about the diplomatic gaffes, but rather about the intention of the person. People appreciate Michelle Obama’s sincerity and engagement, whereas about Romney they said, “Mitt Romney is perhaps the only politician who could start a trip that was supposed to be a charm offensive by being utterly devoid of charm and mildly offensive.”
Now all we have to do sit back and wait for the outraged, anti-Obama malcontents to come here and explain to us how awful all of this positive goodwill for America, generated by First Lady Michelle Obama, is for our country.
One, two, three...
Check out these great photos of the First Lady interacting with the athletes and their families.

Indeed the First Lady was impressive. The words class act come to mind.
RomneyCertainly not so much. The words wooden soldier come to mind.
Perhaps now everyone will get back to focusing on resolving serious problems still facing the economy.
Mood does matter. Does anyone really want four years of Mitt's public-relations carnage when they could have this?
I hope Michelle sticks around after 2016 -- the wife of the last Democratic President went on to become a major figure in her own right, after all.
I think I agree.
Michelle would certainly give more luster and less bluster than her hubby that's for sure.
She quite likely would do as well if not better than Hillary if she chooses to stick around in politics.
I'm just not sure Michelle actually has the "killer" instinct the Clinton's had (have)>
she's always been a class act...obviously very much liked...
Maybe we should get away from "killer instinct" it only leads to a politician being bought, instead of championing causes the people want and need.
Yeah, you're probably right. But think about it, if ya want something in the best benefit of "the people" maybe there is no other way. You just have to knock the opposing sides views out.
Or maybe we could change the terminology to be more politically correct and "sensitive."
We could say we are exchanging fluffer nutter sandwiches and the side (view) collecting the most "fluffer nutters" wins the day. :)
Michelle is an "Alpha". It's palpable. She is going to have a big second or third career.
Apparently to counter Romney's making a fool of himself and liberals having fun with that; surfing the Republiscum blogs today, they are attacking Mrs. Obama again.
You have heard it before:
She's a fat ass.
Don't force your diet recommendations on us, which of course, is not true, and no different than Nancy Reagan saying, "Just say no to drugs." Just good advice.
They criticized her appearance at the Olympics, and then went into the dark by calling her the first Wookie, and declaring she was destroying America, just as her husband.
They bashed her for writing a book about her dog, like there's some difference from the Bush's writing a book about their dog.
Anyways, just felt like venting against all their unfounded hate.
Mrs. Obama is a smart, classy, beautiful, woman and a GREAT first lady.
Her patience with those who spew hate against her, is not a virtue I have.
She's smart enough not to get into the pig sty her detractors do.
S,
I don't think Mrs Obama reads the same comments that you do. And if she did I am confident they would not bother her. If you follow her lead and ignore hurtful comments it will support your good health and this blogs good health.
Thanks KP,
Be sure and pass on that advice to SF and RN.
Laura Bush, an elegant woman with a winning personality, promoted reading.
She didn't force anyone to read.
Mrs. Obama promotes that kids move and eat healthy.
What's the problem?
None whatsoever...
Nothing wrong with healthy eating! How's the running coming along Shaw?
KP, I took your advice to heart, and I get out every day for consistency. I don't always do a long walk/run, but I do get out and move. The really hot days with high humidity have been tough, but I move.
That was very good advice, because I'm out there doing something every day.
It's a mental thing.
RN says he's not partisan, but look at what he writes on his favorite conservative blogs.
"Rational Nation USA said...
'The arrogance of the left has no equal.' "
RN is a suck-up partisan conservative who pretends he's not for the GOP. But everything he posts contradicts what he says.
He has never, never posted a slam on the conservatives like the one above.
Why should anyone believe him on anything.
He's a partisan hack.
Take anything out of context and you can twist it however.
And yes I've slammed conservatives as well.
What I find most interesting Anon is your fixation on me. I know I'm doing something very right and proper.
LOLAY.
That's it! Each day we make it a point to get out and move.
Some days will be higher quality and other days will not be as good. When we are refreshed and energized from a good night's sleep those days are better than if we are tired.
Baselines and benchmarks will change over time. With consistency our best will become better than it used to be.
Rock On!
@Shaw ... You are right about the heat and humidity. On a very hot and humid day, there is literally less oxygen available to breathe. At 90-100 degrees it is nearly the same as being at the altitude of Denver or higher. One can expect performance (power, pace) to be decreased by as much as 10%. That may even result increased hematocrit or oxygen carry capacity which we see in responders at altitude. Hydration is critical.
KP, I remember years ago running a 10K in a small town in central Mass. on July 4th. It was a hot and humid day, and the organizers of the race made the starting time at 12 noon! That was the most difficult race I've ever run. But I came in #3 for the women.
I literally collapsed at the end of the race, but plenty of fluids later I was fine.
But that was when I was younger.
No chance I'll ever do that again.
Michelle rocks!
