UPDATE BELOW
Keep it classy, Phoenix.
Read about how the rabid racists blame Mr. Obama for dividing the country as they shout slurs at and and show their spittle-flecked hatred of our American president.
But it's Obama's fault that they're such disgustingly, sleazy bigots!
This is the loathsome base of the Republican Party, and it is stomach-turning ugly.
Happily, it will be very, very bad for the party.
Their indignant protestations about the "libtards" seeing racism everywhere where it concerns President Obama is now firmly and forever documented in cyberspace for the world to see and for all to understand that everything we've suspected about their bigotry is ABSOLUTELY AND IRREFUTABLY TRUE.
From TPM:
"As President Barack Obama spoke in Phoenix Tuesday about responsible home ownership, hundreds of people stood outside protesting his policies, many shouting and carrying racially charged chants and signs.
'Bye Bye Black Sheep,' the protestors shouted at one point, a reference to the president's skin color, according to the Arizona Republic.
Another protestor carried a sign that said "Impeach the Half-White Muslim!"
'He’s 47 percent Negro,' one protestor shouted.
'We have gone back so many years,' Judy Burris told the Republic.
'He’s divided all the races. I hate him for that.'
Obama supporters were also rallying outside the high school where the president spoke.
'There’s so much extremism in Arizona,' said Jonathan Rines, a retired member of the U.S. Navy, said of the 'Black Sheep' chant."
(The comments at the linked post on TPM are spot on.)
UPDATE:
Southern senator: "My people dislike Obama because he is too ‘exotic.’ "
"A southern senator said that his constituents disliked Barack Obama because the President seemed 'exotic,' Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) told the editorial board of the Des Moines Register on Wednesday.
The comment from the unnamed senator came during a closed-door meeting about filibuster rules last month.
“And, not naming any names, but one senator got up from a Southern state and said, ‘You’ve got to understand that to my people down here, Obama seems like’ -– he thought for a second and he said -– ‘like he’s exotic,’” Harkin told the Des Moines Register.
'We kind of laughed at that –- what’s that mean? Exotic? That he’s just exotic, that he doesn’t share our values and that kind of thing. It was kind of a strange comment.'
Many conservatives falsely believe Obama was not born in the United States and not a Christian. A Public Policy Polling survey from 2011 found slightly over half of Republican primary voters believed Obama was born outside the United States.
The Pew Research Center found last year that 34 percent of conservative Republicans believed was a Muslim."
But...but...it's not FAIR to call them racist!!!!!

All Republicans are NOT Racists, but most Racists ARE Republicans.
47% Negro?
At least we can laugh to keep from crying.
Racism, a continuing reality. Racism is not political ideology specif. To deny this is naive, partition, or both.
Racists exist in the GOP and Democrats. The GOP just has more.
http://www.libertarianrepublican.net/2013/08/overpass-impeach-obama-protests-not.html
??? Assumption? Republican or Democrat.
Just Sayin, exactly what impeachable offenses has President Obama committed?
Whenever I ask crackpots who promote the "Impeach Obama" nonsense, they have absolutely NO EVIDENCE.
They're full of sound and fury and signify NOTHING. They are nothing.
Sword, can we stop with the "both sides do it?"
It was the conservatives in the south, forget the "Democrat/Republican" labels. It was the CONSERVATIVES in the south who enforced racial discrimination. And it was the CONSERVATIVES in the north who supported discrimination. It's a conservative vs. liberal issue, not Democratic vs. Republican issue. Lincoln Republicans and Northern liberal Democrats were ABOLISIONISTS. Conservative Democrats and Republicans supported the continuation of slavery.
So if there are racist Democrats, you can be sure that they are CONSERVATIVE Democrats.
Ducky, 47% Negro...leave it to the southwestern conservatives to think that piece of crap up.
Conservatives are racists by nature, some do better than other, but basically they fear and hate "the other."
Hodson and Busseri (2012) found in a correlational study that lower intelligence in childhood is predictive of greater racism in adulthood, with this effect being mediated (partially explained) through conservative ideology. They also found poor abstract reasoning skills were related to homophobic attitudes which was mediated through authoritarianism and low levels of intergroup contact.
