TRUMP TELLS AMERICA THAT THE COVID-19 ISN'T A "DEMOCRAT HOAX" AFTERALL.

A few weeks ago the "stable genius" was calling the covid-19 virus a "Democrat Hoax" and that we'll all be fine in a few weeks. Nothing to see here.

Last Friday, the "stable genius" showed up at the CDC wearing a campaign hat and, with his usual narcissistic take on everything, what should have been a chance to educate the American people on the virus, was made into an event about himself. He spoke about his "genius" uncle who taught at MIT and segued into how much he understood about the virus and considered himself an expert on covid-19 because he said the experts were blown away by his understanding of it. He said that with a straigh orange face while the experts surrounding him all threw up a little in their mouths.

Last night the "stable genius" in a 10 minute talk to the nation admitted that perhaps the covid-19 isn't a "Democrat Hoax" afterall, and tried to reassure the American people that he, whose leadership has been disgraceful, scatterbrained, and deceiful, is doing a great job.

He isn't.

Remember this: Donald J. Trump is a liar, a cheat, and a fraud. He's been so for his entire life. I believe NOTHING he says.

In the time of the covid-19, I believe Dr. Fauci and the CDC. And Dr. Fauci said the covid-19 is TEN TIMES WORSE THAN THE FLU.

We learned that the CDC strongly advised that people over 60 years old NOT FLY. The trump administration chose not to pass that bit of safety information to the American people, at the same time the "stable genius" and the rightwing media told the American people that the virus is a plot to "make him look bad."

It's always about him, isn't it.

Now the "stable genius" wants us to believe that he has things under control and that he has the American people's welfare as a priority. That's a lie. The "stable genius" is worried about the stock market and how this virus will impact his re-election. That's first and foremost in his demented mind.

"In 2018, the Trump administration fired the government’s entire pandemic response chain of command, including the White House management infrastructure." And it has tried to defund the CDC. Those are facts that the "stable genius" did not mention in his inadequate address to the nation last night.

TRUMP FIRED THE ENTIRE PANDEMIC RESPONSE CHAIN OF COMMAND.

As we watch the markets tank and organizations and schools cancel their scheduled meetings, sporting events, and classes, we wish that a competent, informed person, like President Obama, were in charge of this crisis, instead of a malignant narcissist who cares only for himself and his re-election, and whose first response to this crisis was to call it a HOAX!

The president woke up on Thursday and assailed Democrats hours after he implored lawmakers to “stop the partisanship.” Then the markets cratered, unassuaged by his economic proposals.

"WASHINGTON — If President Trump’s goals in his prime-time address to the nation were to reassure Americans and unify the country in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, it seems safe to say that he achieved neither as of Thursday morning.

The stock markets collapsed another 7 percent in early trading, indicating that investors were hardly assuaged by the president’s 30-day suspension of most foreign travelers coming from Europe or his policy proposals to boost the economy. And his call to “stop the partisanship” ended as soon as he woke up and began issuing partisan attacks on Democrats."

Charlie Pierce:

"Trump and the officials quickly walked back his nationally-televised statements that

1) the administration would ban all travel from Europe to the United States,

2) the ban would also apply to trade and cargo between the US and Europe, and

3) major health insurers would waive co-pays on coronavirus treatment."

"You knew it was all going to go terribly wrong in the first few sentences when the president* referred to the source of the pandemic as “a foreign virus”—This is the most aggressive and comprehensive effort to confront a foreign virus in modern history.—as though it were something Stephen Miller could lock in a cage and then deport. And, of course, the claim was as false as it was stupid.

As the Washington Post helpfully points out, the administration*’s response to this outbreak has been to deny it, ignore it, downplay it, and now to use it as an excuse to ram through some tax cuts, a form of antibiotics that Joseph Lister never thought of.

That was not the speech of a president*. That was not even the speech of a bad president*. That was not even the speech of the worst president* we ever elected. It was the desperate wailing of a man who has fallen down a well, and there’s nobody up there to hear him."

