Wednesday is Trump Hump Day
The Trumper has warned Hillary Clinton that if Bill campaigns for her, all bets are off and his sexual history is fair game.
We can't wait to see the Trumper's glass house shatter into a thousand shards as the media reports on his adulterous affair with Marla Maples , 17 years his junior, while he was still married to Ivana.
18 Real Things Donald Trump Has Actually Said About Women
Oh my! The Trumper changes his mind as often as he changes his wives!
Buzzfeed uncovered the 2008 blog post written by Trump where he endorsed Clinton for president or vice president. In a post published on March 13, 2008, Trump wrote, “Hillary Clinton said she’d consider naming Barack Obama as her vice-president when she gets the nomination, but she’s nowhere near a shoo-in,” wrote The Donald about the heated Democratic primary in 2008. “For his part, Obama said he’s just focused on winning the nomination, although at least one member of his team said Clinton would make a good vice-president. (I know Hillary, and I think she’d make a great president or vice-president.)”

So Trump was having Sexy Time with Marla while married to Ivana and TRump wants to go after Bill for his sexual escapades? Honk! Honk!
Very Dead... here's the point I think Trump is making...
Monica was an intern, essentially in his employ. Going back in history, we know that the feminist movement said it was impossible for an employee to consent to her boss, because it was an unequal power relationship. Any relation, many leaders in this movement said, between a boss and an employee was harassment. Period. The problem for them was that they never thought they would have someone who, in every other way, embodied and defended what they stood for committing an act such as this in the White House.
So many defenders of women's rights, Hillary included, chose to brush this off as nothing more than a consensual encounter, never explaining how this was not sexual harassment, as they had long explained.
To be unfaithful is one thing. To be guilty of sexual harassment, is quite another.
Bill Clinton, using the definition feminists pushed at the time, was/is guilty of such.
Hillary's issue is that she pushed this line of thinking, until her man was found to have done the same. Then she understandably equivocated.
Marla was not an employee of Trumps, as far as I am aware.
None of this excused Trump, at least in my opinion. But the Clinton's have some issues here... even Ruth Marcus, of the WAPO believes this is fair game, because Hillary is using Bill as a campaign surrogate.
Insulting and objectifying women, like Trump does, is sexism.
President Clinton was Lewinsky's employer, so that comes under sexual harassment on the job, because as you said, Dave, whether it was consensual or not, it is still harassment, just as an adult male who has sex with an underage female, consensual or not, is committing statutory rape.
Sexism and sexual harassment are two different things, both unacceptable, and both insulting to women. That's why Trump and Clinton should stay away from both subjects. The public doesn't need to be reminded about what happened during Clinton's presidency -- it's out there for anyone to find out. And the public now knows what Donald Trump really thinks about women -- which disgusting as well:
“You know, it doesn’t really matter what [the media] write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass,” he told Esquire in 1991.
PS. For all of Clinton's bad behavior, he still ended his presidency with very high approval ratings and is still very popular with the American public, which may mean they've forgiven him for his crass behavior.
It remains to be seen what the American people think about Trump. Most polls show his popularity only among Goopers.
In countrywide polls, Hillary beats him in every one.
Note the FOX poll. Hillary beats Trump in double digits.
Agreed Shaw... I saw mentioned what many back then didn't... that this was, by the accepted definition, harassment. And yet, the Dems, who mostly brought about that understanding of the word, refused to apply it to Bill Clinton.
I wonder if the House had brought that charge instead, if they would have succeeded in ending his presidency.
As for Hillary, I am not one to put a lot of stock in the polls of the day.
She may be the Dem equivalent of Romney when it comes to a general campaign. Just in the past week she has clumsily pandered to both the Latino [abuelas] and the African American [Kwanzaa] bases, which in turn, have mocked her as out of touch.
These groups should be her base, yet she struggles to connect. Let's see what happens when she has to take a stand on the stepped up deportations of "Illegal Aliens" as she has termed them in some speeches.
She's got some issues. I saw Trump last night in his airplane news conference... he looked credible, in control and was very measured in what he had to say. And he looked like he was a take charge guy, [damn the torpedos, full speed ahead] something many want after 8 years of a pres that seems to display mostly ice in his veins.
Dave Miller...Trump going after Hillary because of her husband's sexual misconduct is bullsh*t. Pot calling the kettle black, IMO. Hillary did nothing wrong and if she and Bill reconciled over the Lewinsky affair, that's their business. Freakin' Rethugs forgave their patron Saint Ronnie, and he was involved in a much worse scandal... the Iran-Contra affair that affected people's lives.
What do you call it when a father salivates over his daughter's figure and has fantasies about dating his own daughter? Most normal people call it disgusting and borderline incest. But Donald didn't have sex (that we know of) with an employee, so he's not as bad as Big Dog.
Check.
"...he looked credible, in control and was very measured in what he had to say. And he looked like he was a take charge guy, [damn the torpedos, full speed ahead] something many want after 8 years of a pres that seems to display mostly ice in his veins."
Don't fall for the MSM narrative, Dave. In a volatile world, one hopes to have a cool head, who doesn't shoot first and ask questions later and who has control over what he says, because what a leader says has a ripple effect worldwide. Trump has shown himself to be a motor mouth who speaks without thinking, then he has to walk back his words, usually by blaming others for what he says. Do we really want a man who calls women "a piece of ass," who refers to POWs as "losers," and others he disagrees with all manner of juvenile names as president? His penchant for speaking without censoring himself wins points for people who think their crazy uncle at the Thanksgiving table is funny, but this country that once took great pride in its statesmen. Trump is no statesman, and there's plenty of video to prove it.
Have you forgotten how Mr. Obama comforted and empathized with the families of mass shooting victims? Meetings with wounded military? His speech after the church shootings in Charleston was hardy icy. And he is respected by our allies -- Donald Trump is not. He's seen as what is the worst in our culture: Loud-mouth narcissism and chest-thumping ignorance.
Say what you will about Mr. Obama, but he has never embarrassed America on the world's stage. In a world that's ready to go up in flames, I want a leader with "ice in his veins."
Shaw... I don;t disagree with most of your comments... but Pres Obama himself has acknowledged getting his public responses to such crisis wrong. The metrics, if you will. Trump understands that part of the equation better than Obama.
Very, we can agree to disagree... of course the GOP has some truth and equal treatment issues to deal with, as do the Dems.
We certainly agree on this... Trump, as Shaw says, is seen as a clown overseas, and will be horrible as President.
For a party that decried the relative lack of experience for candidate Obama, they've certainly jumped the shark this time, and completely ignore their prior misgivings...
We sane Republicans screamed day after day that this inept moron, Donald Trump, is in no way qualified to be the President of the United States, no more than Elmer Fudd is!
But all you wacko Tea Partyers with all your stupidity and ignorance support him..
Frankly, and forgive me if I sound judgmental, this nation has a lot more important issues facing it, ones that could carry grave consequences if not handled properly, than to be concerned with than old news of Bill Clinton's dalliances in the Oval Office or Trump's affair with Marla Maples.
I agree, both Trump and H. Clinton have multiple issues they need to overcome to be successful in their presidential bids. Personally I don't care how measured Trump was or how much of a take charge dude he came across as Dave. He has some very unnerving ideas and character flaws that frankly give me greater worry than either illegal immigrants or ISIS. Why, because in office, with a republican neo con and fundamentalist leaning congress, combined with a conservative court, The Donald could have profound negative affect on our democratic republic.
The term neo fascism comes to mind. Professor Leonard Piekoff must have foresaw Trump when he wrote he Ominous Parralels back in 1980.