What this study and those before it suggest is not necessarily that all liberals are geniuses and all conservatives are ignorant. Rather, it makes conclusions based off of averages of groups. The idea is that for those who lack a cognitive ability to grasp complexities of our world, strict-right wing ideologies may be more appealing. Dr. Brian Nosek explained it for the Huffington Post as follows, “ideologies get rid of the messiness and impose a simple solution. So, it may not be surprising that people with less cognitive capacity will be attracted to simplifying ideologies.” For an excellent continuation of this discussion and past studies, please see this article from LiveScience.
Ah, but you failed to understand. Obama's impeachability is not an issue. He has not done anything to be impeached for at this time.
I reread your Headline, I see Republicans. I did not see either Conservative or Democrat.
What am I missing? Beyond this I agree. Drop the R and address the issue.
In all due respect, your closing is stereotypical. And therefor bullshit. Please accept my appology for stinky language.
Dear TSoT,
Sorry. I stand by my assessment of the extremist base of the GOP: They're bigots.
The racist emails and photo shopped images of President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama as gorillas do not come from liberals.
The shoe fits and the GOP wears it.
One of their shining stars, Donald Trump, kept pushing the birther issue all during the last election, and at one time, Trump was leading the rest of the GOP slate for president of the US!
The GOP leadership fails to call a jerk a jerk, and never came out against Trumps stupid racist birtherism.
So it may not be just the extremist base that harbors bigotry.
I stand by my statement.
The conservative Democratic south, remember, voted solidly Democratic until Lyndon Johnson passed the Civil Rights and the Voting Rights Acts, and then the Democratic Party lost the conservative south FOREVER!
Oh, I wonder why!
When the Supreme Court gutted the VRA just recently, the conservative southern and southwestern states fell over themselves in racing to institute vote suppression laws that will greatly impact minoritirs.
Oh, I wonder why.
"Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, the study found. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice ..."
There is also a British study, which I loosely term "the mega-amygdala megalomaniacs," that explains conservative thought as a form of "fight-or-flight" syndrome.
In either case, there is without doubt a segment of the population that prefers its belief systems - both political or religious - shrink-wrapped in church pews and pre-packaged on the nightly news. In any event, the end result is a penchant for self-validation without critical thinking.
GOP: "exotic" = "black"
The assumption that all conservatives are republicans is like saying all democrats are union members. While the assumption has some merit, it is not true. There consists a very good percentage of voters that belong to the TPP (thinking persons party) and vote what they believe not how they are told. A lot of voters are social liberals and fiscal conservatives. While this administration preaches support for the middle class, they do all they can to support big business and wall street ate the expense of small business, which is the middle class.
The idea that if you are against Obama it is because he is black is a huge stretch. Obama has been very beneficial to my business and democrat majority tanking the housing/stock market in 08 helped my portfolio.
My objection to Obama is he is a divider who's only plan is to assign blame for his failures.
New England's elite has a very difficult time understanding the independent South and therefore look at southerners as beneath them.
skudrunner brings a straw man to every discussion:
"The idea that if you are against Obama it is because he is black is a huge stretch."
Neither I, nor anyone else, has ever claimed that. I claim the GOPers who call Mr. Obama "exotic" and who pass around photo shopped images of him and his wife as apes, I claim THEY are racist. And the GOP is FULL of people who fit that particular description.
skudrunner: "Obama has been very beneficial to my business and democrat majority tanking the housing/stock market in 08 helped my portfolio."
Obviously, skud is smoking crack cocain. How else to explain that bit of insanity?
skud: "My objection to Obama is he is a divider who's only plan is to assign blame for his failures."
Keep telling yourself that stupid lie, skud. It was Mr. Obama who reached out time and time again to the opposition only to be rejected and mocked by them. Lying to yourself may make you feel better about the uncomfortable truth, but the FACT is that your delusion is only that.
skud: "New England's elite has a very difficult time understanding the independent South and therefore look at southerners as beneath them."
Pure and utter self-pitying bunk.
The south is not "independent." It is mostly in thrall to those who never accepted the result of the Civil War. While there is much to admire in the south, can you tell us why those states run by the majority Republicans do so poorly that the federal government has to give them back more than what they contribute? It's their own feeling of inadequacy that feed into their self-pity.