If he allowed unrestricted travel he would be wrong and if he restricts travel he is wrong. It is just the hate from the left that has blown everything out of proportion in this mediavirus fueled panic. If you check your facts he never said the mediavirus was a democrat hoax. This media virus will probably doom his reelection because a strong economy was what he was running on. It really doesn't matter that millions of middle class families will suffer, at least trump will be gone and you millionaires will be fine.

Through no fault of his own trump will do what the swell guy couldn't, bring the middle class down to where they should be and make them suffer. Remember the democrat spokesperson bill maher wished for a recession to run trump out of office, well he is getting his wish.

While America and the world deal with the coronavirus, tRump takes care of his pocketbook. What a dirty, rotten, self-dealing pig!

Trump’s travel ban sidesteps his own European resorts

The president announced new travel restrictions on Europeans as the coronavirus pandemic escalated, but a few key spots on the continent were spared.

President Donald Trump accused Democrats of a new “hoax” over criticism of his handling of the coronavirus threat, as US health officials reported Friday a fourth case of novel coronavirus of unknown origin, indicating the disease was spreading in the country.

Coronavirus: Trump calls criticism Democrat 'hoax'
US President Donald Trump has called criticism from Democrats over his reaction to the global coronavirus outbreak as a "hoax

Skudrunner, you've been coming here for years planting misquotes and gaffes from Barack Obama, for example, the "57 states," for one, that he misspoke during campaign stops and said out of fatigue. No one thought that President Obama believed there are 57 states, but you didn't care, it was a way of demeaning Mr. Obama, and you've mentioned it dozens of times on this blog.

Trump may not have directly said that the coronavirus is a "hoax," but he used "Democrat" and "hoax" in the same sentence and there's very little distinction between saying the criticism of his handling the coronavirus is a "Democrat hoax," and the virus itself is a "Democrat hoax." People heard him use that language and they heard "Democrat hoax." That's the way the world works, as you know, since you've never relented from reminding us here that President Obama said "57 states."

Since you're a believer in perpetuating gaffes and misstatements that President Obama made over 9 years (that includes his campaigning for POTUS), I think it's only fair to leave what Trump called the coronavirus just as it is in my post.

Trump's response to this has been poor. We don't have enough test kits for the country, people who are sick don't have sick days in order to stay home and not spread the virus, we have too many people without healthcare. Remember how Trump promised a better healthcare bill that would be cheaper and cover more people than the ACA? What happened to that?

America has a leader who's worried about his re-election and losing money at his resorts in Europe rather than the welfare of the American people.

Also, you still haven't processed this fact:

TRUMP FIRED THE ENTIRE PANDEMIC RESPONSE CHAIN OF COMMAND.

That, of course, is far, far worse and more devastating to America than calling covid-19 a "Democrat Hoax!"

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

"Donald Trump—who, to this point, has cast the virus as actually not that big a deal despite what the Fake News Media is saying—changed his tone. Last night, he addressed the nation from the Oval Office for just the second time in his presidency. On the first occasion—last year, during a government-shutdown crisis that was largely of his own making—Trump reiterated his demands for border-wall funding and made little news; last night, he outlined measures to combat and mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, including restrictions on travel from 26 European countries for 30 days from tomorrow. (It’s not clear that this will be effective given that the virus is already spreading inside the US, but the announcement certainly was newsworthy.) At one point, Trump noted that “trade and cargo” would be affected, too. That claim rattled the markets, but Trump quickly walked it back.

The pivot in Trump’s tone was a conundrum for his boosters in the right-wing media universe, who, following Trump’s lead, have spent weeks downplaying the seriousness of the situation. One of them—Sean Hannity, of Fox News, who, in recent days, has called the concerned mainstream reaction to the virus a “new hoax” to “bludgeon Trump” and entertained the idea that it might be a deep-state “fraud”—responded with a hedge. Hannity praised Trump’s “aggressive and even unprecedented” response “from day one” of the crisis, and scolded the president’s critics for playing partisan politics; “In serious situations,” he said, with no hint of irony, “truth matters, facts matter, and unfortunately, there’s been waaaaay too much politicizing of this.”

Ray, I saw that. It's always Trump first, everyone else 3rd or 4th.

Anon, Is there a link for that?
