General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

Get out your umbrellas!

I was sure that once the stats on the DNC convention came out and were compared to the RNC convention stats it would happen.

I thought that once the pollsters' reports on bumps and grinds from the conventions were reported, it would happen.

I saw the deluge coming when I read these reports.

The chart below shows why the level of invective by the opposition is rising (via Andrew Sullivan's blog).

"What does this mean for the race? It's still too early, but it's beginning to look as if the RNC may have brought down the prospects of the Republican nominee. Here's Gallup's tracking poll of the race in August through to today:"

And wow! was I correct.

This is one example:

"I frankly resent anyone's ever giving Bill Clinton credit for doing anything well.

I instinctively despised him the moment he first appeared in the scene -- long before he ran for president. I could see him for the cheap, baseborn, huckster with a glib line of patter that he was -- and remains.

I took one look at him, hs doughy, pasty-white physique, and his squinty, shifty eyes, and listened to his low-class, mush-mouthed Arkansas cracker drawl, and saw TRAILER TRASH -- SNAKE OIL SALESMAN -- CHARLATAN...
[skip]

That he continues to receive ADULATION and is (so we are told!) more popular than ever, speaks volumes about the DEGENERATE, UNDESERVING STATE of the AMERICAN ELECTORATE.

Shame on ANYONE who let's this bogus, self-indulgent, virulently immoral excuse for a human being -- an unpunished RAPIST for Christ's sake! -- SEDUCE him into APPLAUDING this MOUNTEBANK."

And this:

"At least Mitt Romney loves America and cares about the people and believes in God and not hate like that loser, Christian hater, Jew Hater, White hater, backstabbing, liar, and crook, Obama."

The level of spittle-flecking hysteria in rightwing blogistan has gone through the roof.  It's not just your average ugly, it's revoltingly ugly, mean-spirited, and seething with resentment and rage.  Whew.

What we heard from the RNC convention's key note speaker, Governor Chris Christie, was emblematic of a party gone postal over the fact that Mr. Romney has not out-shone and out-polled the man they virulently detest and want to crush in this election.  This campaign is not the walk in the government-supported national park they hoped it would be.

We still have the debates to get through, which could change the political landscape a bit, but I don't think they will have a huge impact.  From what I've read, there are very, very few undecideds out there for Mr. Romney to influence.

If I could, I'd send you all umbrellas to protect you from all that rage-filled spittle raining down from the GOP's angry and stormy clouds.

the DEGENERATE, UNDESERVING STATE of the AMERICAN ELECTORATE.

Always watch for which side in an election starts insulting the voters. That's the side that's going to lose, and is starting to realize it's going to lose.

If you think this is bad, just wait until Obama wins. They'll spray so much spittle they'll short out their keyboards. They'll go so apeshit the actual apes will run for cover. We'll be deafened by the exploding heads from coast to coast! Like the poor lady in that photo, we won't need umbrellas, we'll need an ark!

I may need to set that entire Wednesday aside for gloating.

SK: Just FYI, FactCheck and Snopes say that quote is bogus.

Thanks for the heads-up, Infidel753.

I should have known because it was so outrageous even Romney couldn't have stated such a thing. But I didn't do my due diligence and check it out.

Thanks again.

Dominant characteristics of the radical right are anger, resentment and suspicion. The Republican Party attracts bullies the way careless picnickers attract ants.

Decent, sensible people of good will look at a successful black person and their first thought is, this is probably someone with brains and talent who strived to make the best of new and better opportunities, and probably still had to persevere to get past some residual skepticism, at the least, and outright bias at the worst.

Our friends on the political right have a strong tendency to jump to the conclusion a successful black person is the beneficiary of undeserved privileges and unearned credit granted by a meddling government. President Obama, for example.

This tendency is fresh in mind because I just got through with an exchange of comments on the blog of a far-right type on this very topic. He's convinced Obama never properly earned degrees from Columbia and Harvard.

So, it comes as no surprise our far-right counterparts are boiling over and emitting sulfurous fumes because things aren't going their way. When you're steeped in resentment and have long embraced — and succeeded — with an anything-to-win approach, it comes as a "this can't be happening" jolt to learn that approach might not be working any more. I think that's what you're seeing now.

FYI

At their convention, Democrats swore that GM is “thriving,” but the market doesn’t think so: GM shares have lost half their value since January 2011. And while the passing of the Great Recession has meant growing sales for all automakers, GM is seriously lagging behind its competitors: Its sales are up 10 percent, a fraction of the increases at Kia, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Porsche. With its sales weak, its share price crashing, and its business model still a mess, some analysts already are predicting that GM will return to bankruptcy — but not until after the election.

Here's another opinion on that.

SWA: "Dominant characteristics of the radical right are anger, resentment and suspicion. The Republican Party attracts bullies the way careless picnickers attract ants."

You're correct, SWA. With few exceptions, I found those characteristics rampant in the rightwing blogsphere.

My own blog has been assaulted by rightwing bullies and trolls who forced me to go to comment moderation.

And the sick bullies in the rightwing blogsphere continue to copy my name and avatar and make degrading sexual comments about me on other conservative blogs.

This is a perfect example of who they are.

I do not claim all conservatives bloggers are as crazy and eaten up by rage and hate as the trolls who've come here.

But SWA has perfectly described the malaise and sickness that runs through much of conservadom.

I can speak to it because I have a personal experience of it.

So your article agrees there is a great possibility of GM going bankrupt again. The issue is not the quality of their product because it is good, the issue is they cannot sell enough vehicles to sustain their size.

Without government incentives they would shut down the Volt because it has been a failure. It is difficult to make a lot of profit on small cars and Ford has done an exceptional job of gaining share in the SUV and Truck market where there are profits.

Anonymous, the post has nothing to do with GM and its fortunes. (Hijacking in progress!)