The Mississippi and Louisiana have some of the highest out of wedlock birth rates;
And 9 out the 10 poorest states are in the south.
So tell us how well those Republican majority-run states serve their people. Then tell us how those 9 out of 10 poorest southern states feel victimized by New England elites.
BTW, New England "elite" states have among the best educated populations, lowest out of wedlock birth rates, lowest divorce rates, and lowest unemployment rates.
(O)CT(O),
People like skud will claim that pointing out the results of studies on conservative thinking, as you have, just means you're an "elite."
First, a response to Skudrunner,
“The assumption that all conservatives are republicans is like saying all democrats are union members.”
Gee, I really like mixed metaphors, especially the self-serving/self-indulgent kind. It’s as American as killing two birds with one apple pie while grabbing bull crap by the horns.
“My objection to Obama is he is a divider who's [sic] only plan is to assign blame for his failures.”
Logical error: A partisan, and therefore subjective, assertion mistakenly presented as absolute fact. Grammatical error: "whose."
“New England's elite has [sic] a very difficult time understanding the independent South and therefore look at southerners as beneath them.”
An error in stereotyping: I am a Southern Elitist living in a Southern State where I ride a palanquin hoisted upon the shoulders of native bearers who worship me. Grammatical error: You figure it out.
Second, a response to Shaw,
I am an attendant mollusk, a hammed up clam;
To advance progress, eat a crab or two,
Evince a wince, no doubt, or play the fool;
Existential, unessential, easy to confuse;
Full of pretense, a silly catawampous;
At times, indeed, almost ridiculous –
But always your intrepid (O)CT(O)PUS.
Thank you for the clarification, " I stand by my assessment of the EXTREMIST (emphasis mine) base of the GOP: They're bigots."
Agreed. Just pointing out how without clarity statements can and are misconstrued to mean a broader than intended group.
Shaw, there are some racist and very liberal Democrats, like Charlie "Cracker!!!" Rangel and Maxine Waters.
Sorry, dmarks, but the word "Cracker" is not loaded with racial hatred as the word "N***er" is. The "N" word was used to dehumanize and delegitimize an entire race of people for hundreds of years.
The word "cracker" doesn't come close. And attempting to liken the two words as equal is foolish, IMO.
TSoT,
"Just pointing out how without clarity statements can and are misconstrued to mean a broader than intended group."
Perhaps you didn't read my post carefully.
This statement in the beginning of the post was specific about the group I was referring to:
:This is the loathsome base of the Republican Party, and it is stomach-turning ugly."
Yet you say happily it will be bad for the party which implies ALL. Which is it?
TSoT,
You DO know what an antecedent is, don't you?
"This is the loathsome base of the Republican Party, and it is stomach-turning ugly.
Happily, it will be very, very bad for the party."
"...the party." in the second sentence refers to "the Republican Party" in the previous or antecedent sentence.
Sorry that wasn't clear to you.
Yes. Sometimes it is what is between the lines that carries the message.
Shaw said: "Sorry, dmarks, but the word "Cracker" is not loaded with racial hatred as the word "N***er"
It is not AS loaded, but it is racist hate speech nonetheless. And it is deplorable that a person would use any racist hate speech in their public (or other) conduct.
"The word "cracker" doesn't come close. And attempting to liken the two words as equal is foolish, IMO."
They aren't equal. Those who bash people using the N word are much worse, I agree. But we are talking about two levels of racism. Degrees of racist hate. That can't be denied. None of it is acceptible. Are you really defending the use of one racial slur? Or do you agree that it is inexcusable, while not nearly as bad as the N-word.
Shaw: It can also be pointed out that the Democratic Party agenda has a racist element to it. This always comes to the fore when you get such efforts as the California Civil Rights Initiative. At the state levels, at least, the Democrats always come out strongly on the side of racial discrimination, and punishing individuals for nothing more than having the wrong skin color. It's by definition racist, and it is a leftist/liberal racism, not a Republican/conservative one.
Similarly, there is a racist element to the Republican agenda, regardless of the few who use racist insults. There is an undeniable thread of bigotry against Latinos in the immigration policy of so many.
I am consistent, and oppose any form of racial discrimination.
